Yes to the latter.
Yes to the latter.
It's especially weird considering how much Nobu and Chacha have talked him up.
Maybe the angle their going for is that he basically went evil as he declined in old age?
That fits the Child of the Sun NP, which otherwise feels a tad random to give him.
Nobbu had her own brother executed; even if it was due to betrayal, she still did it. She absolutely would see nothing wrong with Hideyoshi's actions. War mongerers and all.
I'm gonna agree that Keikenchi doesn't shy away from the fact that underneath all of the comedic antics, these are some of Japan's most notorious war criminals for a reason.
Its honestly impressive because it a lot of writing skill to keep them likable while still acknowledging their shady history.
Hideyoshi's servant-self goes from good to evil as he ages alignment-wise, so really, it's been how Keikenti has intended to write his character from the get-go. It's the first time we've really seen Hideyoshi at his oldest point in Fate narratively, but to me it's not at all surprising that he's so horrible— and in Keikenti's one comic about Nagayoshi you already see the signs of this in his older years. Child of the Sun is just the embodiment of him starting off as this plucky underdog from nowhere who rose to the greatest of highs, and fell to the lowest of lows.
There aren't any Servants we've seen whose identity is based around how they've grown over life, only Servants at varying stages of their lives / different forms, so he's always been fascinating.
Takes crazy to understand crazy
The only reason why Nobunaga is portrayed much nicer than Hideyoshi in FGO is that the Hidetsugu's and Komahime's of her story are missing out.
There's Nobukatsu but that's about it.
The Azai are missing, Chacha is missing, the monks are missing and so on.
Of course Hideyoshi does wild it out in his later years. Nioh 2 had to make him possessed by an evil spirit to explain how the plucky rag to riches guy became a monster.
Being choosen by the sun ain't easy.
Hyouge Mono
When you look at what Hideyoshi did, it makes Tsubone's weariness of the Oda clan a lot more justified lmao.
By the way, have they touched in this event on the invisible entity hovering over Hideyoshi? His stand thing that kenkeichi hinted at?
Maybe it's something only people who actually understand him completely can see?
I forgot about it completely.
OK, he's a dude
Feels like we're going to get Rengoku as an alternative costume for Okita Alter, seeing as we can even use it in battle. Which is fine for me.
Btw, I must say that the artist behind Sen no Rikyu/Komahime really went full out for this chapter, she has so many different expressions for being the first Servant he/she did for FGO.
because Type-Moon appreciates illustrators.
lot of ppl overlooked how many famous artists doing CE.
