I know its base P3 remake based on previous marketing, although i am not exactly up to date. If it actually has a new story content of any significance then they should've advertised better, i guess. 70 bucks is still brand-new AAA tier (and this game is not AAA nor it is brand-new), so a remake would need to be mindblowingly good to justify its pricetag.

The 70$ price tag in itself is also something I have an issue with, but it's with the industry at large.
But I do think the production of this warrants a "full price" label. P3R is not comparable with P3F, P3P, P4G or P5R. The process of its construction is completely different. They're not going into the base P3 project file and changing it, they're building a new P3R project file from scratch. On a technical level, that really isn't any different from making a completely new title.
Will it be any good? Time will tell.

As discussed earlier, this really jsn't true. Having an existing game to work off of means a lot more than juat having a story outline and character designs ready to go. It means the entire process of iterating on gameplay loops, rewards, mechanics, and all sorts of design questions that pop up and need to be addressed in order to make a game, are already done for them. Even adding the new content is a simple process of expanding on the original material. The pipeline of creating a remake is nowhere near as long as a completely new project, which is evidenced by the fact that they're pumping this out in such a short timespan between original releases.

Whether you think this remake is worth the price or not depends entirely on your own personal feelings on the matter. I can imagine people that are already fans of Persona 3 are gonna have no problem paying for it, because your enjoyment of something can't be quantified by its monetary value.

I spoke with someone today who prefers Persona 4 and they said they'd have no problem paying $70 for it versus this Persona 3 Remake.

If you don't think the price is worth the price, just don't get it and wait for a price drop, it's that simple.

I mean there's still the matter of making 3D models and animation in a never-before used engine, making new 2D animations and assets, re-dubbing a quite lengthy game and all that, which while it's not a full game's worth of efforts, is still enough to take 4/5 years of developpment apparently

Like yeah, we're all going "grrr" because there's not all the added content from FES and P3P, but good luck trying to convince someone who has only played P5 to play P3P without at least a visual update of the level of Reload

That's pretty much exactly who they're aiming at, I have to assume.

What a lot of people seem to forget when talking about P3P is all things they had to cut from the base game in order to make it work.

I'm not justifying them not adding more content, but it's a detail that almost always gets ignored and people pretend like P3P is an upgrade to vanilla P3 when no, it's more like a side grade if anything.

I'd like to think they won't pull the same shit they did with P3F/P3P, P4G and P5R, but if they want to add a rework of The Answer, that's probably how they'll do it.

Y'know, playing through SMT V and I am bitterly disappointed with how they handled the Fiends. Putting aside the fact that all but Alice are locked behind paid DLC, I hate the way this game way overdid the distortion effect on their voices. I loved how they sounded in Nocturne Remastered but you couldn't tell it was the same actors because the distortion is garbling their dialogue. It's especially egregious for the Four Horsemen as now they all sound identical and thus lose a lot of their individual charm.
