My guess is they wanted Britomart but her being the Knight of Chastity meant they couldn't dress her lewd so they decided on making up a daughter instead.
Should've just come up with a better design.

Can imagine Beryl sitting Lady S down and feeding her a load of bull about Japan via anime.

My guess is that Sakurai wanted to write a story about succession with a character who would gush a lot about her super cool mother, but also she wanted a Pan-Human hero who could crib the Faerie Knight name. And in the lack of anyone in the middle of that Venn diagram, she made up her own fairy knight daughter.

So is Britomart the 2nd from LB Camelot? And if so have we gotten an explanation as to what her fate was in that LB, for her not to appear?

Effect-wise, it's a lower ranked version of the Incarnated Elemental Skill. Faerie Knight Britomart draws from nature's mana and converts a fixed amount of it into her own magical energy.

Really wish whoever wrote Britomart had used a different title then, like Gloriana's Knights, I wouldn't be surprised if people end up mixing her with the LB Faerie Knights in the future if they forget about this skill and only know she's a Faerie Knight. Unless they are referred this way too in the poem, in this case I guess it's inevitable.

Sometimes, it feels like people hate Sakurai just because they want someone to hate.

    Other times, Britomart exists.

I'm mostly memeing, but the idea that Sakurai doesn't write some egregiously terrible things is ridiculous.

Certainly a curious choice to tie the Faerie Queene to the Historia Regum Britanniae.
Britomart and Artegal's descendants were prophecized to be the monarchs of England in the original poem (this is just another way she's a knockoff version of Bradamante, btw)

Britta Jr is an entirely original character though, as noted earlier

Does Britomart jr. has succession thing going on with her mother as a fae? Like Knocknarea with Mab or Woodwose with Wryneck?

Are you sure she's a Sakurai character? Her profile just doesn't look like the usual Sakurai profiles. By that I mean, usually Sakurai is the one that sticks the more to the original legends and includes a bunch of references to the source material, to the point that the references sometimes get really repetitive on how much she brings them on. This one however, while there are some references to the original work is fill with a bunch of OC changes to it, also the section describing her personality strike me as odd because thats usually not one of the thinks that Sakurai's characters get to have on their in-game profiles. She reads more like maybe a Higashide or a Minase character, or perhaps a collab between writers...

I want to be an Expeditionary Faerie Knight!

In Avalon, The Mage of Flowers speaks to someone. He directs them to Chaldea, the final bastion of mankind. Merlin is sure the person in question has a reason to be interested in Chaldea, aside from the fact they'll meet many fighters to their liking.

Soon after, the evacuation alarm sounds in Novum Chaldea's dock area. An intruder's magical energy signature was detected. Staff is called to evacuate as the area is locked down. The armored shadow asks Fujimaru why they're ignoring the evacuation. As the Master, they can't back down until they know the intruder's purpose. The armored shadow is intrigued at the Heroic Spirit manipulator blocking its path and tries to force its way through.

    --- [Battle against <Armored Knight>] ---

The armored knight is defeated and lowers her spear (Fujimaru points out that's a sword but she still insists on calling it a spear). She thrusts her spear at Fujimaru, but the spearhead dodges them. Seeing this, she apologizes for her rashness and tells them she's not an enemy. She introduces herself as Faerie Knight Britomart, daughter of Britomart, here to visit Her Majesty Queen Morgan. She'd heard the rumors in Avalon that Morgan was here in the bastion of the stargazers, and came alone to ascertain the truth of it.

In the command center, Da Vinci and Mash are trying to treat a hyperventilating Britomart with some cold tea or water. Her armor is hot and suffocating. All the talk before got her gasping for air. Suddenly, Morgan enters the room to check who was the intruder Fujimaru defeated, as she had an unusual magical energy signal. Britomart gets to see Her Majesty, as beautiful as her mom described. A faerie queen rivaling Gloriana in power and presence. Her outburst leads her to pant again. Assured the intruder isn't after Fujimaru's life, Morgan welcomes the Pan-Human Faerie Knight and asks what business she has in Chaldea. Britomart calls herself a Faerie Knight-in-training and would really hope Morgan could appoint her an Expeditionary Faerie Knight. Not a normal one because she's not good at guarding people.

Morgan unfortunately has no need for it. The Britain she ruled no longer exists. And besides, Morgan is not Britomart's queen. It would be rude to Gloriana to appoint Britomart as Morgan's Knight. Morgan warns her to give up. Britomart is visibly dismayed but declares she won't give up. The rumors Merlin spread through Avalon very emphatically mention that Morgan had a bunch of knights who inherited the names of their predecessors.

Morgan acknowledges that 2 out of the 3 Faerie Knights she ordained are a hard-working bunch, but as she tries to explain they aren't the kind of knights Britomart thinks they are, Britomart interrupts, saying she wants to work with her senior name-inheriting knights, to learn what it means to inherit someone's name and what it means to serve a queen. She begs, but Morgan does not relent.

Baobhan Sith enters the room, telling Morgan to leave the situation in her hands. She'd been listening from outside. Of course, Baobhan finds Morgan's patience with the interloper admirable, but too nice to get through her head. Annoying pests like this you've gotta be stern with, so they get it. Britomart has the kinda face that won't take no for an answer. Spinel can clearly see all of Barghest's thickheadedness and Melusine's brashness in her. She suggests Morgan reveal her secret project to make Britomart learn her lesson.

There was a Gil-Fest, was it? Nero-Fest? Doesn't matter. You know what it is. To prepare for the inevitable return of the festival, I thought it would be a good idea to study the mood... I mean, the common sense of Pan-Human History. Me and a few collaborators diligently constructed my simulator space.

The Athletic Zone, by Morgan, her Faerie Knights, Scathach, Reines, Kiichi, and Blackbeard. The name is written in the classic ateji font of Japanese delinquent gangs because Barghest has been borrowing too many 80's shounen manga from Blackbeard. It's a genre not available in Fairy Britain, so she took every recommendation Teach had for her. Barghest is a bit embarrassed to admit it, but she's thrilled by the themes of courage, adventure, turnabout, effort, friendship, and victory (yes, those last three are the Shounen Jump slogan quoted verbatim). Baobhan, however, doesn't read low-class stuff like manga and believes the word "thrilled" should be reserved for horror movies.

Anyways, Spinel put a lot of effort into the sports fields. The swimming pool is lava, the balance beam puts blade pendulums in the gymnast's way, every swamp is poisoned, etc. Overlooking all this are the two commentators, Taigong Wang on play-by-play, and Merlin on color. They comment on the crazy danger posed by the fields. This is what happens when you let Chaldea's mentor trio and the fae be in charge of deciding how dangerous something is. They've got their work cut out for them. Broadcast assistant Douman praises their clever scheme, immediately taking the commentator positions so they won't have to participate. Regardless, look now at those unknowing Servants who have come expecting some training in the simulation room!

Caenis, Hercules and Achilles look over the courses, thinking it'll be no big deal. Arash and Orion seem excited to try it all. Mordred says she'll just blast the courses away if they get too annoying, causing Gareth to chide her, until Gawain explains that actually, for once, Mordred has the right idea. He calls attention to the sign with the rules. You're always competing not just against the courses, but other teams as well. Kinda like a race. Interfering with other teams is completely permitted. Percival still thinks she should behave more chivalrously, though: only use Clarent fair and square.

Huyan Zhuo, Yan Qing, and Shi Jin Liz discuss the winner's prize. The spoils are for the Outlaws of the Marsh to take. Yan Qing muses about what could the prize actually be. Kintoki, Tametomo, and Touta also discuss the presumably GOLDEN reward. Tametomo seems excited, in his unique robotic way.

The commentators come back on the mic, discussing how the rumors of the prize are spreading. He hands over to Lady Avalon, reporting live on the scene. She did some snooping, and found out the prize is a Grail, or at least that's what the rumors say. Merlin asks Taigong and Douman who are they talking to, but Taigong assumes Merlin not acknowledging Lady Avalon is an inside joke he has to roll along with. Merlin has also heard there are rumors of receiving territory. So many monarch Servants are joining as well.

The camera switches over to Charlemagne, Bradamante, and Roland. Astolfo has gone off somewhere. Charlemagne isn't that interested in conquest, but he finds the idea of fighting all the different heroes awesome. In another corner, Darius, Lu Bu, and Spartacus have teamed up. They can barely talk. Following them, there is Medb, Castoria, and Fergus. Medb wants some more land, to Fergus's shock. He thinks she already has enough with just her bedroom and her simulator domain. That's a huge % of the world already conquered by her considering only Chaldea and the Wandering Sea are left in it. But Medb can't let herself get rusty. Good-looking braves dream of the day they can see her getting new land.
Quote Originally Posted by Arthuria Caster

Back to the commentators, Taigong has the same reaction to Castoria's presence in the Celt team. Merlin tells Medb dragged her along. Douman points out yet another strange pairing: Helena and Nitocris. Helena has heard a rumor the prize was new magecraft here. She doesn't trust the rumors completely but still can't miss her chance. Nitocris, on the other hand, shows a flustered disinterest in present-day magecraft, but Helena tries to sell her on the Mahatmaness of finding a new magecraft different in principle from her ancient Egyptian magecraft, the Clock Tower's model, Philosophy Magecraft, and even runes. Helena's optimism seems to be pulling her along, as much as she refuses to admit it. Molay asks why Helena brought her along, as she's not even a Caster, and Helena responds with a simple "What kind of Templar would miss out on a ritual?".

Next is the team of the two Oeis and Michi. The Foreigner version cringed at the Saber version excitedly shouting about her ambitions to beat the bests of the sword and get scouted to Kunlun. Michi advises Foreigner to be kinder on her younger self, to no avail. Sigurd and Siegfried look on at the pumped-up Hokusai; she'll make a great rival for their attempt to claim the prize. Still, they've gotta be careful; behind them stand Brynhildr and Kriemhild. The two women decide to team up as well, with Kriemhild proposing they find the perfect opportunity to get in the way of their husbands. Summer and Santa Martha have also teamed up, with Tarasque acting as their third member. They surmise he can handle some saw-blades. Quetz tries to recruit Penth into her muscle-girl team but gets flat-out rejected.

The next team is the two Koyanskayas and Nikitich, with the latter excited to play with these modern toys (the obstacle courses). Light tries to inform Nikitich that they aren't toys, but Darkness stops her, reminding her that the Celts and fae can't design killing implements up to their level. Nikitich tells them not to worry, she'll protect them. She can do it! Back to the commentators. Taigong tries to comment on the overall excitement of the whole array of competitors, though Merlin can tell he's actually talking about the Tunguska team.

Mephistopheles and Phantom make Babbage emit a bunch of steam, on Xu Fu and Zhang Jue's team, causing her to drop her spell. The deal was that she could go talk to Mei-ren after she finished setting up, but now she has to start over, but she can make an extra spiteful spell. Lady Avalon explains that Xu Fu and Jue are the staff team manufacturing the obstacle courses. Assistant reporter Douman also worked on some of the obstacle course spells.

And speaking of staff, the three who coordinated all of this are the mentor trio or Scathach, Reines, and Kiichi. Scathach explains she's got help from Skadi too, who wants to atone for Summer. They're different people, but they have a feeling of kinship regardless. Scathach feels it's her big sister duty to help with her little sister's amends. Scathach is very proud of this quote, although the broadcast team is unimpressed. Back on topic, the fae have cruel tastes, but their execution felt too much like child's play to Servants in the simulator, so the trio made sure the thing felt like a real trial. They wish luck to the team of Fujimaru and Britomart. She's very nervous to compete against the heroes of all lands and eras. With all this adversity before her, she takes off her armor and proudly announces she's fired up.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Continuing where Arrow 1 left off, Fujimaru is shocked to learn she was a woman inside the armor. She explains she wears her armor as training gear, not for its defensive power but for its weight. But in this exciting training field, she cast off her weights to go all out against the greatest warriors. Her vigor reminds Merlin of the first Britomart. As a side note, Merlin explains her armor is a Noble Phantasm that keeps granting its official owner the blessings of defense even if they're not wearing it. He also notes it looks stronger than it did in the old Britomart's time. The rest of the broadcast team asks Merlin about the first Britomart and he retells how they first met and her rash enthusiasms caused her to make assumptions and punch King Arthur in the face.

And here begins the Athletic Zone event. An obstacle race with free-for-all rules. Attacking opponents is allowed. Setting traps is allowed. The more adversity piles up, the more Britomart is up for the challenge. Astraea praises her courage and offers to join her. The daughter of Astraea's beloved son Artegall recognizes Astraea as... someone who really resembles her grandmother for some reason. Mash notes that Astraea really is Britomart's husband Artegall's foster mother, making her basically this Britomart's grandmother, but Brit insists she's "someone who resembles my grandmother". Astraea prefers to be called just grandmother, but can't get through, commenting on how this Britomart's skull is as thick as her mother's. She loves her granddaughter's straightforwardness but believes this won't get her through the challenges ahead, she gifts her with two reliable teammates: Waver and Gray.

Waver finds the idea of putting him in an obstacle course absurd. Even as a Pseudo-Servant, no one should expect anything from his physical capabilities. Gray is more worried about Baobhan Sith constantly eyeing her from a distance, but when she comments on it, Spinel runs to her and insists she wasn't sneaking, she was boldly observing her without hiding anything. She thinks Gray's face is a waste with no make-up and invites her to her room later, as she has the perfect cosmetics for Gray. Astraea can tell Spinel is trying to pull Gray to her own team and shoos her away, telling her she recruited Gray first. Baobhan leaves, telling Gray to come to see her if she wants to get pretty, as Baobhan assures her she will. Waver comments on Gray's power to attract ill-natured people, causing Reines in the staff area to sneeze.

And with that our main Athletic Zone team is set. Gray, Waver, Mash, Fujimaru, Astraea, and the second Britomart. Brit swears to face Morgan's challenge and get her title of Expeditionary Faerie Knight. It's on.
