God damn, Takasugi is horny. Not complaining, though. Ritsuka getting action twice this year so far is funny.
The chapter opens with another date flashcard. This one says:
Sixth year of the Ansei era, 10th month, 27th day (1859, November 21st)
Edo, Tenmachou Prison
We see Yoshida in prison. A guard has come to take him away. When asked for any final words, he simply says that in this moment, he will die for his country, but his loyalty will never die, and his disciples will carry on his legacy. He then asks for a letter to be delivered to his hometown. The guard obliges, and they leave the prison. Yoshida kneels, and the executioner's blade falls.
Even if my body falls on the Musashi Plain
The spirit of Yamato will remain forever.
Thus occurred the decapitation of Yoshida Shoin.
---
Back in the Singularity, you're still squaring off against the Tokugawa spirits. They are the collective victims of the restoration, having lost even their very selves. Takasugi conjectures that the spirits were manipulating Yoshida, then, but they say that's not quite right. They are nothing more than a grudge drifting through this land, following the Bloody Surrender of Edo Castle; an entity possessing goal, but no vessel. And so, they used the Holy Grail to summon themselves a vessel: the man named Yoshida Shoin. However, things didn't go as planned for them. Turns out that Yoshida kept the spirit entirely in check, even going as far as cutting them off from the conscious actions of his being. He even started acting towards things that were not their own goal. Meanwhile, they had to sit in the shadow and watch.
In other words, you fucked up and actually freed this collective grudge from their prison. Moreover, you've managed to secure a new vessel for them: this very ship; a threat from the outside world which will allow their closed-off world to reach perfection. An eternal Tokugawa world. In a sense, you have now become the heroes who saved the Tokugawa Shogunate.
The spirit possesses the ship itself, and assumes the embodiment of the threat of western civilization. However, now that they have taken on this role, there will be nothing to fear from such a thing any longer. They will use the ship's power to close off this Singularity and resurrect Edo once and for all. Though their names are lost to the annals of history, they declare themselves the 16th Tokugawa Shogun.
They actually say they'll spare you the history lesson here, so all that matters now is that the real mastermind has been revealed finally. While Takasugi finds being the mastermind a very fulfilling role, having someone else pull that on him quite hurts. He tells Kipposhi to blast the ship, since they have a connection to Tokugawa via Ieyasu, but since they were allies, it won't work that well, so Kipposhi passes to Hector. Hector in turn says this is way too much for him, so he passes to Kojiro. Kojiro knows just swinging a sword around won't do much here, so he passes it right back. Well, now surely is the time for you to pull out your hidden reinforcements in the form of Ryoma and the Shinsengumi, right? Well, that's obviously too convenient, so you really have no choice but to work together as a team here and do your best.
However, reinforcements do arrive, but not in the form you expect. Yoshida, all bloody, approaches you, offering a helping hand. You remark that he's regained concsciousness, but just as the spirit said, he reiterates that he was conscious the whole time, and acting towards securing Chaldea was his own goal, and nothing else. No one else can be allowed to come in the way of that, and he knows the same is true for Takasugi. That's why he's happy that in the end, he called Takasugi to this Singularity.
Yoshida declares that the only one who can defeat the Tokugawa Kurofune is Arahabaki. Unfortunately, it was destroyed in the previous battle, so you'll have to fix it. While you take Takasugi and Yoshida to do that, the rest of your party will try to hold the ship off.
Arahabaki is really badly damaged, though. Yoshida is of the firm belief that you should do nothing half-assed, so he really went all out against it. Still, he says that the reason Takasugi lost last time was because of lacking ambition in his heart. He was so determined that he had to accomplish everything by himself. Perhaps it was a long-lasting regret from being unable to save Kusaka and the rest of his friends. Anyway, since the strange god is now a mere iron giant, this form will not do. In the first place, it requires a core with a Saint Graph of Divine Spirit class. As such, Yoshida says, he will be the core of this god.
Meanwhile, the rest of the party is doing their best to hold off the ship, but it's not going great. Not even Nobunaga is able to withstand this much power. But just in the nick of time, the ground rumbles heavily, and up rises a mechanical giant.
Takasugi apologizes for making them wait, but says he's here to win this battle now. The Tokugawa Kurofune thinks this is stupid; last time the strange god didn't even scratch the ship. However, last time, Takasugi was alone in his endeavor. He had forgotten that even him founding the Kiheitai was a means of saving the country alongside his friends; to accomplish what he could not do alone.
The black ship lets loose its cannons. In the end, principles and negotiations are meaningless against such overwhelming power, just as was the case for the shogunate back then. However, Takasugi says, if one loses their motivation before even trying, then nothing can be accomplished. As the dust settles, both Takasugi and the Strange God stand unschathed. By incorporating a divine spirit core into the strange god, it's more powerful than ever. Well, Yoshida isn't exactly a Divine Spirit, but as he wrote once (TL note: I can't actually find this exact source anywhere, but it was supposedly in response to Takasugi once asking "when is a man to die?"): "If there is hope of everlasting life after death, then lay down your life whenever. If there is hope of great deeds in life, then strive to live always."
Basically, he's laying down his entire existence for the purpose of this battle (which I guess elevates him to divine status, idfk), and Takasugi is not going to lag behind in that aspect. He deploys his super-boosted Noble Phantasm on all the other Servants using the magical energy surplus from the reactors. Now begins the great battle for the Meiji Restoration upheaval.
[Battle against <16th Shogun: Tokugawa Kurofune>]
By going all out, you manage to defeat the Kurofune and end their dream of an eternal shogunate. Yoshida exits from the strange god, but is heavily injured, coughing blood constantly. Takasugi, in his attempts to console his teacher, is suffering much the same fate. That said, Yoshida begins disappearing, while Takasugi seems like he can remain for a while longer. Perhaps it is just like Yoshida says: if there is a chance of everlasting life, then they should die, and if there's a chance for great deeds, they should live.
Before they depart, Takasugi asks why it was him specifically that was called here by Yoshida. The answer is simple: if you are to fight the tokugawa shogunate, then there is no better man for it than Takasugi Shinsaku.
In the end, if there's someone who never actually accomplished anything, Yoshida will be the first to take on that title. He complained and raved so much about the crisis Japan was facing, but then dropped dead out of nowhere. Takasugi at least dealt a major blow to the shogunate. However, that's not entirely true. Because it's not all about what one accomplishes, but how one lives, and what one passes along. In Yoshida's case, he was the source of all the Chōshū fighters' inspiration. The path he lay down will never disappear, as long as others continue to walk it, and extend it into the future.
In the end, Takasugi was always Yoshida's best student, and now he must go with Chaldea. No matter the slanders or wrongdoings of his life, Yoshida is sure that Takasugi will lay down a path of his own, and no one else's, that others are sure to follow even after this.
And with his final parting words, just like in life, Yoshida disappears.
Even if my body falls on the Musashi Plain
The spirit of Yamato will remain forever.
Takasugi wipes the blood from his face. You heard his teacher: he has great things to accomplish, so as long as his contract with you persists, he will continue to live. And so, he asks that you show him the Chaldea and outside world which Yoshida so yearned for.
Elsewhere, the spirit of the shogunate seems to have survived the destruction of the kurofune. They declare that they will simply rise up again in due time, as they've done before. Emiya Alter finds them in the street, surprised they're still around. The spirit is glad to see its henchman still here, and orders the Servant, who was so obviously "being manipulated by the daifuku" to go and shoot the enemies in the back now that they're all weakened. Well, if that's the last order of business, then that's just what he'll do. Emiya Alter pulls the trigger and shoots the Tokugawa spirit right in the back.
Turns out that Emiya never even ate the daifuku, because of some dumb reason like he's lost his sense of taste so there's no point in him indulging in sweets. Basically, he was never brainwashed, he just agreed with Yoshida's ambition. The only order he actually received from Yoshida was to fight Takasugi Heavy Industries, and since they are no more, now it's time for him to do what he does best, and clean up the scum hanging around the grail. He deploys his Noble Phantasm, and swords manifest from within the spirit, eliminating it.

TL note: while I was looking for some of the quotes in English, I actually noticed that the "those without dreams cannot succeed" speech from a previous chapter is also a real quote of Yoshida. I wasn't able to actually find some like "professional" old translation of it or anything though, so just know that it was an actual thing he wrote down. I'm sure there are other things he said in this chapter that are direct quotes, but not gonna go back to look.
Back in Chaldea, everyone's having drinks. Takasugi offers to play his Shamisen, and once he recognizes Mashu, he asks her to join in with her horn. He also declares that now that he's here, he won't allow Ryoma to be the most interesting man around anymore. Izou is having a hard time keeping his liquor down, to which Takasugi says Shinbei wouldn't bat an eye at this, which makes Izou perk up and start downing drinks like there's no tomorrow.
Seeing this scene, Ryoma smiles to himself. It got him thinking about the good old days, when everyone around Takasugi were always smiling. That was always the case, ever since the first day they met in Edo. Takasugi raises a glass to him, as now they can finally be "friends" here as part of Chaldea as well.
In what appears to be back in the Singularity still, Emiya Alter is having a drink. Okuni approaches him, asking if the next seat is taken, to which he responds yes, but she sits down anyway. She orders drinks for both herself and Emiya, and he says she can sit there if she doesn't bother him, but she just continues talking as if he's actually listening to what she's saying. She's tired of working behind the scenes all the time, but for now, she just raises a glass to Yoshida before the Singularity is about to disappear.
Back in Chaldea, the next day, Takasugi wakes up in your room (but not in your bed, I might add). He drank too much last night, and Izou just went and threw up everywhere, so he had nowhere else to sleep. Well, now that he's up and about, he'll go steal some more alcohol from Gordolf for a welcome party. Oh, and before he forgets, he hands you the Holy Grail from the Singularity. It's your souvenir to remember your time at his company. Now that he's here in Chaldea, you will have lots of interesting moments, both with him, and perhaps at some point, with Yoshida as well.
SEX
EMIYA alter is just kind of a fucking asshole huh. And wow, cool mecha battle.
That said it's nice that Yoshida finally said some nice words to Takasugi at the last second and Takasugi remains a shameless flirt. I'm looking forward to his Valentine's scene next year

The way this jump scared me because it wasn't there while I was typing....
I'm subscribed to Plushie Mistress and one of the videos I got recommended was this one that uses IK for the first Nobu:
Good luck to those farming, I'm gonna go play Metroid Prime Remake instead.
I just kept the same party that I farmed all the other nodes with for 90++ and it can handle it so that's pretty sweet
Now that we know Takasugi is Archer, and presumably saber was Zuizan, have they ever hinted at who were the Rider and Berserker for GudaGuda6?
One of them was non-Servantverse Ranmaru.
So, what did B to B mean?

he's the worst
Just been using the Gilgamesh + 100 Lunchtime, level 80 Arash + 100 Detective Four (actually broke down and grailed a non-SSR, fuck this stupid game that locks the closest thing to unlimited grails behind servant coins), Yami, Hikari, and Oberon. Probably a better setup but can't be arsed to care enough, starting to think that even with two regular SSR CEs, I won't be able to get enough points to finish the point ladder unless I'm actively taking Oberon/Yami/Hikari with a mlb SSR CE to have a +120% bonus instead of +60% bonus.
