Wait was Gogh saying Wilhelm instead of like, Meeremu? Or is she just asking you to watch?
    The Summer Passionlip cycle

    just-world hypothesis
Nasu is totally hinting at her coming! Promo art! Voicelines! NPC swimsuit! He wouldn't mention her in the interview if he didn't succeed this year!

    just-world fallacy
Actually, that doesn't mean anything. Plus what you get in the end might not be what you wanted.

    belief in a just world
Well, whatever, fine, I'll wait for next year. Or the next. Or the next. On and on.

    Chapter 1: Forced Entry

The Singularity’s interior is pure darkness. Gogh crafts a torch out of coal and branches. She explains her Imaginary Numbers Artistry skill lets her induce physical phenomena by combining objects and catalysts. This version is a lot more limited than the version she had as a Foreigner, but it’s faster, more reliable, and lets her work with bigger amounts of matter.

Gogh is immersed in writing down her pun ideas and almost forgets to test communications with Chaldea. It’s still too dark for them to report anything, so Gogh crafts a lantern out of the torch and iron. This illuminates the whole Singularity, letting them report to da Vinci that they are in an European mansion. The architecture is painfully disorderly and unaesthetic. Gogh wants to insult da Vinci for taking her to a place like this, but she takes too long to come up with the ideal pun for it and starts questioning the point of laughter.

Eventually, Gogh meshes multiple puns into a theme song, which ends with a big explosion down the hallway. Mission control tries to verify what was that and detects multiple enemy signals.

[ <- Gogh solo battle against 999 spirits. After two turns too panicked to use her Skills and NP, Gogh finds her courage and beats all 999 in a single NP usage.-> ]

Things went surprisingly well. Mash is shocked Gogh could handle such large numbers in one NP. All she did was build stuff and destroy it, letting the enemies get caught up in the crash as collateral damage. She asks if her Noble Phantasm carries any risk of destroying the Singularity. Before da Vinci answers, another pun, another explosion, another wave of countless ghosts.

[ <- Gogh solo battle against 999 spirits. Again, all 999 collapses in one NP.-> ]

Fujimaru deduces the Goghkes are summoning the enemies. It makes no sense but that’s what the circumstantial evidence tells. That’s a problem because one of Lancer Gogh’s passive Skills, Joker Enhancement, is a Mad Enhancement variant that compels her to spam jokes. The Skill quickly demonstrates itself. Explosion.

[ <- Gogh solo battle against 999 spirits. She wants to settle it with one NP again, but is too hungry to do it. On the second turn, she’s completely stunned. Off-screen Tut kills all 999 with a big beam and guides the duo away from danger.-> ]

The two meet Tutankhamen and the giant face accompanying the pharaoh. Fujimaru instantly recognizes him as a Heroic Spirit from either Egypt or Japan, your choice. He introduces himself.
I am a nameless wight summoned hither by a curious fate. Yet, if I dost seek a compact with the living, 'twould be meet to reveal mine name. Kanaḫt-tut-mesut Nefer-ḫeperu-segereḥ-tawy Weṯes-ḫaʿu-seḥetep-neṯeru Neb-ḫepru-rēʿ Tutʿ-anḫ-amūn. Mine name is lengthy as a shite, thus ye may call me shite.
Da Vinci is baffled at the humility it takes for Tutankhamen to call himself nameless with a royal titulary like this (somehow no one acknowledges the much greater gesture of humility that is asking strangers to call him shit). The pharaoh admits that the name Tutankhamen is highly recognizable, as much as he believes it doesn’t make sense for it to be.

Mash and da Vinci go over Tutankhamen’s history and what makes him the most commonly known pharaoh nowadays. They explain Chaldea to the Rogue Servant and form a temporary contract. Meanwhile, Gogh is still totally collapsed from hunger. That’s weird because Servants don’t need food. Who put the concept of famine in her Saint Graph? But there’s no time to speculate on the properties of the Singularity. They need to stop Gogh from starving to death. She comments she’s angry that she’s hungry and the pun causes Tut to explode. One more wave of 999 ghosts.

[ <-Gogh and Tut battle against 999 spirits. Gogh starts at 1 HP, but Tut makes food for her, fully healing her and letting her use her NP to kill all 999 in one go.-> ]

Gogh thanks Tutan for the meal, but he claims it’s not nearly enough to make up for the problems he caused. He has more food to offer in his treasury. Not much, but if provided ingredients, he can produce more.

Da Vinci asks why the Goghkes are making the pharaoh dramatically explode and he explains that he lived a humorless life, so Gogh’s eccentricities are very new to him. D-tier puns make him laugh so hard that he loses control of his magical energy and leak it out explosively.

Tutan acknowledges that Archer is an unstable class for him, but he tries to make up for it with his magecraft: a spell to restrain Gogh’s Skill and a spell to control his hearing. 90% of the explosion risk reduced.

Fujimaru seals the temporary contract. Tutan explains that he has two Noble Phantasms and goes over Nefer Hr Imy Nedjet but say he will only properly explain the second one later.

Da Vinci really wants to finally get to discussing the location, but another wave of spirits appears. No joke or explosion this time. They’re simply in the hallway where the ghosts regularly pass. It will keep happening, prompted or unprompted, until they reach the safe zone on the other side. Tutan gives Gogh the food she needs for the fight, and his magical defense against puns is working effectively. Before the battle, the pharaoh asks that his Master and companion call him by an easy nickname rather than any of his honorary titles. Fujimaru and Gogh starts using Tutan from this point on.

[ <-Normal (Gogh and Tutan forced support aside) battle against 3 waves of 3 spirits. -> ]

Thankfully it was a smaller swarm this time, but da Vinci is annoyed at the Singularity’s tactic of overwhelming them with numbers. Tutan believes it’s no tactic at all, the place merely has too many violent spirits. He uses a spell to send da Vinci all the intel he already gathered, hoping modern people would have an easier time making sense of it.

They need a food source to let Gogh open a path to a safe zone, and for that, Tutan points to a ladder on the wall. It takes to a crop where Tutan is using the dregs of the defeated spirit to grow ingredients for his meals. His magecraft automatically produces additional food from it. We have a full gameplay gimmick operation structure working here. Da Vinci will analyze Tut’s huge pack of data while we progress.

Gogh digs the way out of the ghost hallway. Da Vinci is still wrestling with all the info Tutan provided, so Waver temporarily takes over mission control. He gives the infodump on the Winchester Mystery House. Sarah Winchester kept expanding the house until she died, and Waver speculates the branching point of the Singularity is what if the house never stopped expanding. But the part that bugs Waver is how the Singularity is as haunted as the legends said the house was. This is a mismatch with reality, since multiple Clock Tower mages inspected the mansion in the 20th century and found no ghosts there. It was just a weird building.

That said, Waver doesn’t dismiss the possibility that the Mystery House was remade into something magical in the century that passed since the inspections, or the possibility that the Singularity has nothing to do with the Mystery House.

Tutankhamen points to a wall carved with the letters A.C.L. As mentioned in the info sent to da Vinci, he had already found the same letters written in other 621 locations, and magical energy can be felt in all of them. Waver can confirm this written spell isn’t part of the real Mystery House but has no idea what it does.

The confusing part here is that, unless they’re dealing with a really exceptional Caster, writing a chant this simple on a wall shouldn’t have any effect. But considering how much work it took to put the letters in so many places, it must do something, somehow. Waver speculates the unique rules of the Singularity must give direct power to written words. Da Vinci comes back from the analysis, immediately confirms that, and asks to see Gogh’s pun notebook for proof.

Gogh’s notebook contains the angry/hungry pun, and that’s what makes Gogh get hungry from exerting force. Everything one writes in this space will carry some kind of unpredictable effect, and those effects default to being restrictions on the writer. The team is now forbidden from writing. Sucks for Gogh that she can’t note down her puns, but sketches are allowed as long as she doesn’t sign them.

With that established, they are still clueless on what A.C.L. stands for. It’s probably a trap but what kind of trap? Without an answer, da Vinci decides to tentatively name the Singularity “A. C. L. (Anonymous Clueless Locus)”. Official name pending. To remind Fujimaru of their need solve the mystery and dismantle the Singularity the correct way, Mr. Case Files drops the full-length version of the whydunnit speech.

    And he skedaddled away.
