The Chernobog Incident had a way of scraping against whatever professional calm she had. Hard not to slip back into normal speech for a moment. So much human misery, and at the end of it all, so many of her patients dead. No use thinking about it now, though, and she let out a quiet sigh of her own.

“Nothing to do but be wary, at any rate, and think of the day after. Hopefully in your case, what you’ll eat and how long you’ll rest once the assignment is over- and in mine, how many patients need to be reprimanded for eating nothing but candy and fried meats and letting their health slip during my time away.”
