I think it's just coincidence.
A generation of otaku grew up with Type Moon's original works. Tsukihime and Fate have shifted the landscape of visual novels, and catapulted Type Moon into mainstream.
But that was 20 years ago, and most of that generation has moved on.
Mahoyo and Fate derivatives are not enough to carry the tent pole of Type Moon, therefore it's faded a bit.
Tsukihime didn't kill BL, the problem is that it didn't do enough.
It would also help if they actually released it in English. The fact that the only three TM games with an English release are Melty Blood, Extra and Grand Order (on a two year delay) is pretty ridiculous.

You forgot Extella and Link. Well that and didn't Melty have at least 2 English games? Although personally I'm not as fond of the Extra setting myself so some other games set outside of the Moon Cell would be neat to have. I just prefer the secret war on the streets to Extra I think, but maybe it's because I didn't get as invested in Nero and Tamamo like the Protagonists of Fate/Stay Night.

It has nothing to do with TM. Beast's Lair drop in activity has nothing to do with the fandom itself (which is in fact, bigger than ever), but rather simply that forums aren't in fashion anymore.
The obvious answer is we need a BL OnlyFans.
If you're talking about the site overall, it was actually more active in early '21, more than now even. It was least active during the summer of 2021, if we're counting from 2021 to now.
I've kind of wanted to collate all the statistics and make a giant chart out of it at some point.
