Winter Anime 2022: The Covid Runback

So it's almost the new year, and the new stuff is starting in about a week. What's everyone getting excited for? For me:

Returning Shows:

Demon Slayer S2
Stone Ocean part 2
Vanitas S2: S1 wasn't amazing, but I'll keep up unless it gets really boring
Takagi-san S3
Princess Connect S2: Hopefully with the same ridiculously gorgeous art all over again
Lupin III Part England

New Stuff:

Dress Up Darling: Summery didn't really do this any favours, but holy shit that PV is gorgeous and really shows off the characters.
Raising a Kingdom out of Debt: Unintentional success can be amazing comedy, hopefully it delivers
Akebi-Chan: Don't really knwo about the plot, but damn is it pretty. I'll give it a shot.
Sabikui Bisco: WATCH THIS SHIT. I have no idea what's happening and it looks fucking unhinged. This is my greatest hope this season.
Koroshi Ai: Saber Assassin love story(?). Could be neat.
Leadale: Looks like the second coming of 300 years of Slimes.
Bishoujo Ojisan: Looks like it could be a fun comedy about trying to to fall for your genderbent BFF.
Monster Development Department: Neat premise, execution looks iffy so far.
Tribe Nine: Akudame Drive: Baseball edition.


Dishonourable Mentions:

Tokyo-24-ku: Is apparently a trainwreck according to the staff, and I want to see how bad it gets.
Rusted Armours: Looks like the second coming of Ex-Arm. Though at least this had backgrounds with detail.

Wow, That's actually more packed than I thought it was going to be. Hopefully no more of the 6(?) generic isekai this season draw me in enough to add even more to that list.

Wow, there's a lot of stuff I've already read airing this season. Let's see: Arifureta, Shuumatsu Harem, Bisque Doll, Realist Hero, Genius Prince, Fail-crest, Kenja no Deshi, Leadale, TS Ojisan, and even the OtoBoku 3 OVAs. Of course, I'm an idiot addict, so I'll watch most of those anyway, even though I expect them all to be crap.

But I'd been planning on ignoring Sabikui Bisco, until I watched your linked PV. After seeing that "kiss scene", I've got to see this show.

Watched the first episode of the Girls Frontline adaptation. It's been a while since an OP has disappointed me that much. Not because it was bad, but rather because it was too good. It makes the rest of the show look painfully bland in comparison. I wouldn't be surprised if you told me this show only got greenlit because someone has a maid fetish. The fact the main antagonist force attacks by showing you their panties is a bit out of nowhere otherwise.

Cue is really funny but not on purpose. Like a character leaving an actual voice acting job to go to the office of her talent agency which she already works at for her first day on the job. Somehow. Time travel, maybe? Or the VA coach saying that there's no wrong interpretation of a character, but if you don't do it right you're in trouble.

For me, GFL anime most interesting part is that instead of removing the player character like Azur Lane did or making said character a male (F/GO, countless other gacha and videogame adaptations), it goes with a female protagonist. Man, where's my FGO adaptation with Gudako? And no, Grand Carnival doesn't coiunt.

Police in a Pod was actually pretty fun. I was worried it would be a little too 'ra-ra law enforcement' but having one character basically be Simon Pegg from Hot Fuzz and the other wanting to quit was actually fun. The bit where one realized they were accidnetly re-enacting a recuitment ad and running away for children in horror got an actual out loud laugh form me.

World of Leadale is a standard isekai curbstomp comedy, but is fun enough.

I know I'm probably over thinking Worlds End Harem, but what kind of asshole calls his childhood friend up and says "I've always loved you. By the way I have Boneitis so I need to freeze myself for an unknown amount of time. Maybe go date that senpai, because I can't expect you to put your life on hold for me". Then why did you confess?! Just to mess with her?

Possibly. They could have aired it during an event or something, but it just showed up in my feed so I assume the broadcast has started.

Nah. What happened was that episode 1 aired normally last season, as it was suppossed to. They then delayed the entire show to this season restarting it from episode 1. Why? No clear reason was given. I suspect production issues in later episodes
