    Anime of the Year 2022

2022 is over and done with, so what were your favourites from this last year. Best overall, biggest surprise, OP's, ED's, most iskeai isekai to ever isekai, lots of boobs, whatever your criteria are.

I'd make a poll but there's no way to list everything.

My AOTS is Summertime Render. It's been a long time since a show has drawn me in like that. The fact it's a complete story really helps too, knowing I don't have to wait years to see if S1 sold enough BDs for the story to finish.

    Honourable mentions to:

Shenmue: for actually being good, putting it above every other thing suing that name.
Sabikui Bisco: For being just insane anime personified.
Ya Boi Kongming: That OP alone is worth watching the whole series
    Birdie Wing: Golf. Mafia.
Call of the Night: As someone often out at 2am, it's just my vibes.
Ao Ashi: My favourite sports show since Welcome to the Ballroom.
Akiba Maid War: for being 12 episode Yakuza substory.
    Gundam: Revolutionary Girl Suletta.
Cyberpunk: Holy Shit did Trigger go hard.
Bocchi the Rock: But not as hard as Cloverworks did. Seriously what the fuck.
Binged All Of Gundam In 4 Years, 1 Week and All I Got Was This Stupid Mask

FF XIV: Walked to the End

Started Legend of the Galactic Heroes (14/07/23), pray for me.

Summertime Render and Chainsaw Man for me. Although I didn't watch that many shows this year so basically everything I did is in my faves.

It's between Chainsawman and Gundam, though I haven't seen Summertime Render and Mob yet and I'm pretty excited for those.

Sono Bisque Doll for me. It's one of two shows that aired that made me look up the source material AND continue with the source material (the other being Yofukashi no Uta, but that isn't as good even if I do enjoy it).

A real solid romcom. Too bad it came out so close to a Kaguya season, that show really sucked up everyone's attention.

As a fan of Gundam for a long time, I choose Bocchi the Rock. Not because Gundam is disappointing for me, so far it has been extremely fantastic, it just Bocchi way beyond that for me.

I didn't really watch that much this year, even though I really wanted to (haven't even started Bleach), but I guess I'll say Gundam.
Even if you didn't really enjoy it, Witch has proven that it doesn't play it safe in the overall context of the franchise, and I'm all here for it. I
    dread
    await
the oncoming depression of the second half.

Worthy shoutout is Fuuto Tantei, if nothing else than the fact that the people working on it had a visible love for the franchise, as well as made the suits actually look good in animated form.

By second half, do you mean the batch of 13-24 that's coming in April or the inevitable second season to bring the episode count up to the normal 50ish?

Yeah I've been wondering about that. For some reason I kinda get the impression that this might actually be the first big 24 episode AU Gundam show.

I mean, 00 and IBO were split up into 2 seasons, but each season was 24/25 episodes. Now, yes, I just checked and MAL listed the April thing as Part 2. But then what, are they gonna do 4 individual 12 episode parts? The industry is different nowadays with 12 episodes being the norm, but would Sunrise of all studios really do something like that?

I also don't really know of any other shows that did that. Closest is something like Bungou Stray Dogs, but that still calls them 'Seasons'. Feel free to let me know how wrong I am, though.

The same way they sold the SAO BD's would be my guess. Season 1 Part 1/2, Season 2 part 1/2. I vaguely remember that's how they IBO too, since I remember seeing Part2 on the shelves, while S2 was airing and wondering what was going on.
