FGO part 3 story. Continue or new story?

Nasu in his interview. There are two options for F/GO after lostbelt ends.

1) Chaldea's story continues from part 2
2) Chaldea's story ends in part 2 and a new story begins.

He personally wants option 1 but it depends on the player base.

A continuation wouldn't be bad if it involved new characters though.

Preferably. I'd prefer FGO to just end. Let it die and let our servants be preserved forever...

Then have Lasagana work on FGO2 with full voice acting, actual gameplay, PC and mobile release, 3D models instead of sprites so content doesn't take a thousand years, and have Nasu go back to doing whatever the fuck he wants... and just let Higa or Minase be the main writer or something. This is the perfect scenario.

How would making new characters change this? If part 3 involves the future, then its about preventing bad ends which would be a change.

I don't understand why everyone thinks that would come out halfway decent, let alone better than a straight continuation.

What does "Chaldea's story" even mean here? The MC would no longer be affiliated with the organization? Cuz the headquarters have been f*cked since the LB Prologue.
Honestly I don't see that working, given the game's mechanics. Chaldea provides the background context for how Servants work in FGO. And if it's not ending I doubt they'd change cast, at the very least MC and Mashu would stay. So... all roads lead to option 1 really.

If there is going to be one, I'd say Part 3 should be something like Guda and Chaldea summoned by a far future adult Abigail to deal with Outer God related stuff. I feel like having another massive event on the planet itself would be too weird with how definitive the buildup to the end of part 2 feels, and setting up a new protag would just feel weird considering that they couldn't just simply switch over all Servant/Master characterization to a new Master.

Part 1 and 2 are very much two halves of one big story and they bank on that to visit many different places for each main story chapters.

I don't doubt that other writers can pick up the pace in Nasu's absence, but i friend of mine did raised a good point that without him, the cosistency in how many good stories we get may also go to the floor. That said, Nasu wants a mostly final ending, so a whole new story could be a very tough sell.

Agreed. I feel like trying to do a full on new setting with new characters is WAY too much and would pretty much kill FGO(Which I fully believe isn't a problem for some). I can't even really think of a Gacha Game that has done such a thing and wasn't dead on arrival afterwards. It doesn't help it requires alot of work to do it and to make it believable without basically making it come off as completely hokey at the same time.
