Nowadays, they choose to be bad for social or politically correct BS. This is made obvious because dubs back then had rather poor acting. Nowadays, the actors are actually rather good. It's just that their scripts are shit. In other words, there's a sweet spot in time where there were good dubs. Any time before or afterwards is subs only for me.

And the dubs subtitles not matching the Japanese subs also make sense because that way there's no disconnect between people having to read and other who are listening.

I don't know why you're so bent out of shape about a couple of linguistic differences though. I'd understand if the character was 12 and they say she's 18, because that'll kill your erection, but there's not even an edited out "nice ass" there.

Only the tongue line (which could easily be a simple mistranslation, sadly happens more often than you'd like due in part to translators being overworked and underpaid) sounds outright inaccurate, as opposed to just emphasizing different things. Acting like "wuss" is so much more hardcore than "scaredy-cat" that changing it is an example of "censorship" is particularly nitpicky IMO.

Lines being different to the original is hardly unusual in dubs either, nor evidence of any kind of "political" tampering. For instance in the JoJo part 1 dub Dio's line when hunting Jonathan in the manor is "You're behind the curtain like Polonius" whereas the original is just "Cowering behind the curtains, are you?" Inserting some insidious pro-Shakespearean agenda? Nah, just making sure to match the lip-flaps plus adding a bit of English flavor (since the series is set in Britain). You can't expect dub dialogue to be 1-1 faithful to the original, and with exception to that one line none of them sound so different you can really say the general meaning has been lost.

Honestly comparing the Japanese to original "She's well-endowed for a girl" was translated strangely in the subs as well, I think I would've done a double-take if I'd read that. Maybe that line just isn't very natural to say in English?
