I find an anime original ending very hard to imagine for this story
The most likely answer if this turns into a full series is they just find a decent enough spot to stop and you hope it gets a continuation in the future, like so many other LN adaptations.
The problem is I don't know where that spot would be with FSF.

As for this OVA I wouldn't be surprised if it's just all of the character introductions, volume 1 and the start of volume 2 condensed into an episode. Enkidu and Gil being advertised means their fight is likely going to be in, and the preview shows Richard's arrest scene.

What I'm excited about a F/SF anime is the amount of music it can reference (since F/SF is reference central ). We can have like a DEEN/prototype music for like Richard and Ayaka, Zero/UBW for Sigma, Case files for flat, etc. I'm really hoping we have an OST that reference Overcome the Myth for the Alcides vs Gil smackdown.

I imagine they'll release the OVA, announce anime in Fall/Winter 2024, thereby giving Narita a year to at least get vol 9 done.
Then release the second cour in 2025, and hopefully that'll be when the last volume is released.
Though abandoned, forgotten, and scorned as out-of-date dolls, they continue to carry out their mission, unchanged from the time they were designed.
Machines do not lose their worth when a newer model appears.
Their worth (life) ends when humans can no longer bear that purity.

Strange Fake is 8 volumes and counting. There's no way they can fit even that many in a two-cour season.
It was always going to be a two season show.
Assuming the LN's gonna finish anytime soon, they could start the full production by the time it concludes. But if it does end up to be more than just prologue OVA, do they already coordinate with Narita, or is it a stimulus for him to write faster?
I'm hoping for a 2 cour, but this one might need more. With how popular it is it easily could be 4 cour by the time it's all finished. I'm hoping that take this as a passion project and really try to nail this. Perhaps they get up to vol 5 in the first season and simply end with a cliffhanger.
