Skill
Class Skills
Magic Resistance: B
A grand instrument used for many great deeds. One would think that would warrant a higher rank in this skill, but having diverged from being a simple measuring tool of the gods has caused this skill to manifest at merely B rank.
“It’d be boring if all magic just bounced off me, so sticking to this rank suits me. I can go even lower if I want a challenge of course!”
Personal Skills
Independent Manifestation: C+
Independent Manifestation is a special Skill that permits unsupported manifestation into reality, without necessity of energy cost or of summoning by a Master; effectively, the Skill serves as an enhanced version of Independent Action. This skill signifies a confirmed existence. Those with this skill have resistance to instant death and time-control attacks. While normally a class skill of the Beast Class, Lancer has acquired this skill via her nature as a texture lynchpin and through her connection with several divinities.
Lancer excels at serving as a conceptual anchor for magical purposes, for which they receive a plus correction, however this does not reflect increased magical energy generation and actions such repeated successive NP usage require external support to cover the costs.
“Sure I can go it alone, but having a friend to travel with is so much better, don’t you think? At least I don't have to worry about anyone cheating with any stupid gimmicks like time travel anymore. “
Master of Form: B+
An enhanced variant of the shapeshift skill that reflects an absoluteness of control over one’s body.
Any influence that may forcibly alter Lancer’s shape without her permission can be rejected automatically. Standing firm against the sands of time, the consumption of calories or external transformation magic of insufficient strength, all will be denied if she wills it.
With such control over her form, Lancer has incredibly formidable transformation abilities. Capable of taking the form of myriad creatures and objects, from giant demons, fierce beasts, a barber's razor, and even a drill. Their transformation ability is primarily limited by the combined imaginations of her and her partner. New traits and abilities may be acquired depending on the form taken but those unrelated to the physical form are more difficult to reproduce. Lancer has excellent aptitudes for both size alteration and transformation into tools, where it was said they could grow or shrink without limit.
“Partner mastered the 72 Earthly transformations and that crazy monkey really put that power to use, I have a similar trick. He might have preferred to copy different creatures but I feel more at home copying tools and weapons. It just feels more right, you know? Well, it doesn’t matter what you want me to turn into, I’ll be the best amongst the best regardless!”
Divine Protection from the Furthest Ends (Abyss): EX
Their nature is that of a shadow of a tower that pins down the texture of mankind. This skill is similar but distinct from the one possessed by the tower of light on the horizon. They were said to have measured to the lowest watery depths and fixed the floor of the abyssal waters. The true extent of this skill’s blessings remains a mystery that Lancer keeps to herself but when she invokes this skill, it increases her magical energy parameter and sharply increases her endurance parameter.
“Standing in the ocean floor is pretty hard you know! You gotta be really durable to handle it, so the durability boost is appreciated at least. The mana control buff is a nice side bonus too! What did I see there? It’s a secret ! ~ ☆”
Duplication (Shadow): B
A capacity to create more of themselves. This skill derives from their nature as a shadow of a greater pillar, the lynchpin that bound the ocean floor. Lancer in turn can create their own shadows, replicas of themselves that retain most of their abilities albeit at a lower rank and with less overall durability. The greater magical energy and effort expended allow higher quality replicas and more replicas to be generated. If supplied by an average magus they may generate up to four shadows to assist themselves, however, this number can change depending on the amount of magical energy available, and the contractor's strength.
“Don’t need to worry about finding me a weapon. Sure I can shapeshift myself, but having a shadow to wield is really handy. I can even lend you a shadow if you’re feeling up to a spar!”
Vessel of Authority: B-
A divine construct, a tool of the gods, and the only weapon that the Great Sage Equal to Heaven found worthy to stay by their side. Already a terminal for the Authority and powers of the Pillar that Binds the Abyssal Waters, it was in the hands of the gods that it was discovered Lancer could serve as a terminal for their own abilities as well. As such Lancer’s saint graph has been strengthened so that it can bear the burden of a God’s full might, channeled through themselves as the medium. One can see it as being akin to both spiritual invocation and sympathetic magecraft, in that Lancer establishes a link between herself and her partner to both imitate and harness their partner’s abilities. The synergy of Lancer’s innate powers, her imitation and the powers channeled through her allow both to reach greater heights together.
While it is innately geared towards divinity, this skill may form connections that allow limited imitation of abilities from other spiritual entities, such as fellow servants, phantasmal species or magi she encounters, with the copied abilities suffering at two rank downs compared to the original without additional support from the linked partner.
“You really think you’re worthy of establishing such a link? You must have something really special if you want me to try it! Wait you want to me to establish it with another servant? How many have you summoned, you cheater!?”
Noble Phantasm
Name: Ruyi Jingu Bang
Title: The Stamper of Divine Will
Rank: B-
Type: Anti-Unit
Description: A fragment of the authority that defines their purpose. To give form to what is vague. A collapse of potential into a certainty. To grant it a form is to deny it all others. To grant it limits and definition. But raw primordial chaos is a rare phenomenon to encounter in the modern day. So instead Lancer uses it to restrict and bind her targets. Freezing the air by making its position definite, to seal or weaken abilities. This Noble Phantasm manifests as a binding touch that allows her to fix or seal a target that she strikes while it is invoked.
This ability is unstable unless linked with a sufficiently powerful divinity via the “Vessel of Authority” skill so sufficient luck or magical energy parameters will reduce the levels of impairment caused by successful strikes from this Noble Phantasm.
“I know this is my main function, but isn’t it kind of lame? Who wants to keep on weakening their opponents to win their fights?”
Name: Ruyi Jingu Bang
Title: Go Further Beyond, Celestial Record Maker
Rank: EX
Type: Conceptual
Description: She carries the capacity to define and limit. But her treasured Partner, Sun Wukong, inspired a different path. To go beyond and grasp for ever distant dreams, enjoying the journey along the way.
And thus, in memory of her journeys, she had learned to reverse her function, and to remove limitations, remove restrictions, and become free and unchained.
Rather than the granting of new abilities, it is the ability to control the magnitude of the abilities that are already present, modulating the rank and effectiveness of those already possessed by the target. Records can be broken, obstacles can be overcome, and barriers pierced.
It does not grant abilities ex nihilo, as a price must still be paid. Magical energy or damage to one’s own saint graph will be paid in compensation, still, if one has enough to pay the cost, the line between possibility and impossibility is effectively erased.
A side effect of this NP is that effects akin to Pioneer of the Stars EX and Luck EX are granted to Lancer when it is active.
"Now this is what I'm talking about. Do the Impossible, See the Invisible, Touch the Untouchable, Break the Unbreakable. Go all out. Plus Ultra!"
Lore
History:
A Pillar of Creation formed by the gods, encompassing and embodying the distant abyss of the deepest waters as its basis. It was engraved with a functionality, an authority to “give form to what is vague”, a tool to establish order in the chaos of the ancient world. Like many a divine construct, it was in essence alive, for its creation was akin to making a new divinity, but it merely fulfilled it’s purpose and observed silently.
While the tower itself remained at the edge of creation, hidden under the ocean waves, the gods had often called upon terminals to utilize a portion of the Pillar’s strength. Sometime these Shadows were dismissed rapidly, but other times they were allowed to persist, and through that persistence they changed hands or passed on deliberately.
Yu the Great had used a Shadow to measure the depths during a Great Flood.
Bhuddhist Saint Mulian was thought to have used one to open the underworld gates.
The immortal Xu Xun used one to cleanse the land of raging flood dragons.
These records of use reached the true Pillar, akin to how a Heroic Spirit receives records of their summonings. These records accumulated and caused little change, but they would provide a foundation to build upon by the Pillar’s next user.
Sun Wukong, the Ninefold Immortal, The Monkey King, The Great Sage Equal to Heaven. But before they had fully earned all those titles, at the beginning of his legend, he sought out a weapon. And in the Vault of the Dragon King of Eastern Sea, in the Underwater Kingdom of Ao Guong, he searched through his treasury, and was only satisfied with one weapon after trying countless others. Lancer, Ruyi Jingu Bang, was the only one that met his standards. A shadow of the pillar that was granted to the Dragon King for safekeeping, and hidden away in disuse for far too long. The pillar resonated with Sun Wukong, for the nascent divinity within him was recognized, and the desire to form a link appeared, much to the surprise of the pillar itself.
The adventures they had together were numerous, and the effects on Lancer were profound. They were made to bombard an army with thousands of copies of themselves, they had extended far beyond what they were asked of prior. They had been made to take the form of living creatures, of great stature and might. They had become many tools on several occasions, from drills to barber razors, and so much more. The records within her contain many grand and often contradictory tales. But through these records, she was made into something greater than just an observant tool. It turned these stored observations into something greater, a being with a will, and who could cry, laugh, get angry and rejoice at the experiences they went through.
But as the age of the gods ended, and even her treasured partner retreated away from the world of man, her role as a lynchpin made it so part of her would always remain behind. Boredom game, sadness, regret, and a myriad of emotions crept in, which led to a choice. Much like an elemental or certain divinities, she decided to engrave a shadow onto the Throne of Heroes, separate from the instances of her attached to the Monkey King. She allowed herself to manifest as a Servant, for the search for more and even greater adventure.
Will you provide her with an entertaining Journey?
Wish for the Holy Grail: The grail cannot directly grant her wish, for she wishes to go on another adventure, to have fierce battles, and to have more journeys that she would never forget. To that effect she answers the call of the grail and other summonings to facilitate such experiences.

Re: Kissinger - Aside from him being too recent, he's sorta...one-note? He was a greedy man who maximized the suffering of innocents, I'm sure you could name a dozen historical figures who're both the same and more interesting to be made into Servants. Sure, the breadth and depth of his actions is great, but as with most sheets for Hitler, it's just nothing suitable for polite company.
Fair points, back to Hel and Mary Shelley it is.
Speaking of things we don't need to see, I am back and a hundred per cent more blasphemous. I would have posted this yesterday but the death of the Pope made it feel a little in poor taste so I held off for as long as I could contain it.

People may or may not have noticed, but I also had some hidden black text to indicate that this was merely phase 2 in my attempts to practice formatting (the first being Ferrers of course). The real mind-bender isn't even here yet, but it is slowing cooking on the stove. My true labour of love~

Is the final collapse the reveal that Judas is actually Christ, because in the end the Judas we know is the one we hate and find as the most deplorable being in existence, therefor making him the ultimate scapegoat, ergo the Child of God who must be sacrificed for the salvation of the people?
Is this Yaldabaoth??
No? Did you read the entire sheet? There's only one Collapse tag. It's just one Servant hiding within another.
The future project I was teasing in my last post is completely unrelated to this sheet, other than it will likely involve collapsing tags unless I think of an alternate way to do the reveal.

Judas?: The second faceclaim isn't showing up for me (maybe error on my end).
Anyways, I like the serpent imagery and all, but honestly I kinda find the Judas part more interesting than the Satan part? Like, there are only so many ways to portray the Devil, and you've hit all of them (this is not a criticism). Whereas the Judas part is just a miserable man who robotically acts out the role of the Apostles and has forgotten his wish - I just think that has more narrative potential. idk

Huh, it seems to work for me now. Sorry to worry you.
Up front warning that there will be artistic depictions of boobage, as many famous pieces of art also portray. We here at Morg LLC do not condone the usage of boobs, but we do appreciate them. Also touching of a topic that may make others uncomfortable. Just a smidge.
You have been forewarned.
"Who am I?" you may ask me, but my name is but a fraction of what any of us are.
Who am I?
I am devout.

“This world is so boring and pointless.”
Those words are the mantra that Dinadan repeated throughout most of early years. A young knight born to the celebrated Sir Bruenor the Black and raised in Cornwall, he was trained in the arts of swordsmanship and excelled, despite being picked upon by the other household knights for his smaller build and rather effeminate appearance. Women flocked to him for his looks and wits and he rejected them all out of principle, though even he couldn’t say why. He claims that he first grew to despise the fairer sex when some maiden, entirely unprompted by him, showed him her breasts. Maiden, his arse. But back to more important matters.
Of course, in those days, there was only one place for a young knight to go. Camelot. While of course they had done the work of God protecting England from the Saxons and he had done his part, he found the modern generation of Knights rather boorish. After seeing years of bloody war, burning down villages for the cause, fighting for your life on a grimy battlefield with some unwashed bastard twice your size, you choose to act like that? Obsessed with chivalry and honor and doing the right thing for no pay, it was all foolish. And having no meaningful occupation, he said as much. Thus Dinadan began to be known as a cowardly and depressing sort, one who would do his duty if pressed and would defend any insults to his honor, but would complain about it the entire time. An outcast and pariah upon Camelot, entirely self-made. A mediocre knight who hates all knights including himself most of all. Maybe good for a laugh, if you weren’t the target of one of his rants, but that’s it. And besides, we already have a fool.
There in his isolation, he came upon Sir Tristan, who wielded the bow Failnaught and who was the most skilled knight in swordsmanship. A gloomy overly romantic sort. But, compared to the other Knights of the Round: hyperactive puppy… literal fool… hotheated lout… not entirely certain he can count to ten, he seemed like the best of companions. Dinadan decided that he might as well join Tristan. It was a marriage of convenience, nothing more. In fact, Dinadan’s mocking tongue and general air of condescension meant he was so little loved among the Knights of the Round that there were very few that would have taken him anyway.
“And that was everything, until later.”
Once the two knights were in the court of Espinogres, a rival king to Arthur, though staunchly loyal to his liege. Espinogres had a daughter, one who was known as a kind and beautiful maiden. He proposed that one of the knights marry her, thus ensuring that she had a noble and honorable spouse. Tristan obviously couldn’t take her, so the burden fell to Dinadan, who rejected her. At length. He spoke for almost an hour on every single flaw in Espinogres’ beloved little girl, making light of her cooking skills, piety, and appearance, thus giving a conclusive and thorough denial of any marriage between him or her sometime before the Rapture and embarrassing Espinogres greatly. Though at first he wanted to call Dinadan out on his words, Tristan proposed an alternative way to gain satisfaction.
Later that night, dressed in one of the wench’s dresses and styling his hair like a maiden, Tristan crept into Dinadan’s tent, waking him up. Although his first response was to believe it an attack of some kind and his second was to berate her for disturbing his sleep, he stopped long enough to get a look at her. It was as if… something had changed about the girl. She was radiant, shining, beautiful, with flowing red tresses as deep and rich as blood, when once he had compared her auburn to uncooked chicken. She beckoned him with a coquettish wave. Though he had never felt any manner of attraction to other women before, he moved to kiss Tristan, apologizing all the while for his harsh words the previous day. He only stopped after one kiss, when he realized that Tristan was doubled over, laughing so hard that his face turned red, and he saw what a fool he had been.
“That laugh… it was just as precious as the sun to me. No… it was more precious by far. The sun is a common harlot, sharing her beauty to every idler and peasant lucky enough to be outside at sunrise. Tristan hoarded his joy, only sharing it with his closest friends. There was nothing I ever wanted more in the world than to see him happy once again.”
For the first time in his life, Sir Dinadan had actually found something that he cared about. Something he wanted to strive for. Something interesting. And so they had many adventures together, the two most depressing figures in the Round. Tristan would fight the majority of the perilous foes that they encountered and reap the credit and praise. Dinadan would run support in fights against multiple enemies at once while making light of the situation. Due to him actually possessing something that could, in a dim light and while squinting, be seen as social skills, he was also the one who spoke to townsfolk and arranged for the purchase of supplies. Along the way, he did everything he could to see the Knight of Sorrow smile one more time and was rewarded for his efforts, though the time that he succeeded by losing a foolhardy joust against Lancelot and being forced to wear a skimpy dress was not entirely intentional. It was happy, for a time.
“Nothing good ever lasts forever. You should know that.”
He was also there for the majority of his doomed courtship with Iseult, though his opinions on it were rather divided. You fool, can’t you see she’s wrong for you, do you know who her family is, the wench is flatter than a board, you’re only doing this because of an aphrodisiac, these and a thousand other complaints came to the lips of the Knight of Common Sense, but they never took flight, dying on his tongue the second he saw the two together. To Iseult, he was nothing but courteous. Once he even brusquely gave Tristan a bouquet of freshly picked roses and told him to pass them on to his wife.
“And I was there when he died. When the poison drove him senseless. When he stared at the shore, praying for a white sail. I was the one who buried his body. None of the other Knights came, still hating him for that one curse that slipped out of his lips. A callous remark and nothing more, but for that the best man of them all died a miserable unlamented death, gaze upon the fruits of chivalry and romance, my dear. And then, what do I learn but that Mark remains in power, cackling on the while. No more.”
Dinadan, having lost his primary reason for life, resolved to give it up for one last quest. To see justice for his dearest friend. For once in his life, the Knight of Common Sense rode with true conviction, to try to get King Mark, the rat who had been responsible for the end of his dearest friend, off the throne. He refused to allow any obstacles to stop him on this quest most perilous, not rain nor wolves, nor even the wicked knight Brehu the Merciless, who he cut down without a second thought, though he was wounded in the battle.
He rode all the way to Cornwall before walking up the steps to the King’s castle. There he was set upon by a grim figure in grey armor, one who was known as the Secretary of the Round, most loyal and peerless knight. Though his expression was as unreadable as ever, the swordsman reeked of malice and killing intent. Dinadan posed the following question to him, not desiring any time to be wasted.
“Why do you block my path, Agravain?”
The Knight of Iron had never been one to mince his words.
“For the crimes of Lamorak.”
The Knight of Common Sense gave an equally curt reply.
“Am I my brother’s keeper? If you’ve a quarrel with Lamorak, go to the cemetery and take it up with him.”
Agravain was unmoved by his cutting words, instead approaching him. Dinadan responded in kind as the two maneuvered into a better position for the slaughter. A pointless battle for the crimes of some Knight who Dinadan had had the misfortune to ride with once and nothing more. This would be an obstacle that he planned to cut down. Agravain was skilled, yes, but slow, and Dinadan had been the sparring partner of the greatest Knight of the Round for years. What was more, for once, he had conviction behind him.
“So it comes to this, eh?”
It was to be a duel to the death, one motivated by stupidity and stubbornness, yet one that had value nevertheless. Dinadan refused to allow anything to block him from reaching Arthur. Agravain refused to allow him to pass. They unsheathed their blades. Dinadan was more skilled with a blade, while Agravain had far more raw power along with superior armor. Dinadan tensed up, preparing to strike at Agravain’s left side when he paused, coughing up blood as a sword sprouted from his chest. Agravain hadn’t wanted to fight him. He had been distracting him for Mordred, the Knight of Treachery, to take bloody vengeance upon him from behind. Mordred had struck true and Dinadan collapsed to his knees. Mordred left him with a parting curse, motioning for Agravain to follow her.
“That’s for you, you smirking bastard.”
And then Sir Dinadan died, speared through by Clarent in a war he had never wanted to fight in, for a band of knights he had never wanted to be a part of, for revenge against a one-time companion of his who he had had no deep respect or lasting relationship with. It was an entirely pointless death in an entirely pointless event. Neither Agravain nor Mordred derived any honor from the kill and his presence at Camlann wouldn’t have made any difference. In that moment, that entirely mediocre death, he thought to himself one last thought. A fitting epitaph for his life.
“...I always knew that chivalry was the business of fools.”
Class Skills
Riding B
Riding is the Class Skill of Rider and Saber class Servants, denoting the ability to ride mounts and vehicles. It is said that draconic mounts are an exception, requiring a different ability other than Riding.
Most vehicles and animals can be handled with above average skill, even vehicles that did not exist in the time period one was alive in, for they are no exception. However, they cannot ride the likes of Phantasmal Species such as Monstrous Beasts. Though Dinadan claims to be a rather indifferent rider, he still has the talent required to be a Knight recognized by King Arthur.
Magic Resistance B+
The Class Skill of Saber Servants, designating the ability to repel magecraft. It does not simply grant resistance to magical energies, but grants a defense against the spell itself. At the skill’s rank, it cancels all spells with a chant below three verses. Even if targeted by greater magecraft and Greater Rituals, it is difficult for Dinadan to be affected.
The + modifier comes into play if the one attempting to cast a spell on him is a woman, as Dinadan is so naturally paranoid of such an eventuality, that he’s gained resistance to the charms of ladies as well as being much more prepared to deal with them.
Personal Skills
Mind’s Eye (True) A
An experienced Knight, though one often not celebrated for his skill. Bereft of the inhumanly strong builds of warriors like Lancelot and Gawain, he instead trained his swordsmanship and gained a discerning eye that allows him to predict his enemies’ techniques and their weaknesses.
It’s the accumulation of both his experience in battle and hundreds of sparring matches against Tristan that grant him a discerning instinct for battle that lets him respond quickly and decisively against all opponents. Plans of battle can be drawn up nigh-instantaneously. After all, the main reason he didn’t fight isn’t because he was unable, it was because he didn’t see the purpose of it and besides Tristan would finish it more efficiently than him.
Disengage A
Disengage is defined as the ability to withdraw from the battlefield in the midst of combat or reset the battle conditions. Another way of thinking of it is that it’s the ability to wait for the perfect conditions to strike by forcefully bringing the field of combat back to “zero”.
Dinadan was commonly known as the most cowardly of the Round, save perhaps for the fool Dagonet. Before every battle, before every fight, he would whine about the pointlessness of the job before them and try to seek a more civilized resolution. He almost never jousted, and the one time he did, he was humiliated by Lancelot and forced to wear a dress. Yet, Dinadan is still very much the son of the Good Knight Without Fear. In fact, there are no legends of him actually running away from a battle once he’s been committed. He strongly dislikes using this skill as “once you’ve committed to the bloody business, no point in running away.” Instead, he tends to use it in a much more limited capacity to catch an enemy off guard by removing himself from an entanglement before pressing the advantage.
At this high a rank it has the bonus effect of returning battle conditions to what they were at the beginning of the match (1st turn) and restores the condition of this Skill to the initial value. At the same time, it forcibly releases some of the bad status ailments inflicted on the user of this Skill.
Knight of Common Sense C
A unique skill of Dinadan’s, attained through his reputation as a Knight who despised chivalry. In truth, it’s not hatred of the concept, but an unbearable over-intellectualization and lack of verbal filter that led to Dinadan gaining this reputation, though he’d call it nothing but realism. It’s not even his fault. It’s just that his temperament is entirely unsuitable to call combat anything honorable and he feels obligated to remove all of the romanticism from it.
Essentially, through cynicism and nothing else, he’s become something of an “Artificial Mystery Slayer”, a depressing reminder of the real risk of combat. Want to die of an infected shard of wood in the eye from jousting? Lay for days dying and smelling your own shit after being stabbed in the bowel. Even a single unlucky moment can spell the end of one of the greatest Knights of all. It’s all butchery and luck. He’d prefer to live rather than wagering his life on a gamble, thank you very much.
This skill allows him to manifest that phenomenon for a short period of time, stripping away the honor and Legends of his foes through a few short words, weakening them greatly. It’s rather similar to Don Quixote’s Closing the Curtain of Reality, with a particular advantage against chivalrous Knights. Their storied feats mean nothing in a realistic battlefield. Dinadan has a strong distaste for this skill as it embodies his reputation as a good-for-nothing Knight only skilled at tearing down the feats of his betters and more loved.
Noble Phantasm
The Changeling EdgeNewid YmylEternally Shifting Blade of the Fae
Rank: B
Type: Anti-Unit
The blade of Sir Dinadan, imbued with magical properties by one of the Fae, as its name suggests. The sword is of a high quality and cutting power, never seeming to fail to cut down a foe. The type of blade that any man would boast about. However, the origins of the blade are somewhat shrouded in mystery, as it bears a device suggesting courtly favor on its hilt. Clearly, Dinadan, the knight who was vocal in his rejection of courtly romance as the business of fools, had some manner of paramour who loved him enough to arm him in battle. Yet, whenever the question was posed to him, he blushed and refused to speak on the matter further. How curious.
In truth, the blade was given to Tristan by a love-struck Fae who had caught a glimpse of the red tresses of the Knight of Tragedy. She worked upon it for seven days and seven nights before presenting it to the Knight of Sorrow. Tristan had no need for it and pawned it off on Dinadan. This is the story of how he came by the Newid Ymyl.
However, the deceptive nature of the blade fits the cowardly and cautious Dinadan rather well. Its name explains its properties well. The Changeling Edge. In other words, the blade that exists between the boundaries of Faerie and Man. That which pierces through liminality. The faerie who gave it to Tristan likely wanted it to have this “split nature” so that they would always be connected, even when humanity and the fae lost touch with one another. The edge of the sword exists half in the current World and half on its Reverse Side, granting it unparalleled cutting power as it can simply “avoid” barriers that don’t exist on both Textures at once. A terrifying blade, even if wielded by a pessimist.
What’s more, upon releasing the True Name of Nemid Ymyl, Dinadan is also capable of sending the sword fully into the Reverse Side and then calling it back to his hands a nano-instant later, essentially shifting its location nigh-instantaneously. By doing this repeatedly, he gains himself a shifting edge that appears to be more made of mist than anything solid, impossible to track or adequately defend against. A sword that never misses its target, showing the foe in a barrage of deep slashes. He finds using this trick embarrassing, though, as it’s not even his sword.
Dialogue Sections
Summoned: “Sir Dinadan. Saber Class. You were trying to summon Tristan, weren’t you? Well, I won’t hold you not wanting me against you. I’d do the same. After all, as a knight, I lack many virtues including bravery, chivalry, honor, skill at swordsmanship, or basic social graces. In fact, I am entirely unsuited to the role of your protector in any way whatsoever. If you are a man of sense, you will terminate our contract immediately. If you are not, then tough luck. We’re stuck with each other.”
Level Up: “Why are you spending your time and effort making me stronger? Don’t you have better and more grateful Servants to lavish your gifts on?”
1st Ascension: “Well, we’ve gotten to the point where my outfit changes. Did you think it’d be like one of the other harlots in the Throne and I’d end up stripping? No. Sorry to disappoint you. You’re never getting my body.”
2nd Ascension: “How long has it been since the last time this happened? So soon? Well, at least you don’t spend that much time on working for pointless tasks with small payoffs. Call it a compliment.”
3rd Ascension: “Congratulations Master, with all of your time and diligence you have managed to metamorphosize this third-rate Saber into a second-rate. Oh… in your heart, I’m first-rate? Flattery will get you nowhere, especially when it’s so clearly untrue. No, I’m not smiling. You’re delusional. Check the medics for pinkeye.”
4th Ascension: “Well… we’ve been together for a long time, haven’t we, Master? Not as long as I was with Tristan, but I’ve at least learned to tolerate you. Don’t get me wrong, you’re still a boorish, overly hotheaded fool, to say nothing of your fashion sense, but I can at least say that I am somewhat satisfied that you’ve allowed me to be your Knight at peak performance.”
Relationships
Mordred: “You?! You actually dare to show your face and allow yourself to be summoned again, as if you’re some kind of hero? I mean, I know that I don’t deserve to be summoned, but the thought of you breathing the same air as someone like Tristan is too much to be borne!”
(For the first time since his summoning, the Knight of Common Sense actually seems taken aback and angry. He unsheathes his blade and points it at the Knight of Treachery.)
“Put down that sword and take off that armor. You have no right to adorn yourself in the manner of a King or Knight, after what you did. You aren’t worthy of any title other than whore.”
Tristan: “...Tristan. I’m glad to see you’ve been summoned again. I wouldn’t dare be presumptuous enough to set upon a great quest without you.”
King Arthur: “I respect them as my liege and a knight without any peer, but I have to agree. This is not a King that understands the hearts of men.”
Don Quixote: “And here we come to Exhibit A on how an obsession with honor and lurid stories of heroics can cause the brain to rot and the senses to unravel. It’s honestly sad the way these people get carried away, picking up a sword and riding a mule and they start thinking that they’re Lancelot-come-again.”
Roland: “...Exhibit B.”
Morgan: “There is no purpose in our conversing. I am not an intelligent man and you are a talented weaver of lies and manipulation. I have no knowledge of magecraft and you are the greatest sorceress of our era. To speak with you would be to only invite tragedy. So… what to do? Gaheris had the truth of it. I should take your head.”
Hans Christian Anderson: “My master likes your works and forced me to read them. Although you get a bad reputation as a misanthrope and a cynic, I’d say that’s because people don’t understand the truth of the world. Every fairy tale ends in tragedy.”
The Lion King: “I choose not to serve you, O distorted reflection of my liege. Before I agreed with Tristan’s curse that you did not understand the hearts of men, but now I see the truth. You simply do not have a heart at all. Lacking any frame of reference, it’s no wonder that your comprehension is insufficient. Strike me down, if you please. At least I die a man.”
About the Holy Grail: “If I could get the Holy Grail… which would imply that I’d be a knight on the level of Percival and Galahad, in other words, never… I’d use my wish to give Tristan the happiness he deserved. Surprised? Didn’t you know that ‘a Noble Knight never thinks of themselves and always wishes to help the unfortunate’? Or something to that effect.”
During an Event: “...are we really sure that this is the type of thing we want to get involved in, Master? Oh, of course, you’re the type of headstrong idiot who can’t see a quest without immediately jumping headfirst into it, right. Well then, as a mediocre Saber, I can’t expect to have any say in how you arrange our affairs. Guess I’ll hop right to it.”
Birthday: “...You took the time out of your day to buy me a birthday cake? To be honest, Master, you’ve wasted both your money and your time. For one thing, a birthday when you get to my age is rather depressing as it only serves to remind you of all of the years that you’ve wasted. In addition, I dislike sweet foods immensely. But… you aren’t to be blamed for not knowing that, so sit down. Have a slice with me.”
