The kind of guy that screams “youth pastor” just by looking at him.
The kind of guy that all the church mothers secretly have a crush on. He doesn’t exactly dissuade this kind of behavior, either.
If you’re visibly upset, he’ll sit right down and ask what’s up. If you have questions, he’ll do his best to answer them. But there’s a difference between genuine constructive conversation, and wasting a man’s time. He’s the kind of guy who will let you know which one you’re guilty of as soon as it comes up.

Alias: The Great Magus of Mormonism
The President
The Apostle of Esoterism
Gender: Male
Age: 44
Birthplace: New York, United States
Affiliation: Esoteric Mormon Society (EMS)
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
“My name is Gabriel P. Price, President of the Esoteric Mormon Society. Now I suppose you think my little group is rather ridiculous, don't you? I can assure you that this new Christian order is anything but ridiculous. Did you know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the fourth largest religion in the United States? This young nation that you so despise may hold secrets that you have never imagined. This faith, it hides something... It hides a truth. And I will be the magus to understand and master it. Laugh, laugh while you can. I believe in this naive nation.”

“Mysteries are everywhere around us. It is the duty of a magus to solve them.”
Biography
Born in 1971 in New York City, USA, Gabriel P. Price was the eldest child of a small family of magi, and was introduced to the mysteries of magecraft at an early age. Possessing excellent magic circuits by the Price family standards, he was soon sent to study at the North American branch of the Clock Tower. As he showed potential, the branch director, Jameon Ze-Oldar, wrote a letter of recommendation to the Clock Tower in London for him to study there. Although he was considered talented in the United States, when he arrived in London in 1984 he realized the power gap between the magi of the USA and the rest of the world. Throughout his studies he remained a good student, although he was not singled out as a talented or promising individual. He was a student in the Archaeology department, where he learned Spiritual Evocation and Kabbalah.
After several years at the Clock Tower, Gabriel found himself stuck, unable to truly grow as a magus, but in 1989 the North American branch contacted him and offered him the position of Professor. The branch was understaffed, and although Gabriel realized that a career in the New World was nothing to be proud of, he decided to accept the offer. However, always wanting to achieve more in his life as a magus, he began to study the ancient civilisations of the Americas, in particular the Mohawk, Olmec, Teotihuacan, Siouan, Iroquoian, Yok-Utian and Toltec. In 1993 he met Aaron Hill, a magus but also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was absolutely mediocre, even by the standards of the North American branch, but what surprised him was that the basis of his magecraft was the Book of Mormon. This book was supposed to trace over a thousand years of history of a civilisation that inhabited ancient America. As an expert on pre-Columbian civilisations, he knew that this book was a work of fiction, far removed from historical reality. But Aaron's powers were far too strong to be a product of faith alone, there had to be a 'reality' on which he was basing his powers, a foundation. So he organized archaeological research to better understand this mystery.
In 1994 he discovered the Golden Plates, the ones Joseph Smith allegedly used to write the Book of Mormon and which were sent back to heaven. Realizing the authenticity of these plates and the phenomenal power they exuded, he became fascinated with Mormonism. He left the Clock Tower to found his own organization specializing in researching the thaumaturgical foundation of Mormonism, which he named the Esoteric Mormon Society.
However, his organization attracted few magi, as few people were interested in researching a minor US religion. Nevertheless, Gabriel persisted. With Aaron's help, he approached and joined the Church of Jesus Christ, despite his apparent lack of faith. As he continued his research, he was eventually able to approach Gordon B. Hinckley, the President of the Church of Jesus Christ, and convinced him of the value of investing in his organization. Indeed, the President felt threatened by the Roman Catholic Church, which considered him a heretic and could easily destroy his religion with their knowledge of the supernatural. To defend himself, Gordon Hinckley gave his support to Grabriel. He became one of the 12 Apostles in 2015.
Mystic Codes
Paradox of God
Golden Plates
They are the source from which Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon, a sacred text of faith that serves as the basis for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Smith said he found the plates on 22 September 1823 on a hill near his home in Manchester, New York, after the angel Moroni directed him to a buried stone box. He said the angel prevented him from taking the plates, but instructed him to return to the same place in a year. He returned to that location each year, but it was not until September 1827 that he retrieved the plates on his fourth annual attempt. He returned with a heavy object wrapped in a robe, which he placed in a box. He allowed others to lift the box, but said that the angel had forbidden him to show the plates to anyone until they had been translated from their original language of 'reformed Egyptian'. After the translation was completed, Smith said he returned the plates to the angel, but he did not give details of this experience.
It is a powerful Mystic Code that Gabriel discovered in his archaeological excavations, its rank being that of a Noble Phantasm, a "crystallised mystery" that Joseph Smith would possess if ever summoned as a servant. The Golden Plates possess an energy similar to that of the most sacred of relics, such as the Ark of the Covenant. However, unlike Catholicism or Hebraism, the stories told in the Book of Mormon are pure fiction. Historically incompatible with pre-Columbian civilisations, they are undoubtedly the invention of Joseph Smith. Yet the plates exist and have real power. A living paradox, something "that did not exist and yet exists''. Gabriel calls it a "truth" out of a "lie" and "the greatest mystery in America". The Golden Plates are the source of all magecrafts related to Mormonism, its foundation. Thus the ability of the Noble Phantasm is to confirm the existence of the mysteries of Mormonism, to manifest the unreal into reality. The plates are a direct link to the world of God according to the Book of Moron, something that connects this world to a world that does not exist.
Guiding Faith
Liahona
The Liahona is an object found in the Book of Mormon. It is a brass ball containing two needles that gave direction - like a compass - and spiritual guidance to Lehi and those with him when they were righteous. This Mystic Code was constructed by Gabriel and given authenticity by the Golden Plates. It is an object that directly affects destiny and allows the user to reach the most favourable end if the needle is followed. However, the scope of the Mystic Code seems limited, as it only applies to the field of travel and only takes into account the user's health rather than their goals.
Light and Perfection
Teraphim
The Teraphim, better known as the Urim and Thummim, is the relic that Joseph Smith reported finding on the Mount of Cumorah with the Golden Plates. The Urim and Thummim are instruments prepared by God for receiving revelation and translating languages. In Hebrew, the words mean lights and perfections. However, the object Gabriel possesses, like the Liahona, is an object of his own making, a Mystic Code constructed to better control the power of the Golden Plates. It looks like a metal glove with two long claws, and according to Gabriel it is the Urim and Thummim. However, the Mystic Code extends deep into his body and is merged with his nervous system, at this level it can be said to be an extension of his body. The Golden Plates are housed within the glove.
As Urim and Thummim, the Teraphim have the faculty of divination. This means that Gabriel can analyze the things he points to, giving detailed information about their molecular structure. However, the object may have difficulty analyzing certain things, such as Divine Constructs.
Magecraft
Kabbalah
Kabbalah is a thaumaturgical system, the Hebrew word for 'to receive'. It is based on the belief that coded messages have been left in sacred texts such as the Bible, which contain 'light' from the Swirl of the Root and can give power to those who decipher and use them. Kabbalists use various systems to find mystical meanings in the arrangements of letters and numbers. In particular, Gabriel developed his own form of Kabbalah, based on the scriptures of the Book of Mormon, and used it to perform new miracles.
Spiritual Evocation
Spiritual Evocation is one of the thaumaturgical systems for invoking beings or effecting spiritual possession. It includes "invocation", the technique of attracting a higher spirituality into oneself, and "evocation", the technique of invoking spirituality outside oneself.
Angel Summoning:
Gabriel is able to summon the spirits of angels, not real angels but those existing according to the cosmology of Mormonism. Through the Golden Plates, these phantoms become genuine articles. They are spirits without physical bodies, so when they are summoned an ether body is provided for them. They serve as relatively powerful familiars, but an experienced magus should be able to get rid of them without much trouble.
Moroni Summoning:
The summoning of the angel Moroni, the one who guided Joseph Smith to the Golden Plates. He is a pillar figure in Mormonism and has special authority over it. He is able to use all the ordinances of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the same extent as Gabriel.
“An existence similar to mine, ah but don't try to talk to him. It won't respond, it's just a familiar without free will. It is an artificial spirit, it did not really exist.”
Tongue of Angels:
In Mormonism, according to Nephi, angels speak by the power of the Holy Spirit. Their words have the power to convince anyone who hears them; it is a powerful spell of mental manipulation that allows Gabriel to summon within himself the power of the Holy Spirit to convince the people he speaks to. According to him, it is a spell relatively close to what his family traditionally practises. Even a magus will be inclined to trust him with this divine tongue.
Ordinance
Ordinances are techniques similar to the Sacraments of the Church, but adapted to the Church of Jesus Christ. These ordinances therefore include the removal of heretical creatures and blessings of healing. Normally these are poor imitations of the true Sacraments, but thanks to the Golden Plates, Gabriel has reached a level beyond that of the Church. He is therefore able to manifest techniques for exorcizing spirits and destroying vampires or other types of demons.
Ordination to the Priesthood:
In the Latter-day Saint movement, priesthood is the power and authority of God given to man, including the authority to perform ordinances and to act as a leader in the church. Gabriel has the greatest authority over the followers of Jesus, so he is able to use this spell to offer a special status to his allies, that of a priest. This is confirmation that the individual has obtained validation as a practitioner of the ordinances and is thus able to use most of Gabriel's spells with high effectiveness.
“As President of the Esoteric Society of Mormon, this spell is essential. Honestly, without this ordinance, all the magi in the organization would be absolutely mediocre in combat. I'm afraid I'm the only decent magus...”
Endowment of the Holy Spirit:
An ordinance that refers to the spiritual gifts given to the followers of Jesus on the Day of Pentecost, in which they were 'gifted with power from above'. Following these early confirmations, Mormons manifested what they considered to be spiritual gifts such as visions, prophecy, the gift of healing, the gift of knowledge, the gift of languages. It allows one to obtain or bestow gifts from God such as Clairvoyance enabling visions of the future, past and present, sharing of information between individuals, healing and enhancement of parameters.
Temple Creation:
A sacrament to create a Bounded Field that represents a "temple". Latter-day Saints believe that temples are the holiest places on earth, sanctuaries from the distractions and busyness of life. A temple is a place where the most cherished human relationships are made eternal. Temples are literally the houses of God. The territory created has the ability of concealment, like any well-designed Bounded Field, but also many protections for those who dwell within. The barrier protects against curses, offers the blessing of regeneration of flesh, but also of magical energy. It is particularly effective in repelling and even eliminating heretical creatures.
God is Man, Man is God
Eternal Progression
Eternal Progression is Gabriel P. Price's ultimate magecraft, it is a direct application of the Golden Plates and therefore requires their possession for its proper functioning. It is the Mormon idea that mankind can attain the highest level of salvation, live eternally in the presence of God, continue as a family, become gods, create worlds and have spiritual children over whom they will rule. Indeed, in Mormon cosmology, God was once a mortal man like we are, and man has the potential to become a god with the same powers. This magecraft allows the user to actualise this mystery in an attempt to get closer to the omnipotence of God. However, it cannot be said that Gabriel is a god, since the cosmology presented by the Church of Jesus Christ is not real, his existence is confirmed by the Golden Plates, but their power is not sufficient to change the laws of the universe. He is more an imitation of an angel than a real God.
Resurrection:
According to the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the term resurrection means the literal reunification of the spirit with the physical body after death. After the resurrection, the spirit and body are eternally and perfectly united. It is the body that is owned by the Creator God, Elohim. Latter-day Saints teach that resurrected bodies are not susceptible to sickness or pain. The Book of Mormon states that "all things will be restored to their proper and perfect state". As a skill A pseudo-immortality that, although flawed, is still something that most magi would give everything to obtain. His soul and body tend to stay together, meaning that it would be difficult for a magus to rip out his soul without using high-level magecraft or destroying his body.
“A body I require to continue my studies, but if I go any further with my modifications I fear I will lose my humanity. If I try to get too close to the God of the Mormons, it is possible that real angels will mistake me for a heavenly being and take me away. I have no business in heaven, my calling is to live on earth.”
Hand of God:
Hand of God is the power of God used to create the universe. According to Mormon scripture, "the elements are eternal". This means, according to Smith, that the elements coexist with God and "can be organised and reorganised, but not destroyed. They had no beginning and cannot have an end. This principle was elaborated by Brigham Young, who said: "God never made anything out of nothing; it is not in the economy or law by which the worlds were, are, or will exist". Thus, Mormons deny creation ex nihilo and instead believe that God created or "organised" the universe from pre-existing elements. It is important to understand that Mormons believe in a universe and a God governed by physical laws in which all miracles, including acts of God, have a natural explanation, although science does not yet have the tools or means to explain them.
Through this power, Gabriel is able to rearrange and manipulate matter at will. It is a power with a staggering potential, but limited by size. At most, Gabriel can rearrange things the size of a car. It works in a similar way to projection magecraft, but unlike projection magecraft, Gabriel needs elements that can be broken down to form the desired object. Surprisingly, he has extraordinary precision, allowing him to construct small machinery. This ability combines particularly well with the teraphim and their analytical abilities. It is necessary to have a good understanding of physics and the composition of the elements in the universe to be able to produce things efficiently.
Ether Wings:
Ether Wings is a direct application of his Hand of God spell, a sort of Mystic Code that Gabriel can create at any time using his own magecraft. It consists of 6 wings created not from the 4 basic elements, but from the imaginary 5th factor, ether. According to the teachings of the Mage's Association, ether combines with one of the other four elements to unlock the secrets of thaumaturgy. Although amorphous and incapable of materialising on its own, it is the element that allows formless bodies to take on material form. But the ether used is more specifically ether clump, a kind of liquid clay. Ether is meant to become one of earth, water, fire and wind, but in the hands of a novice it would fail to become one of the four elements and materialise. This is called an ether cluster. In a sense, the creation of an ether clump is analogous to the creation of 'nothing'. In the world of magic, "nothing" is defined as "that which is not possible, but materialises".
Since Ether Wings are made of an imaginary element that should not exist, of "nothing", the combination of the Hand of God and the Golden Plates makes it an element capable of becoming any reality. In fact, the Golden Plates naturally have the ability to confirm the existence of something that does not exist, the ether being able to associate with any element, Gabriel is able, with his manipulation of the molecules, to transform his wings into any matter with any properties, even imaginary properties. He can turn them into powerful armour as well as sea foam. However, he is limited by his understanding of chemistry and physics; the wings he creates, though made of an unreal element, must appear real in the eyes of humanity's physical laws.
Personality
Gabriel is a professional and thoughtful man, which does not mean that he is always serious, he sometimes smiles even in serious moments. He just doesn't waste his time on pointless distractions, preferring to do what he has to do properly. His goal has always been that of a magus, to discover the truth and, if possible, to reach the root. Ever since he discovered the Golden Plates, he has been obsessed with finding out the truth behind the strange power of these things that should not exist. His thirst for knowledge is so great that he will do anything to unravel the mystery of Mormonism, even if it means killing people. In this regard, he is similar to the archetypal magus. However, he has traits that set him apart from them, for Gabriel is someone who places great value on humility. To him, arrogance is humanity's greatest flaw, and only the humble can achieve great things. Realising that you don't know everything and can't do everything means that you can act reasonably and rationally.
“My goal? I want to know, I NEED to know. I live only to discover the truth of the Golden Plates. How does this thing exist? How can proof of this civilization exist even though this civilization does not exist? This desire to know the truth... to solve this mystery. It's not just curiosity, it's the whole purpose of my existence, an obsession, an insatiable thirst!”
Relationships
Touko Aozaki: “Ah, I haven't seen you for a long time. I was told you were no longer welcome at the Clock Tower. But I suppose it's all for the best, knowing you, your fields of research are far more interesting than what the Clock Tower has to offer. Seeing you again brings back memories of when I was a student in London. Ha... Really, our class was full of geniuses, compared to you I was quite forgettable.”
Marcheline “Archie” Links: “From what I heard, the Price family had a cordial relationship with them. Their research was pretty similar to ours. Besides, we tend to know each other in America. It’s not like there are that many magi. I never met a Links but they definitely have an interesting field of research. I’m sure we could get along.”
Charlotte Lovelace: “Oh no, I’m not that familiar with JPL even if I’m quite interested in them. To get in touch with them… yes, that’s something that I should definitely do for the sake of my research. One of the most interesting associations in our country. Ah, and as for Miss Lovelace… She's a great magus. An example for us all. Our body is nothing but a tool in our search for truth. Bless it or curse it, don’t be afraid… for it is the duty of magus.”
