    I played blue mostly for River's Rebuke which is a pretty absurd Magic card.
    As for the roleplayers, the vampire bear with lifelink is deceptively powerful, as are all the vampire token generators.

    i really wanted to build dinos tho
    i sorted the pool and i was like *shrug*
    didn't even get any of the white flying dinos that could go into my deck

    Angrath's Marauders turns out to be a decent rare.
    Ruthless Knave was really, really good for me.
    Firecannon Blast was an all-star removal piece.
    Blight Keeper and Fire Shrine Keeper actually did some good work for me, and I got to activate their abilities at least 3-4 times the entire tourney.

    Also: Blight Keeper has the face/head of a fruit bat, which makes me super happy and I like it all the more.

    Jace has started remembering things from previous mindwipes. Setting up for a Vryn set?

    Also the reunion with Liliana is going to be inevitably ugly, and not because of Jace <3 Vraska, but because I strongly believe that this Jace isn't going to fall for Liliana the way the young, insecure Jace did.

    Delicious ending there.

    Red deck needs to topdeck a land or a burn spell to win. It topdecks... Chandra's Defeat.

    Today is ban list day!

    Rooting for Stoneforge Mystic/Bloodbraid Elf unban in Modern, but that's unlikely since Modern is better than it's ever been. Even Storm is a tier 1.5 deck and people are OK with it!

    My brew of the day:

    Tokens, with a twist

    // 60 Maindeck

    // 4 Creature
    4 Auriok Champion

    // 9 Enchantment
    4 Bitterblossom
    4 Intangible Virtue
    1 Legion's Landing

    // 6 Instant
    2 Path to Exile
    4 Fatal Push

    // 22 Land
    4 Polluted Delta
    4 Marsh Flats
    4 Flooded Strand
    1 Hallowed Fountain
    2 Plains
    1 Swamp
    2 Godless Shrine
    1 Fetid Heath
    3 Isolated Chapel

    // 4 Planeswalker
    2 Liliana of the Veil
    1 Sorin, Lord of Innistrad
    1 Sorin, Solemn Visitor

    // 15 Sorcery
    1 Inquisition of Kozilek
    4 Thoughtseize
    4 Lingering Souls
    4 Spectral Procession
    2 Collective Brutality

    // 15 Sideboard

    // 3 Creature
    SB: 1 Iona, Shield of Emeria
    SB: 1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
    SB: 1 Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite

    // 4 Enchantment
    SB: 2 Stony Silence
    SB: 2 Rest in Peace

    // 4 Instant
    SB: 2 Path to Exile
    SB: 2 Negate

    // 4 Sorcery
    SB: 4 Polymorph

    Musings:
    - BAH GAWD EMRAKUL OUTTA NOWHERE
    - Collective Brutality / Liliana go great with Lingering Souls but they can also recycle your Emrakul in post side games.
    - Auriok Champion goes great with Bitterblossom and is nigh unkillable by many decks.
    - The Polymorph package comes in the matchups where the Champion is bad.
    - The Polymorph package has a real cost - the sideboard is spread very thin. Hence the more generic answers.
    - This deck dies badly to Ensnaring Bridge.

    Testing Tishana as basically just a commander for casual U/G ramp, and I lived my beloved U/G casual dream. Fable of Wolf and Owl, Mirkfiend Liege, Master of the Wild Hunt, Progenitor Mimic on Master of the Wild Hunt. It's a horrifying, beautiful snowball of a situation, where no-one can play creatures because they always immediately die to the giant wolf-pack, and the wolf-pack only grows.

    I also drew 20 cards off Tishana when I finally bothered to cast her, but that was just a touch of win-more.

    E: Hey, the latest Cockatrice update finally lets you put cards X from the top. That was always so bloody fiddly to do by hand.

    Since there's zero chance of the Amonkhet Standard tournament ever finishing (booo), I'm bringing some closure to my involvement with the posting of my deck list:

    Spoiler:
    BANT STUFF

    I made this deck to play as many sweet overpowered Standard cards as possible.
    The final result was this monstrous pile of Energy/Vehicles/Flash/midrange goodstuff.

    Creatures (22)
    4 Thraben Inspector
    4 Servant of the Conduit
    4 Longtusk Cub
    4 Rogue Refiner
    4 Tireless Tracker
    2 Archangel Avacyn

    Noncreatures (18)
    4 Attune with Aether
    4 Heart of Kiran
    4 Stasis Snare
    4 Gideon, Ally of Zendikar
    2 Tamiyo, Field Researcher

    Land (20)
    4 Aether Hub
    4 Fortified Village
    1 Prairie Stream
    4 Botanical Sanctum
    4 Forest
    2 Plains
    1 Island

    Sideboard
    4 Selfless Spirit
    4 Fumigate
    4 Negate
    2 Bristling Hydra
    1 Cast Out

    Hyuu, I think I was the only one that played all their games, shame you beat me last round and made declaring me the winner awkward, I'll post my decklist when I get home from work.

    Pure Wolf tribal is just about not workable in 100-card singleton. Trust me, I've tried.

    But, yeah, Master of the Wild Hunt was the scourge of ... M10 draft, I think? Barring Bolts, of course, but otherwise it was a value machine full of creatures and instant-speed removal at no threat to itself. He's not quite got the speed or power level for a lot of formats, but there are circumstances (like a Progenitor Mimic copying him, and a Fable of Wolf and Owl to give him more tokens, and a Murkfiend Liege untapping him every turn, and counterspells to protect him) where he can totally bring back that old terror to people.

    The old joke used to be that the Master can set three Wolves on the first-striking, lifelinking, protection from Demons and Dragons, flying Baneslayer Angel, and the pack will not only find a way to bring that thing down, but one of them will survive their trip into the atmosphere as well.

    I thought I did too, unless Saiga was in the tournament or something.

    Hell, wasn't that the first tournament where I beat more than one person? I think I went 2:3.

    For wolves, wild hunt and Odin references, that's a card I'd really like to make work in something. I have to wonder, though - is there any reason the tap ability doesn't say fight? I know Polukranos is the same, but it seems like having multi-target fights would be similar enough.

    // Standard - Izzet Control

    // 60 Maindeck
    // 5 Creature
    1 Sphinx of the Final Word
    4 Torrential Gearhulk

    // 28 Instant
    4 Censor
    3 Disallow
    2 Essence Scatter
    4 Glimmer of Genius
    4 Harnessed Lightning
    1 Hieroglyphic Illumination
    4 Magma Spray
    2 Negate

    1 Pull from Tomorrow

    // 25 Land
    4 Aether Hub
    9 Island
    4 Mountain
    4 Spirebluff Canal
    4 Wandering Fumarole

    // 2 Sorcery
    2 Sweltering Suns

    // 15 Sideboard
    // 7 Creature
    SB: 2 Dragonmaster Outcast
    SB: 2 Kefnet the Mindful
    SB: 3 Thing in the Ice

    // 6 Instant
    SB: 1 Brutal Expulsion
    SB: 3 Dispel
    SB: 1 Essence Scatter
    SB: 1 Negate

    // 1 Planeswalker
    SB: 1 Chandra, Flamecaller

    // 1 Sorcery
    SB: 1 Sweltering Suns

    The deck sort of speaks for itself, counter all the big threats, burn all the small threats, use torrential gearhulk and glimmer to draw my deck, eventually win with gerahulks, sphinx or just repeated activations of fumaroles, with additional creature wincons in the SB.
