Don't like them at all in any way. In real life, I think it's obvious why, in fantasy, I don't think there are any interesting themes they can explore and their sheer existence is not interesting either.

Geez, instead of going all literary critic you were supposed to say something that showed your lack of knowledge on the subject of yandere which would allow me to shift the conversation to gush about them... Well, I very much doubt any of that would change your mind but that isn't important.

I had thought this before when I read some recent posts of yours in the "What TM stuff are you reading/watching/consuming?" thread but it seems your perceived literary value of the media you consume is fairly important for you, isn't it? I guess that with me being someone who places the enjoyment I felt at the moment and the presence of aspects I have a personal obsession with over everything else makes us kinda incompatible.

I don't lack the preference for aspects I enjoy, nor feelings. But usually when a discussion about a work is made, if you veer towards what "I enjoy, like, or feel about this", you'll be going from critique to just gushing about something. Which I'm not opposed to, but I'm also not specifically attracted towards; whenever I go towards anything remotely personal I feel like I always dominate the conversation with my eagerness and the following guilt is not something I enjoy. That's why, in conversation, I focus toward perceived literary value, since that is actual critique, which to me fits better anyways. I also dislike dumbass critics like Fantano giving Sempiternal a 4/10 because "too metalcore", (I don't even like the album by the way), and wish to separate myself from them. And finally, I don't exactly feel as if I've earned the level of emotional connection here to even try and veer the conversation towards myself; I only chip in when it seems the consensus is everybody chipping in themselves. I'm not sure if I ever will earn it.

Also, this is why I added the "and their sheer existence is not interesting". I find nothing about them interesting as a plot device, nor do I like them as an archetype. I'll usually tolerate something if it checks either box.

Well, it's not that I don't understand what you mean. I also feel like that just gushing about something isn't productive towards a discussion but at the same time I'm pretty much mostly disinterested in critique... which often results in me not being much active in the forum despite lurking a lot.

Their straightforward and wholehearted extreme affection, I guess? Whether it's a yandere who confines their beloved somewhere, one who would kill all those she percieves are standing in way between the two them or one who would do literally anything her beloved orders her to isn't important. The important part is how all these stems from extreme affection.
The point is that I find girls who express their affection in a extreme way to be charming and lovely. Or, to put in a otaku way, it's something I find extremaly moe. For me yandere is the purest form of

pure love

純愛

as much as redundant this may sound.
Let me use excerpt of a short story as a example of something yandere that charmes my heart.
