Found the source (I think), seems some time ago Miwa did several fan designs about Volsunga Saga charas and tweet if they should send them to Higashide and Sakurai (Remember that acording to old interviews, Higashide had the idea to split Sigurd and Siegfried into two characters and was who proposed to Sakurai to use Bryn in Fragments, what made Sakurai the final writer then to complete their designs)

I feel like the word 妄想 is being used in its fandom meaning, as in theories and fan content with no canon evidence to support. That is, until Sakurai looked at it and call it canon.

Oh, it's like that is it? Without context I assumed it was concept art for the new project from some upcoming artbook or whatever.

I do wonder what kind of title they'll come up with for a Fate focused on a/the Volsung(s). I bet the word Saga is involved somehow.

If Aslaug really is the main character then either she'll have to be the framing device for the saga as a whole or the story will have to go beyond just the Völsunga Saga as Aslaug herself doesn't physically appear but is instead only mentioned in passing.

(not sure if I'm coping or not here because while I adore the Hervara saga I wouldn't trust Sakurai with it for even half a second)

Nah, I do like their stuff too and am excited they are writing another novel with (seemingly) this theme.
But to clarify, I think FGO is their worst medium for their narrative and their chapters aren't the best by a mile. What I like is in Fragments once the POV shift from focusing so heavy on Manaka to the other characters and the timeline starts to become more linear, that's when the story becomes really great for me. In particular every time we get flashbacks to the servants life I think they are awesome and really well handle. And that's another think I like, out of the style the writers have to make servants I like Sakurai's approach where they try to make the most out of their servants backstories, specially compare to, for example, Higashide who has to apply their own twist to the legend to make it interesting or Nasu who's been going a little overboard with syncretisms lately. Sakurai is one of the writers that tries to leave the legends are they are (*) and make the most out of the details on them. And this is what makes me excited for the new novel series (Granted I would prefer it if it's not a chapter a month like Fragments so the prose doesn't have to be so reiterative)

(*Of course, I'm saying this as a pattern not a hardcore rule as characters that serve bigger narrative roles on FGO or received input from the other writers have thinks change on their backstories like Dante, Helena or Holmes for example)

What's that leap of logic even? You think they would be done with the whole game because we saw snippets of Nero gameplay and NPs for the other two so the only other possible explanation for no news is another route added?

I don't see why people are putting so much notice on Extra Record not being there, BB was announced pretty fast with Extra Record and you're talking about the company (TM) that spent a literal decade on a remake. It'll come out at some point it's not dead, so why worry so much.
