The website lists the team making it as Omega Force, who have almost only done musou games. I would be very shocked if it was something else.

Yeah, but the Koei website also lists the genre as "Action RPG" while every Musou of theirs is listed as "Tactical Action" instead.
Persona 5 Striker is Action RPG, same label as Samurai Remnant.
So it seems like we aren't really sure what kind of game this is. They are putting a lot of faith in the fate brand to announce the game and not give any info on it.
We don't even have a release date, so why do we need any other info until then?
It's a Koei game, developed by Omega Force. Safe expectation is the usual Musou gameplay, but we have nothing else to talk about until there's more information.
Samurai Remnant has been rated by the ESRB https://www.esrb.org/ratings/39372/f...murai-remnant/
More than the rating, the description gives us a bit of an idea of the gameplay.
- - - Updated - - -Players explore cities, interact with characters, complete objectives, and engage in melee-style combat.
I haven't played too many musou but exploring cities and interacting with characters doesn't really sound like the ones I have.
Are they using Hi-Fi Rush strategy here? The complete description gives me the impression that the game is complete, or at least in its final stage, but so far only one teaser trailer is shown.
A friend of mine worked for ESRB about 10 years ago, and he generally rated games 1 month before release.
I expect SR to be one of the "upcoming Type-Moon projects" shown at the GO panel at Anime Expo
last chance to speculate before info is known. What exactly do you think this will be about? What era will it take place in? Will it be sengoku era, or will this just be Shimosa 2.
The ESRB website says it's Edo Period though I guess they could be misinformed.
Also one of the dialogue examples when they list alcohol references confirms the entire cast won't be Japanese ( “I'm quite fond of this country's liquor”).
The ESRB description mentions about "characters decapitating serpent creatures", and I think that serpent in question is Yamata-no-Orochi, which is the origin of Kusanagi blade, which in turn related to Yamato Takeru.
Watch it be just the hydra enemies or the orochi bunreis we already farmed in FGO.
Or a version of Medusa that just throws snakes around.
