hauntingly beautiful pic
I tried looking for something related to a skull painting
This fella came to mind. You may not know the name, but you know some of his pictures, most of all his depiction of the tower of babylon. My focus was his The Triumph of Death painting. The interesting part is that two other pictures exist, few decades apart. My nose smells Demon Pillars here, someone tried to depict the coming end of humanity.
Because of the girl, I hoped that dude had a daughter, but he only had sons. But then i discovered that the third version is noted as only a "follower", so perhaps a girl of his family inherited the demon pillar crest but tries to resist the influence of the demon?
If the artist is not to your liking, one may look up if one can find other artists associated with the "dance macabre" style, developed during the late Middle Ages and certainly inspired the mentioned picture

The figurehead monarch was my first thought too but I didn't find anyone that fit well enough. The false messiah idea is interesting as well.
I like how Dance Macabre focuses on the painting though, specially with the Demon Pillar approach.
I mean, there are three ideas I could find with the figurehead monarch idea. Sigebert III of Austria would be the first, as he was the first Merovingian king where the mayor of the palace was the real person in control. The fact he became a saint could be why the 'crown' in the image looks so much like a halo, with the skeletal figure being the crystalisation of the many mayors of the palace there where during hisLifereign
The other two are father and son, with the first being Charles Martel, the last mayor of the palace who had true control, and became a fairly famous hero in his own right, with the person being crowned being Theuderic IV, the king for most of Charles military success.
Finally, the one who stopped being the 'power behind the throne' and just became the king Pepin the Short, who managed to get the pope to allow him to end the Merovingian rule and become the first Carolingian king and father of Karl de Gross.

I continued looking into the pic under the consideration that pine likes the danse macabre aspect
here is another figure one may work with
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_H...he_Younger#Art
accomplished portraitist, he painted the Henry VIII, and anne boleyn was most like a patron, and had danse macabre art as well
he lived during the reformation and the change on his view on religion can be seen in his art
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bo...st_in_the_Tomb
depicts christ is a way that makes him appear mere human in a sense, which is new for the time, i believe. still, this painting may explain the crown of thorns in the picture
but the picture that caught my attention is this one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ambassadors_(Holbein)
whats so cool here that he used optical illusions here and hid a skull right there in the picture, acting as a memento mori. one might argue that the skull falls out of the picture

Hey bnel. It’s your turn now.
What the fuck is taking BN so long?
I know this might come as a shock to you nine, but people have more stuff to do in their lives than browse Beast's Lair
That kinda shows what my problem was with finding a royal to do: those are all guys.
And yeah I could genderbend but tbh none of those guys are interesting enough for me to want to make them women just to write them.
I don't know if I'm going to do those but holy shit thanks for introducing me to The Ambassadors. The anamorphic skull in a 16th century painting is insane.
