And it's hugely underwhelming, because this is one of the great all-time clichés of fiction: villain beats heroes, underestimates heroes, heroes get an unwarranted reprieve, heroes beat villain. It's the stuff of Bond films and comics - bad ones at that - which anyone should be aspiring to rise above, even given the frankly unambitious standard of MtG writing.
And this is why I'm not really interested by Bolas or similar villains. I really despise that cliche, especially when used so transparently. To have someone who needs to continue winning or commit this error, is just... eh. I mean, prior to this I hadn't been interested in Bolas, because this is exactly the sort of thing I expected when he got more focus (although I also expected them to come up with an excuse why letting them go was just another example of how smart Bolas was).

edit: Also the Mending happened later in the storyline than I thought. Like I assumed it happened in Dominaria days before we got stuff like Ravnica and Kamigawa. I really don't know much about Magic's history.

In his extended monologue, the dragon guy pretty much says that it's necessary for planeswalking heroes to exist, although he never says why.
I'm waiting for an answer to that question before I pass judgement.

Well today we have the reveal of 3 of the legendary cats - we were spoiled on Arahbo but he's officially revealed today - in the appropriate C17 precon, plus 2 new cat friends that have really neat designs.

    Hungry Lynx is really funny.

Although I always dislike cards having baked in protection from the benefit they give their opponents.

Can anyone point me to any stories or discussions that involve a planeswalker in the Nasuverse? The idea really interests me, along with an Exalted crossover, but I've only found a few of the latter and none of the former.

Recently I've been considering shifting away from using Captain Sisay as my main commander and EDH deck. I love being able to chain out the best cmc legends in GW to make a boardstate nigh impenatrable, but I'm worrying more and more that that is repetitive and boring - for myself and my playgroup(s).

In addition, coming as no shock to aldeayeah, my best IRL friend who also plays EDH has pointed out that Green is my primary, White secondary...and Red tertiary. Blue is fourth and Black is fifth down the line, according to him and I can't disagree with his reasoning. (If others have commentary on color identity for myself or yourselves, please chime in!)

So I'm contemplating building a Naya deck. Multiplayer is what I enjoy most in EDH and I only have one person I play 1v1 against with EDH decks anyway so...the almost painfully obvious choice for my potential new commander is...Gahiji, the Honored One.

I have a friend who plays Gahiji, or in his words, "Everyone is me." It looked fun. I don't think you were considering him, but I'd disrecommend Uril; he's rather droll.

Mayael is an engine, similarly to Sisay, but more random. It may be of your liking, and maybe easier to adapt from your current deck?

    "Everyone is me", eh?

Mayael is an option I have considered, but I feel more drawn to Gahiji's politicking. That and Gahiji can go either tokens, pillowfort, beast tribal or a few other strategies.

    Enrage looks like a fun mechanic, though if I had to guess it's going to be mostly RG. I'm holding out for a stegosaur or ankylosaur GW uncommon. ;u;

Enrage+red sweepers as a deck concept sounds pretty sweet.

EDIT: Also Lyco, Sisay can now tutor for Planeswalkers.

The GW uncommon disappoints me. 5GW for a 4/6 is...bad and so far we haven't seen more than...2-3 dinosaurs that benefit from "attack with butts" and others get worse from it.

Yeah, Sisay's price is up to 50usd now. I don't know how to feel about it - I can tutor up my 2 Ajani and 1 Garruk now, but at what cost?

I expected a lot more from dinosaurs than 5 to 7 cmc low-impact creatures. Ripperino

Complaining is fine and all, but there are still 202 more unknown cards in Ixalan.

Dinos with constructed potential so far:

Ripjaw Raptor: 4/5 for 4 with no evasion but a good grindy ability. Comparable to Tireless Tracker, although probably a little worse for the sheer clunkiness/restrictive mana cost/lack of guaranteed value on ETB.
Carnage Tyrant: cheaper, nonhasty Gaea's Revenge. Bigger than blue, black, white gearhulks. Lives through all nonwhite sweepers in KLD-HOU (DIES TO STAR OF EXTINCTION LOL) - edit: forgot Bontu's Last Reckoning, oops.
