It reached the finale of the village in 12 episodes (final one is double length, like in S1). Whole Ganja flashback was part of the season

DAMN WHY DID THIS HAVE TO BE SPLIT COUR?. Then again, if it helps production, it's good. Really good season. The best, really. Looking foward to the 2nd half in winter. What a cruel place to end this half, holy shit

    Hataraku Maou Sama S2 done
Pretty good season. Had fun despite the low production values. Will watch the continuation that has been announced

Danmachi: And people thought that Bell was in deep shit before. Welcome to the deep floors. This was a fantastic cliffhanger as a novel reader, and I'm stoked for the next cour. I'm really satisfied with what we got so far; whether it's Bell's development as the leader of Hestia Familia or as a combatant with the absolutely badass Argo Vesta and some beautiful hero scarf usage, JC Staff got their shit together and nailed it.

THANK YOU JC STAFF FOR THIS ANIME, KEEP IT UP AND GODSPEED

Fantastic show. Great cast of characters and just a great atmosphere. Cheering for Nazuna and Ko over here. Detective best girl. Hoping for S2 because she came late and didn't get much screentime yet
    Summer Time Rendering done
Man, this was a good show. Good mistery. Great characters, great animation, great OST, good action connected to the mistery elements (fights were more about discovering an strategy to win by uncovering what the villains are, their weakness and their goals), effective as fuck villains and a great ending. Great show

Lycoris Recoil Episodes 3-4: DA just coincidentally got hacked, and they're using Takina as a scapegoat, that's awfully convenient.
I though the mock battle between Chisato and Takina vs Fuki and the other girl was so cool .

So the reason that Chisato was able to dodge those bullets is because she figure out where they'll first. She's even able to dodge at close range too, which is where she needs to be to get a shot off too. Learning about why she uses the rubber bullets and the necklace she has was interesting to me as well.

And the man from the gun deal has finally made their appearance. With all those guns, there's no way that opening fire on a subway train that he thought was full of people is all that he wanted to do. Like he said, he's going to do something bigger with them.

    Going through the dub?

It'll be fun to see your reaction. It was one of the better shows this season. Provided you can get past 'armour piercing non-lethal rounds'.

Edit: Hey! Turns out next weeks episode of Biscuit Hammer is a highlight reel recap. There were highlights?!

Having read the manga, she gets so much better once her past and true motivations are fleshed out.

Eh, that's not as egregious as the guns having no recoil despite it being in the title of the show.

Summertime Render 25: So Ushio (And even Ryuunosuke) is actually still alive in this iteration and the reason Shinpei came back to the island is because she called him. I'm still not entirely clear on how erasing Hiruko in the past worked, as for instance Seido's (Sou and Tokiko's father) history should be totally different given their family was never involved with Shadows, to the point you'd question if the same descendants would be born at all. But I guess you have to handwave that as part of it all working out. Since even Haine still exists at the end as a child in the present era it seems less like the logical result of changing the past and more some sort of "ideal future" that amalgamates the good parts of either timeline, which actually makes sense since the heroes reunited both of Haine's eyes at the end and could "render" the future they wanted.

Overall a very satisfying conclusion to the show. Nice to see everyone get along and be happy after all the horror they'd been through. Even Shinpei and Ushio regained their memories of that fateful summer together at the end so they'll know how much they went through for each other. Only thing that could've made it better would be if after Sou tried confessing to Mio again she nonchalantly revealed she'd been already going out with Tokiko for a while. Would've been funny to see his reaction. But I guess that would've been too overt for a non Yuri-focused show (and heck, even many Yuri ones) coming from Japan.

I would like to see and compare the 2 timelines because, you know, that thing with the famine that was discussed before.

So I finished off a bunch of the shows I had on backlog:

Call of the Night: Ends well, but still feels a bit flat. The kiss is nice and all but there doesn't really feel like much resolution outside that. for as smart as the detective is, she's a bit of an idiot isn't she? everyone knows that forcing a teen into a certain path is a guarantee that they resent it and go the opposite way.

Summertime Render: I know this year has had some real amazing shows, and the Winter is poised to double that amount, but holy shit this show is my AOTY. Sure it may not be the most stylish, or have amazing animation or be a laugh a minute, but that constant tension the show builds episode to episode, the evolution of the plot making sure no situation is around long enough to be stale, it can't be beat. The show just came out of nowhere and hit like a ton of bricks. But isn't that how all the best ones happen? An adaptation you hear about before hand and have OGs hype up for months prior, but a out of nowhere show? That always lands 1000% harder. And I just put it together that Ushio is just Milia Rage. I know a full reset is the only way to really end a time travel story, and that a lot of people see it as a cop out like nothing actually happened in the story, but I can't dislike them. I think the epilogue is the only time I've heard Shinpei's last name used, to the point where they used it and I started to think Ajiro was his given name. 10/10. Can't recommend enough.

Aoashi: I've seen enough sports shows to know this was going to be the outcome, but it was fun nonetheless. Got to hand it o them, skipping the end of the match. Most shows would have had them run to the end, but this shows how it as a blowout so much better than everything coming together last minute. And then the MC gets his next hurdle to surmount, putting him right back at the start of his growth again. What's this? Actual romantic progression in my shounen sports show? Haven't seen anything close to this since Ippo, and that was 2000.

Overlord: The main problem with roflstomp anime is that you need someone around to build up a sense of dramatic tension. If you know the outcome of every fight beforehand, what's the point? Still, it's enough of a step up from S3 that I'll rpobably check out S5.

Lycoris: An enjoyable last episode, even if it solved nothing that hadn't already been done. Nice to see a happy ending for almost everyone, and a set up for new main villain in Secretary Girl. I like the fact Sensei was hiding that thing all along, but when you think about it, doesn't it fall apart? Like how do you get away with faking a limp during sex? One time, maybe. But multiple instances?

Vermeil: In the end it was probably worse than Engage Kiss in every way. Less production values, more sterotypical, more shameless. Yet I still enjoyed it more. Maybe it was the lack of Harem Hijinks? Maybe the obvious Utena homages? Maybe the Big Ol' Tiddies? Who knows.

Engage Kiss: Nothing this season (that I actually made it through one episode of) really captured the "This is a LN" feel that this did. For gods sake, they even tossed in a little sister into the mix.

Surprise of the season: Yurei Deco.
U0 was an odd show - At first, it seemed like it was going to be a story about social media, but it quickly turned into a typical utopia/dystopia story with the social media parts being flavor only. Despite that, it remained as light-hearted and kid-friendly as the bright colors and silly character designs would suggest.

All in all, it wasn't that good a show, but it was the most not-what-it-seemed and unexpected show for me this season.

    Lycoris Recoil Episode 5:
    Spoiler:
In this episode, Lyco-Reco has the job of escorting an elderly man who's wheelchair-bound that fled Japan after his family was killed around Tokyo for sightseeing and to also be his bodyguards. While speaking to the man, Chisato brings up the fact that she has an artificial heart. I didn't really think she meant it until the idea that she doesn't even have a heartbeat came up.

In the very middle of it, they find out he's targeted by a man known as Silent Jin, someone that Mika worked with 20 years ago, which is actually the same time the client's family was murdered.

Takina got grazed by a bullet in a gunfight, one of the first times either of those girls got hit by anything. But Chisato comes in at the last second and takes him down. That's about when the client reveals his real reason for coming back to Japan was to lure Jin out of hiding so he could have Lyco Reco kill him for them.

Chisato refuses of course, but when she does, the equipment that should have been enabling the client to speak and get around shut off suddenly.

As it turns out, the man was just some random person, and someone else was controlling the wheelchair and talking to them the entire time. They did it all through the Internet, they and I had no idea about it until the very end, it's insane.

Jin was with Mika 20 years, so he couldn't have killed that man's family anyone.
So if they went through it, they would have killed an innocent man.

Jin also said that he doesn't asks questions about who his clients want dead. But you can clearly see that the woman who hired him was the driver for Yoshimatsu in episode 1.

I haven't bring it up before but, I've been piecing it together. He's the one who had Kurumi hack DA, and he's involved in the gun deal somehow on top of being affiliated with the Alan Institute, the organization that gave Chisato her artificial heart, along with being the person who gave her the necklace she's trying to find.
In the 4th episode, he says a ,"genius is a gift from God, who must be delivered to the world to share that gift. What a rarity to be a genius of killing."
The Alan Institute is said to help and support geniuses, so he has to be talking about Chisato.
It all just makes me have a lot more questions, but the thing I know for sure is, is that he's a snake.

Near the end of the episode, one of the guys under the guy from the gun deal lures a Lycoris out and he comes in and runs her over with a sports car of all things. And then immediately after, a bunch of his thugs come out and shoot her while she's still lying on the ground. They didn't need to do that, that was just too brutal, my god.

But at the end of the episode, Takina does check to see if Chisato's doesn't have a heartbeat, and in fact she doesn't. And yes, that is pretty cool. It was a good episode though, I have to say that.

To be fair, she also offered him sex and he rejected it, so he clearly isn't a normal teenage boy.

She's basically Stranger Danger incarnate, combined with "we have Nazuna at home".

So I finished up the back half of Cyberpunk. It went the way I was expecting. I loved it, but as I was watching the end credits I had a thought. Why did I enjoy this show so much, but Iron Blooded Orphans, which had a similar structure of build up and fall, felt so flat for me? Did IBO just drag on for too long before they pulled the trigger on the Climax? This was a brisk 10 episodes, while IBO stalled out for most of it's second 24 episode season.

Anyways, 10/10. Hopefully CDPR has contracted Trigger already to make anime for the 7 new games they just announced, that way they can smooth over the inevitable terrible launches they'll have.
