Yep, and BW were soft reboots, I wonder if anything like that is happening this time around.

Personally, I'm going to cautiously wait for reviews and public opinion before buying. I'm sure this is not going to have the catching system of Arceus, and Legends itself doesn't really fix anything that was wrong with the main games, just sidesteps it by being a completely different type of game.
I wish I could be more hopeful, but we'll see.

That said, cat looks good but also generic. Croc baited me into thinking it was a dino so I'm torn. Duck looks like shit but I'm hopeful for his Conquistador final evo.

I wonder if they'll use Arceus's battle system.

I guarantee they won't. It wouldn't work for competitive and without the flow of catching and exploring that Arceus has, there's not much benefit to simplifying the battles so they go by so quickly.

Yeah, not having Abilities in a mainline game would be a very interesting decision.

At least battles still happen where you started them, with no transition. So there's still some Legends DNA in there.

Same. Legends' catching system was one of the better parts of the game. Still, the catch rates should likely be lowered just because we're back in present-day, with Wild Pokemon more used to trainers trying to catch them.

Agreed on this front, and actually, I like the PC's design. I just hope they are fully customizable, or at least majorly so. I need to change their skin color, dammit.

If they do gyms the easiest way with an open world would be to scale them to your number of badges. They may not have them though, SM didnt.

I actually liked the SM Island Challenge. I feel it was a good balance of regional tradition and the typical Pokemon progression, and honestly, I wish there was an alternate universe Sinnoh that struck a similar balance.

SM's director is the guy behind Pokémon Legends though. Which means SV is probably on Ohmori's hands.
I wouldn't hope for anything straying too far from Gyms + League.

Personally, I really enjoyed trials and would love a new take too. Honestly I just want type-focused characters and regular boss battles, how they accomplish those two isn't important.

It's somewhat irrelevant given the advent of customisation, but the fact that PC's base designs have unisex clothing has given rise to the speculation that the player starts out in some kind of Trainer School and that's their school uniform.
Kind of a cool idea, but I'm not sure how they would implement that.
