It also depends on who's saying it. Futaba or Ryuji, I can see it. Haru or Makoto, that feels like a stretch.

There's a bit of depth to the battle system, you actually need to put some thought in the attacks you do, spamming Square and Triangle isn't enough. I mean, it ain't hard, but it isn't mindless.
I thought I'd have a hard time adapting to this combat and control scheme but it's becoming quite easy to link stuff together.
The only things I would ask for would be a more obvious effect if your attacks are working or not (especially in bosses since they don't get knocked back and have a shield meter that you need to empty before you can deal damage), and a tactics menu so I can dictate a character's general battle behavior when I'm not controlling them.
Long time fans will be happy to hear that if the MC dies in battle, you can still keep going. You only lose a battle if all 4 party members kick the bucket. When the battle ends, the downed teammates get back up with 1 HP.

i thought this was going to be a cash grab but so far I am having a blast. The game play is fun, all the characters have unique and varied styles and the whole game really captures the same old magic. Just finished the first jail and all I a say is this game has the feel of one that all of the developers were having the time of their lives making
How musou is the game? I've seen a lot of people talking about how there are less enemies and stuff like that, but is the tactics part completely taken out? Do you have to capture and manage keeps?
No
The levels are more like the Palaces in Persona 5 vanilla, with just a more musou-ish battle style
That's kinda disappointing, I've come to appreciate musous after Hyrule Warriors and Extella Link.

Yeah, I just played a few hours of the first dungeon, but it feels like P5 with more spacious hallways. I can't wait to get that perk that autoheals everyone after every fight.

Get the perks that buff healing items and Joker's cooking first. Trust me on this, they are so powerful.
Yyyyeah I am still new to the mechanics but given how obvious it has become that item spam is key to win, when I saw the joker cooking perk pop up I immediately dumped about three full levels into it
I really like some of the remixes of the original P5 tracks. Also, there's P2 DLC that'll make the battle theme from P2: Innocent Sin come on sometimes, which is awesome. Though somehow, it's not as good as the rendition from the PSP version.

Some of these big enemies are really wrecking me. Like the angels. It doesn't help that I by the time I've gotten to them I have no SP left to break their defense.

If you get a chance invest in Futaba’s SP up after fight ability. Home girl really pulls her weight with it. The first level is only 2SP per fight at level 1, but it also effects your back like so by the time your front row is running dry your B team is at least at 50% or so. Makes it a whole lot easier to run through a mission without going dry right before a boss fight, as happened to me a LOT in the first jail
Yup that's been noticeable to me as well. In the first Jail I was constantly going back outside to replenish the party's SP, it isn't happening in the second Jail.
