This topic really went the way I expected it to.

I've been active in the miHoYo leak subreddits daily for well over four years at this point and have been involved in arguments substantially more inane than this so like, as long as it's not gender wars it's no biggie for me.

Tingyun is weird because a character who has an alt at this point should have double the screen time but instead they're both weirdly half-assed? It feels like narrative really wants us to care about her relationship with the express but then they just make no attempt to write it. The reveal that we never even meet her, with the story even acknowledging the time most people assumed she'd been kidnapped just makes it even weirder. A character quest before the fake out and one singularly followed on her reunion would probably have been better

The Tingyun part felt tacked-on yes. I think this storyline was meant to be just setup for whatever they're planning in the future for 3.x and that's why they felt the need to introduce her and have her as a player in the story from the outset. This isn't meant to be like a triumphant conclusion to her arc but its beginning. By making it an interlude you make it an obligatory(-ish) part of the storyline which a character quest couldn't have accomplished. I still feel like she should've appeared in the main story and then had a CQ afterwards to flesh some stuff out a bit.

Believe it or not I actually kind of like the choice to have had our meeting with her be offscreen and have them be like "yeah we had her the whole time", I think it's a fun reveal, but I'm also not a big fan of how she acts like she's been our pal for years.

The over familiarity is why the off screening offends me. You'd think she was like Dan Heng where there was deep history that she could no longer remember due to circumstances but instead we never even meet her as her, the fake her we met we barely even spend time with her and then afterwards they're just playing up the whole buddy buddy thing, the crew weren't even the ones who saved her, they just helped transport her!!

Out of most people I've debated with, FC is one of the more chill. They know when and where to stop engaging with a debate, which is more respectable than most (including me). So I had no reason to insult them. We both have our opinions base on the extent of what we've experienced. I have no reason to fault them for not going through all of hoyo games, and they also partially understood what I was trying to say. The end.

Even with mami I wouldn't go that far insulting their intelligence despite them clearly having some bones to pick with me. Not knowing something or being unable to read my yap isn't the same as being stupid. But w/e, not the first time I annoyed people on the internet for random reasons.

Agreed 100%. It would at the very least add more playtime to the patch while building characterizations.

There are speculations that they originally intended for the Tingyun we've met on Luofu was herself, but plan changed so that Phantylia took over since the beginning. The game's early 1.x stories (especially Belobog) went through several rewrites, causing multiple inconsistencies.

Ended up deciding to get Sunday last minute, and rolled on the current banners hoping to get Gallagher to E2. I've accomplished that and also got both Fugue and Firefly through freak luck. The only downside is that I have no resources to build them and no more tickets left so they'll be benched for a while.

With Aventurine and E2 Gallagher I don't have to worry about sustain anymore and can hopefully skip most of the foreseeable future patches.

Fugue only needs Talent + Skill, Firefly only needs skill > ult > talent. Fall of Aeon is best Firefly f2p LC and Fugue can even use Fermata if you don't have better options (like Tutorial or Resolution). Both use the exact same relic/planar sets AND stats. Break chars by design have high floor off the gate in exchange for lower ceiling compare to other archetypes, super fast and easy to build.

As for sustains, I think you should go for Lingsha when she reruns. She is by far the most ridiculous character in terms of how much she can do. Aoe Heals + Aoe cleanses + has dps/support builds + works with FUA, Break, Acheron (pair with Fugue), Erudition meta (pair with Jade), summon meta (Sundae dps build). One of the best investment you can make at this point in time. I doubt Hoyo even planned for her to be this cracked.

I dumped my 4 other copies of Resolution on Pela but luckily rolled another copy that I can eventually level to put on Fugue. It looks like Clara is going to have to share Fall of Aeon with Firefly sometimes for now because I don't have any other good destruction lightcones. Once the characters are built I can make a hypercarry team with Clara+Sunday+Robin+Aventurine and Superbreak team with Fugue+ImaginaryMC+Gallagher+Firefly. I also now have Universal Market... too bad that didn't happen earlier.

You can use the 4* Ninja LC (free LC from Rappa music event) for Clara. It is designed for tanky chars like Clara, Yunli and Blade.

...not so lucky for me, couldn't but try to get Sunday's LC too. ...didn't get it. Not helped that internet was down from (supposedly) Christmas traffic. T_T Also unlucky if those leaks are true cuz DANGGIT. I'm dry from Sunday pulls...and Jade is very tempting to get before Castorice.

On the luckier side, when the planar orb bonus was up, while I didn't get a Lushaka set for Sunday as I wanted, I did get a Lushaka for Pela with ERR rope, decent EHR, and decent other stats.
Also am SO close to 60k for the new PF, at 59k. ...couldn't help but want to go Sunday-Lingsha-Robin for 2nd half, because I just find DPS Lingsha very amusing. Gonna see if having HMC instead of Hunt March will work better since there's that "no SP consumed" blessing and I was mainly using March as an SP generator (and that Shifu bonus from her A6).

I was new to the game and I thought she was real good (and fun) the moment I tried her trial version in the story. The AoE cleanses alone made me want to get her, but then everything else... Yeah, I am so happy I got lucky in getting her. So I can't help but think, yeah, she'd be good to have on an account.

Wow Star Rail really just plagiarized Gilgamesh with 0 changes. I don't recall them ever copying a design that blatantly before. I think the only difference is in the facial expressions.

David Jiang talked to Nasu a lot to set up the collab before this, so like, I'm going to assume he asked him "hey can we have a character that's literally just gilgamesh" and Nasu was cool with it because otherwise this is hilariously shameless

It's shameless even if he knew, there was 0 effort to make it not look like a blatant Gil copy, it's just farming money based on familiarity with something pre-existing that isn't yours, regardless if the creator gave the OK. Like at least Svarog and Clara are a rip off that don't use the exact same design with no effort to make it a smidge different.

That's a bit much. Dude looks a bit like Gil, it's not going to influence the real plagiarism accusations at all.
At most, this will fuel memes between people familiar with both things.

Aside from minor differences like the actual structure of his armor and the tattoo patterns, it's basically the same design. The main differences is that he doesn't have red fabric on the front of his like... crotch armor, his arms are more armored, and his hairstyle is different (and a different color). But also I don't think that this is the biggest sin because it's not actual literal plagiarism in the same way the promotional videos were, it's just really terrible timing.

Compare his armor with Proto Gil rather than regular Gil and the plagiarism allegations become even worse
