    Art Of Gold(TheGoldenBoy2188’s Not-AI Art Thread)

    So I’m making another art thread. Why? Because I have some art I want to share, and because my other art thread is for art drawn by AI. This is art drawn by me, just so no one gets confused.

    So I talked about making a 3D model of a spaceship. Here’s what i did yesterday.







    The entire model except for the statue of zeus I created. I got the statue of Zeus of the internet. Don’t worry I asked my teacher if I could use it and he said yes.

    The textures though don’t belong to me, I just got them of the internet.

    today’s ship model progress.

    Since the model itself is done I really only textured things.

    Here’s the engine on the back.


    Didn’t really know what to do here, so I just made the inside darker and added a metal texture. I don’t really like it though so I’m probably going to change it.



    Since the texturing on the outside of the model is done I’ve decided to work on the inside of the ship, though I didn’t really need to due to how opaque the glass is.

    I found this cool texture that I put on the deck, so it isn’t that sad gray.


    Though I had to get some help from my teacher, cause due to how bad I’m at modeling, I somehow managed to turn the rectangle’s faces into triangles.


    Here’s the other direction.



    That white structure at the end is supposed to be the command center.

    Here’s a zoom in.



    I added a porcelain texture in hopes it would somewhat cancel out the white and make it not so bright, but it’s still bright enough that once you zoom in you can’t really see or differentiate what’s inside. Gonna have to fix that.

    And here’s some stuff you’ll never get to see again.


    This is what’s below the deck. I thought of adding rooms here but I’m deciding against it, I’ve already been working on this project for weeks and most of my classmates are already done with there’s plus nobody’s gonna see this so why waste time?

    Here is what is beneath that by the way.


    Nothing’s gonna be here, so it’s just gonna be empty space.

    I’m almost done though, I’ll have to fix the textures a bit and add some stuff to the command center (like a stirring wheel and control panels) and then I can start working on an animation.

    Though having said that I’m thinking of adding some grimlies anyway. Like gold wires on the big engine. Also feel like the deck is to empty, I’ll probably add a hatch door texture on it. And try to fill it up, like some barrel’s, chests, maybe tables and chairs?

    Anyway that’s my progress with the model today, will update tomorrow.

    So for something different from the spaceship.

    Here's the wire model of a dragon.




    Something I'm doing in my school's sculpture club.

    I'm done with the wire model, now all I have to do is cover it with cardboard and newspaper before putting plaster sheets and clay.

    I was going to start putting magazine on the model today but somehow after I was done making the wings the teacher said that club was over.

    Will have to wait for next thursday.

    I put the hull in Smooth Mode so it would look better. I’ve been working on the command center, as well, though I’m having trouble with textures.

    Sorry for the late update. But I'm mostly done with the Argo 2!

    I don't really like the sparseness of the ship and thought if wasn’t Greek enough so I added some things.

    So update for the Argo 2.

    I didn’t like the murals side of the ship so I took them off and put them inside the ship.



    Much better, however…


    There’s still a lot of empty space, I’m probably gonna put to bigger images inside.

    And another thing.


    I’m putting busts of the Olympians on the outside of the ship.

    It was actually something I planned as far back as the concept art.

    You can see shields with the names of the gods.

    I think it’s looking pretty good. The first image is Hera, the black one is Hades, and the white one is Hermes.

    This is stuff I did last week. I put all the busts on the ship.

    There wasn't enough space to put Hephaestus on the sides so I put him on the top part of the engine.


    I also gave him some depth unlike the other busts.

    And now I'm filling up space in the deck, because I didn't like how empty it felt.

    Unfortunately, my first attempt at rigging didn't really go so well. Body parts not following the bones but bending weirdly.

    Welp here’s my second attempt at rigging.








    I edited the model a bit with some objects to act as joints. The rigging is somewhat the same as before so here’s a time stamp to skip.







    As you can see I tried to paint weights this time so the body doesn’t move but the joints do. But it didn’t work for some reason. My teacher thinks it’s a problem with the binding so I’ll try to fix it and make a part 2 when I get home.

    New vid, this time I’m on my home version of Maya 2023.



    I separated the shoulders. I also tried to paint weights but everytime I did Maya would crash.

    Idk why, it could be because it’s a Maya 2022 model on Maya 2023. Or my Maya 2023 could be corrupted.

    I have finished.



    You know? When I first started rigging, I thought wow, this is hard, then I learned how to place and connect joints and I thought this was easy! Why is it so hard? Then I bind skin and realize why it's so hard when body parts start flying all over the place.



    Painting Weights was a bitch cause the PC would glitch out and not work. Which is why I'm clicking off, saving my work and restarting Maya.



    Also I made the Model do a karate horse stance at the end
