Terra is a world very much like our own, but so very different in certain ways. The language, the society, even the countries will seem familiar. But the world begins to take a turn with its inhabitants, and it veers entirely off course on the topic of natural laws and events.
Not a single "human" walks the lands of Terra. The people of the world are certainly human-like, usually differing from the mundane by a single feature such as ears or horns. Though even that is not guaranteed, and Terra also knows people indistinguishable from an ordinary human, and others who look like none other than walking and talking beasts. These inhabitants have fearsome abilities far exceeding the human norm, such as freakish strength, speed faster than the eye can see, incredible endurance that can withstand grievous wounds, and even a type of modern-day magic called Originium Arts.
The foundation of these Arts can be found in Originium. A black, crystalline substance rarely found in nature, Originium contains vast stores of energy far exceeding any other known material and unique properties that defy modern science. The crystal is widely used as a power source, not simply for Arts but also for fueling cars, powering electronics, and providing electricity for whole cities. Originium is not believed to form in normal circumstances, and is instead found in the wake of incredible natural disasters known as Catastrophes.
These Catastrophes are similar to the natural disasters of Earth. Tornadoes, volcanic eruptions, fierce storms, earthquakes, all events that can be found in our world. But Catastrophes are more frequent and widespread, not simply occurring in certain areas but a universal danger across the entire known world. The presence of these disasters makes the modern city of Earth a nearly impossible dream. One cannot build a city outside the reach of Catastrophes, so one cannot build a city at all. A mere ten, or twenty, or thirty years will see the the whole thing brought to ruin.
But people were not content living in small settlements or caravans that could move across the Catastrophe-scarred lands. For many years did they search for a solution, and eventually they found it, taken from the same disasters that they fled in the first place: an energy source of enormous, practically impossible power, that would allow the building of enormous vehicles capable of moving an entire city...

If you somehow didn't realize from the title card, After the Dawn is an Arknights-based roleplay. It's a large setting with too much to reasonably explain, so I will assume you're at least somewhat familiar with the setting. If you need more information that can be easily found on YouTube or a wiki or the like, I am available in PMs or on the Beast's Lair RP discord.
It is March of the year 1102, about 5 years after the events of the Arknights main story. The players will be a group of employees working for Blacksteel Worldwide, a Private Military Corporation based in the nation of Columbia. You aren't grunts, but you aren't high-level elites either - you've been around the block a few times but none of you will be one man armies capable of handling a mission alone. You have been called together on short notice to take part in an urgent mission: a city in Northwestern Columbia has been struck by a Catastrophe, and a certain client contracted Blacksteel for the purpose of getting in, collecting some sensitive material, and getting out.
I won't be taking that many players. You are a single squad working together, after all. Maybe 8 tops. I will make some attempt to balance the squadwith the usual 1 Vanguard, 1 Sniper, and 6 Guardsbut I will not be requiring one of each class or anything like that.
Here is the rulebook. Here is an NPC character sheet you can use for an example, but I'd prefer if player characters went a bit more in-depth than this. The last day to submit sheets is May 19th, and the IC thread will hopefully be up on the 20th, assuming I don't have too much trouble picking characters.
FAQ
1) Can you be a race/animal not mentioned in the rulebook?
Yes, as long as I didn't specifically ban it, it's probably fair game. If it's something weird like a monster be sure to ask first though.
2) Can I be a dinosaur?
