there are something peculiar about monologue in Jump comic anime.
Captain Tsubasa had taken a whole episode just to shoot a ball.
Dragon Ball is also known for dragging monologue or flashback.
on topic, as long as Soujuro VA acting good I don't mind hearing his monologue a lot.

Started Legend of the Galactic Heroes (14/07/23), pray for me.
Manga is still a "3rd-person perspective" medium. Monologues exist, sure but they're not narration. A manga is relatively simple to adapt 1:1 to anime because of this. Heck, most of the time the storyboards are carbon copies of the manga panels, just adjusted to fit a constant 16:9 aspect ration format. Something with narration is much harder, cuz now you have to choose which monologues to adaapt and which monologues to ditch, not to mention much of the establishing nature of the narration will be lost. Mahoyo likes to detail the history of Misaki in chunks when the characters are just walking about the city, how are you gonna adapt that? Chances are those little history lessons will be cut completely. I'm not saying we're doomed, but that narration as a medium is much harder to bring to animation than manga.
As for me, just adapt the action sequences well, keep the Fukusawa score as a base for the remixes (hell, fukkin bring him in to score the movie) and I'll be golden. The VN ain't going away anytime soon. If I need a refresher on some stuff not covered in the movie, I'll just read the thing.

I'm down with monologues done by multiple POVs. Some from Aoko and some from Soujuurou. Aoko could narrate Misaki's history and also about Alice. As for Soujuurou, it would be interesting to hear his thoughts regarding his nomadic life before the story.

Argh, the anime huh. My personal gripe with HxH was its total dependency to a narrator describing stuffs for telling the story, instead of letting the animation itself do the job. It completely forewent the "show don't tell" in a medium.Originally Posted by Mattias

My guess is that Aniplex made Ufo focus on Kimetsu. Thus, the delay. Genshin and that TR movie could also be factors

No but Aniplex are the ones who hold the rights to commission these anime. No studio just decides what they should pick up on their own. They're approached by companies like Aniplex and asked if they want to work on something.
Shingeki didn't change studios cuz WIT didn't feel like it anymore, it changed studios cuz the suits wanted Shingeki right away and WIT weren't available that year.
Plus there is a whole extra step with getting the broadcasting done which also involves meetings between reps of everyone involved. Plus whatever other nuances I am surely ignoring in this gross oversimplification.
Getting an anime done is a lot of work done by a lot of people, including letting an anime be done to begin with.
