Merry Christmas, all you good boys and girls. Sadly, I accidently shot Santa Kamera with my pump action on his horrible eggnog binge, so the Santa Clause dictates this is my responsibility from now on. I will bear this burden with all the seriousness as Tim Allen.
Now, down to business.
This here is the thread for the third Secret Santa Contest, Servant Creation edition, ripped offinspired by a certaincurrently defunctfanfic exchange. Any member may submit ideas or concepts for a Servant, which later will be randomly and discreetly distributed to another participant that will write up a complete Servant sheet out of it.
A General Summary:
- Participants will submit their prompts, three per participant. PM them to me.
- Once the deadline's up, participants are then given another user’s prompts to write for. Of the three, you may choose one to write in exchange. You can write more than one, but the idea here is to give more freedom of choice to the receiver, in the case where if they don’t like one prompt, they won’t be stuck with that
- Until the writing deadline is up, participants send their Servants to me. Once the deadline's up, I will post all the submitted sheets in this thread.
- The community (so, not only limited to participants, but even non-sheet writers may also participate) may then vote on their most favorite Servant out of all the submissions, rather than use formal judging. At the end, points are tallied, and a winner is declared.
Rules and Guidelines:
- Those that submit ideas must write up an idea in turn. So, if you don't plan to write up a Servant sheet on your own, refrain from submitting random ideas.
- If you cannot finish a sheet in time for whatever reason, an unfinished sheet is better than nothing at all, so you should submit it, nonetheless.
- Try to keep the prompts flexible and not too demanding nor too limiting. Don't expect others to write something that is 13 pages long, or a very specific version that must perfectly conform to your own headcanon. Check the submitted prompts from previous contest for reference.
1st 2nd 3rd- Requesting Modern Fiction Servants is generally discouraged. Keep the prompts reasonably within the traditional TYPE-MOON settings.
Submitted ideas will be displayed here, so you have time to prepare before they are distributed.
Submitted PromptsPool 1
1. The Road to Hell...
Is paved with good intentions. Once upon a time, there lived a good-aligned individual who set out on a noble quest to right the wrongs of the world and create a better future. Unfortunately, because we cannot have nice things, whether inadvertently or on purpose, our hero ended up leaving things worse than they were before. Was it an unfortunate series of honest mistakes? An unforeseen side effect of their own good qualities? A gradual slip into the dark side? That's for you to decide.
2. Somewhere Closer to Home
Take us on a tour. Pick a famous monument in your hometown, or at least your home country. Tell us the story behind that monument. Was it built in remembrance of some significant historical event? In commemoration of some impressive feat accomplished by a local hero? Write a Servant based on any of those.
3. A Weapon Called These Hands
The two weapons that will never let you down. A barehanded fighter in a Class other than Berserker, Assassin, Ruler, or Avenger. The fact that they fight with good old fisticuffs must be a vital part of the sheet. Martial artists would be the easiest place to start, but you're free to get creative, so long as the figure's number one, most important, most powerful weapons are their fists. Casting spells, even if you use your hands for those, would not count. Ki blasts/Aura Spheres... aren't explicitly forbidden, but may still be on thin ice depending on how you sell it.Pool 2
Prompt the First
Robots in Disguise: Prompts in the title. I wanna see transformers... so write a robot servant that transforms. That's it. No secret conditions, just transforming robot servant.
The Second Prompt
Teenagers with Attitude!: Hero transformations are rad, aren't they? So make that's what I'd like. If you can make it a team, great, but definitely not required. A single hero with a cool transformation is all thats required for this prompt.
Third and final Prompt
Cowabunga, Dude!: Animal ninja's. That's it. Animal Ninja's. They can be humanoid, of course, I'm not mean. But animal ninja's. Whatever you can do, write a ninja thats got animal features prominently. A tail, ears, eyes, claws. The works! That's also good at being a ninja.Pool 3
Prompt 1: Black Moor Goldfish
My favorite animal! For this prompt, craft a servant that's heavily associated with the color black, the Moors, or goldfish. Bonus points if you do two or more in one figure!
Prompt 2: Haters*
I want a hater. Someone who for whatever reason, hates a specific thing, or specific person, or a couple of things. However, I have two caveats:
1- No broad hatreds- hating a group of people or a nation, the whole world, that's some weak hatred- it is both unfocused and uncouth. Be better than that.
2- No Avengers, Berserkers, or Beasts. You can list them as alternative classes, but I feel as they allow the juiciest of loathing requested in the prompt to be skirted past, so I am making them off limits.
Prompt 3: Timeless (2006)
One of my favorite albums growing up was the collaborative album Timeless by Sergio Mendez, featuring a variety of different Hip-Hop and R&B artists of the time.
In the same sense that the Album combined musical cultures of Brazil and America, this prompt asks you to create a servant who was somehow involved in cross-cultural events to create something new. Bonus points if you use a song from the album as a theme.Pool 4
1. Genderbend (Male): Simple enough: Someone who went down in recorded history as a woman is summoned as a Servant as a man.
2. Actual Archer: An Archer who uses a bow and arrow
3. Outside Eurasia: A Servant from outside of Europe and Asia.Pool 5
- Defenseless : Glass cannon, Rinfaces, or even simply low Endurance ... This prompt is entirely free for you to interpret it as you want, as long as it fulfills that defencelessness in one way or another.
- IT'S OVER 9000 !: Write a Servant whose trump card is a power-up.
- Is this the real life ? Is this just a fantasy ? : Write a Servant that stands at the boundary between reality and fantasy. How that may be is all up to your interpretation, between those who had a foot in the Age of Man and one in the Age of Gods and the more literal interpretations ...
Pool 6
With A Twist!: Quite a few patterns have emerged over so many sheets—Edgy avengers, machine-like Greek Gods, and Pretenders with novels worth of hidden text. Take your pick of any of those tropes, or any other servant trope you can think of…and make a sheet that subverts it.
Out Of This World: Make a sheet tied to something from outer space—whether that connection is due to astrology, celestial bodies, or Aliens is up to you.
Not-So-Ancient Legends Those on the throne come from all walks of life, and all eras. Create a servant who's legend took place in “recent times”— within the last 150~200 years is “recent”, for the purposes of this promptPool 7
I.
Winter, the season of snuggling up, presents and... food? Well, yeah. Christmas turkey, glühwein, panettone, and so much more. 'Tis the season to eat more than you can chew, and that's what I want exactly with this prompt!
Cuisine.
Anything related to food works, so... if you for some reason want to do something like Typhon-Ephemeros, or a cannibal, go ahead. However, a gastronomy related Servant, or famous chef works as well! Heck, do a Heroic Spirit known for being eaten. So go on, and get to cooking! (Yes, this prompt was partially made because of that joke-)
II.
Time, everyone thinks it goes in a straight line. But no, it's composed of a wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey thing that loops backwards, forwards, and sideways. So how about a Servant which is irregular?
Time.
I'm talking Lostbelt Servants, Servants that drift from timelines like Miyamoto Musashi, OOParts that seem to be out of place, misplaced 'tropes' (like the Machine Gods being in, well, Ancient Greece), or even Servants who are just themed around the notion of "time." Yes, even Alters who are "what-ifs" count for this prompt.
III.
Calamities, they always come. Civilizations fall because they cannot support their foundations anymore, because their leaders are rotten, because their 'expiry dates' have been reached, and above all, because they cannot withstand change. In the end, through peace or through violence, change always comes and a new era arrives.
However, this prompt is not about a 'Golden Age' or 'the beginning of a civilization', no. This is about those who were left behind, the ones that witnessed everything turn to ash.
The End of an Era.Pool 8
- What Lies at the End of a Journey
- A Servant who has reached the end of a physical or spiritual journey. Ideally someone who set out with the intention of going on a journey, but someone forced to do so by circumstance is also fine.
- The Price of Slavery is Death
- A Servant noted for their direct, militant opposition to the institution of slavery. Be they a guerilla who harassed and harangued slave traders or a leader of an army trading shot with an army of slavers, they must have killed a slaver to qualify for this prompt.
- Even the Darkest Night Gives Way to Day
- A Servant who stood against a calamity or disaster and won, whether at the cost of their life or not. Ideally something supernatural, or at least flavored with supernatural elements.
Pool 9
I won!
A meme from Faces of Evil. Thousands have died, the land is still in ruin, Ganondorf has only been sealed temporarily, and the princess still won't give him a kiss. Despite it all, Link proudly declares his victory. In this spirit, make someone who has still technically won or did what they wanted to accomplish and are happy about it, but when you look behind them, it's just a trail of destruction. Not necessarily evil, but evil isn't a no.
Hey, Ma! There's a weird cat out here!
We all love pets. I want some weird ones. Don't you want to see Martha rubbing the Tarosque's belly like it's a housecat? Doesn't have to be a Rider, but give me a Servant that has an out there pet, maybe even completely incomprehensible as a pet, and they are an affectionate owner.
For the memes, boyo!
Make an absolute troll. Someone who would wipe out an entire country for a joke or put salt instead of sugar in your coffee. Make them however dark or light-hearted as you please. Just be sure to have fun doing it, even if you end up hating them by the end.Pool 10
1. Wangst
Tragic figures exist. Within each comedy is a sobbing face. Within each utopia, a quietly crumbling heart. You cannot have joy without sorrow, for sorrow is a beacon to create joy......But holy fucking *shit* are some people total bitches about it all! Write a sheet of an angsty or tragic figure....but make it so fucking over-the-top tragic, so needlessly heartrending that at some point it just circles from genuinely sad to just plain annoying. Or, you know, write a tragic figure except said figure doesn't really dwell on their tragic past any more. 'Wallowing in self-pity is for suckers', after all!
Angst bad >:C
2. A Day in the Limelight
Some people are famous for one thing and one thing alone. Mayhaps it's a certain invention, maybe a certain action, maybe even a certain event they witnessed or partook in, Either way, those figures have legends stood upon, formed off of and culminated in these sole, singular actions....and yet they are legends all the same. Build a sheet for somebody who's basically famous for one significant act/event, no matter who it is!
3. Dear Satan,
It's Christmas! You've waited by the chimney, prepared the milk and cookies, tried to stay awake as long as you can, hoping, pleading for Santa to appear before your very eyes! You've been a good boy/girl all year, you've treated all the mean kids at school kindly, you even shared your cookie with that jerk Jeremy who bullies you and throws stuff at you a lot even though Ms. Carroll says he does it because he likes you (we don't judge sexualities here, kiddo). You've even written Santa a letter telling him all about what a good kid you were and what kind of present you want!
Unfortunately you are dyslexic and spelled his name wrong.
Write a sheet for a demonic figure. It can be a Demon God Pillar, a regular demon, some theoretical horseshit devil a mathematician came up with, whatever. There's only one requirement for this sheet besides being a demon: Make it a Santa Servant.Pool 11
1) Faustian Deal
A figure associated with striking a deal with what they, subjectively or otherwise, consider to be the Devil. Alternatively, write about the subject most affected by the deal.
2) It Was The Nightmare before Saturnalia
There is nothing more vicious than the politics of calender dates. Write about the figures related to a holiday whose identity or context have been disfigured, from either side.
3) Birth, Life, Death, and Massive Evil Dragons
The line between nature and mankind is supposedly vast, but the extent to which one affects the other is far weightier a toll. Write about the figures who blur these lines , whether humans affected and possessed by natural phenomena (e.g. Fafnir), magical or otherwise, or natural entities desecrated and turned human by civilization (e.g. Enkidu).Pool 12
1. I, Robot
Parameters: Write on individuals who were bound but a code, or rule. It must have an effect on their story, be it positive or negative.
2. The Song of Despair
Parameters: Write on an individual who have lost a beloved. It must be a driving point in their plot.
3. The Spider's Thread
Parameters: Write on an individual who was selfish in life. It must lead to a consequence.Pool 13
Africa Is Not A Country, Damnit!: Literally anyone native to Africa. If Type-Moon doesn't care to do it, we'll do it ourselves! Non-Egyptians preferred, but if you have a banger Hatshepsut or Narmer cooking, go nuts.
I've Been To The Year 1000: Someone who was alive in the year 1000, from anywhere in the world. For extra flexibility, it can be either 1000 B.C. or 1000 A.D. Classical fictional characters are fine, so long as they're set in or around either of those time period.
Divine Inspiration: Make a sheet for a god. It can be any god, from any culture, just so long as it is an established god from a non-modern religion or mythology. Pseudo-Servants are cool (either as Nasu-verse characters or as Heroic Spirit Fusions like Nemo or Lakshmi); just make sure that the chosen god is relevant to the final product beyond just being a set of superpowers and stats.Pool 14
1. Arbiters of the End
MoonCancers. Final bosses. Beings that usher in the end of Man. Alternatively, enemies of the Moon or the Cell within. Create a Servant of the MoonCancer class.
2. Lovers in Twain
Hearts bound so tightly that even in death, one must surely follow the other. Create a duo Servant that portrays a pair of lovers. Or, if the urge so takes you, a solitary Servant whose beloved has for some reason failed to come along.
3. Muttley, not Dick
There are heroes, and those who support them. There are villains - and those who serve them. Create a 'henchman' Servant. Someone who was never a villain in their own right, but merely moved at the will of a great evil.Pool 15
Prompt 1
Scientists
Through Human History, many figures have helped understand how the World works and used that understanding to craft marvellous inventions, as well as hideous devices. Those who look beyond superstition, beyond folklore, to reach the truth. Also weaponised science and knowledge, fuck yeah!
Prompt 2
Joy
There are Avengers warped by rage, Berserkers consumed by hate, Servants so edgy they cut themselves constantly just by standing in a corner brooding. Well, not those. Those Servants are joyful, happy, revel in being. Of course, if you really insist, their being can be absolutely loathsome, but they don't mind, they enjoy it!
Prompt 3
Thieves
Heroes. Great people who left their mark on History. Demonslayers, Dragonslayers, great Rulers, tragic Avengers, mighty Warriors, artists that inspired many to reach new heights. And then, there are them. The tricksters. The canny. The underhanded. Those who made it their trade to steal from others. Or who only did it the once, but did it so magnificently they would always be remembered for it. So steal a jewel. Some steal a kingdom. Some even steal our hearts!Pool 16
1. The Center of the Earth
2. The Farthest Reaches of the Earth
3. The FuturePool 17
1. By Your Side: "I am your biggest fan. I am your biggest fan." Create a servant of two people with a close relationship sharing a Saint Graph.
2. Hero: "On a plastic horse; fighting like its real; with a cardboard sword". The servant has to be someone who embodies the ideals of chivalric romance.
3. Successor: "Uno! Remaining on this stage, I am the only one. I am my biggest fan! I am my biggest fan! I am my enemy and my friend." The servant has to be the successor of another character who qualifies as a heroic spirit of their own.Pool 18
Prompt One: Tank
- A Servant who specializes in "mitigation"
- They protect their allies and draw aggression from their foes
- A Tank does not have to be purely defensive, an important part of being a tank is leadership! Aggressively taking space for your comrades so they can show off to their fullest as you defend them.
Make a servant who can be described as a mighty tank!
Prompt Two: DPS
- This one ought to be straightforward.
- Make a selfish servant with whose talents are centered entirely around dishing out huge amounts of damage.
- This can be a destructive fighter who brings ruin to the environment, a swift assassin who takes out critical targets, or a frontline fighter who who duels enemies with unmatched skill
- Most critically, however, for the purposes of this prompt, a DPS must have no utility outside of the physical threat they pose.
Make a servant who can be described as a threatening DPS!
Prompt Three: Support
- Someone who is not primarily centered upon fighting themselves, but on aiding others.
- A support works to enable their allies through various means.
- This can be a Caster who enhances their allies capabilities far beyond what they could typically achieve, a healer who can save their allies from grievous injury, or a rallying point for their allies to gain a second wind.
- The greatest weakness of any support, however, is that they do not possesses the offensive capabilities of the allies they aid, and are little threat directly.
Make a servant who can be described as useful support!Pool 19
Mr Sandman…. Bring me a Dream Servant
Servants that guard Guda's mental state, temper with somebodies dreams in their sleep, have connections to the Dreamlands or are associated heavily with dreams. I dont want cheap copouts like "well he has the dream to be a king"!
Back in the old days, the gods were cooler! = Old Gods
Show me some deities that are older than the ones in charge. A Deus Otiosus perhaps, the Greek Titans or local gods present before the Olympians took control, Vile and Ve - brothers of Odin who created humanity with him, the generation before Enki and Ea, figures that were present at the beginning of time and then did not take a relevant role.
Basically deities or other figures, that should be a big deal in theory but arent (anymore).
Minecraft
From the pebble to the mountain, from a useless rock to a precious gem. The reason or the method of murder. The tool of destruction, the means of creation. Sculptors, architects, city makers, space rocks, mountains, old ammunition, thunder stones, stone monsters, what have you. Show me what you got.Pool 20
Rejection of Human Order
Humanity rules the world, yet there are creatures, such as the Nemean Lion, or maybe even individuals who defy the order established by mankind. Create a Servant who rejects Human Order.
Vainglory
Originally, this term referred to an overestimation of one’s abilities, paired with the belief that divine assistance was unnecessary. It denotes boasting about the superfluous in an act of absolute futility. While this word often appears in Christian contexts, it’s not mandatory to create a Christian-themed Servant. The prompt is straightforward: design a Servant who embodies, in some way, the concept of vainglory.
The Moon is not the Moon
A prompt entirely open to interpretation. What could these words possibly mean? Who knows.Pool 21
Insanity
A Servant possessing this either as a Class or Personal Skill. The particularities of how he or she came to acquire it will be left at your discretion as long as it is featured and it matters in regards to the construction of the Servant.
Healer
A Servant related to a healing practice be it for body or soul, or even someone so wholesome that they can heal anyone with their sunny personality.
Family
Write a duo Servant of two relatives. Mothers or fathers and their offsprings, siblings or cousins, so on so forth.Pool 22
1. Knight Armsmagic swordKnight Arms
The name of the weapon thatcarry.KnightsEther Liners
All human species born in this world are effected by Grain. Babies born with a large amount of Grain in them shape it as if it’s their bones during their lives, and when they reach adulthood, it is laid outside their body. Because it is created with the unanalyzed entity Grain, it is able to cause various effects and its power is strong enough to be considered a weapon.
Only few humans can shape the Knight Arms, and those who carry a Knight Arm powerful enough to be used for war are considered as Ether Liners. Only one Knight Arm exists per Ether Liner.
2. Palalalala OrganizationPalalalala Organization
This is an organization of people who aim to fuse two conflicting ideas, the teachings of God and magecraft. Although it is small, it is a research institute. Once destroyed by the Holy Church, which saw them as a danger, a few researchers are said to have escaped the Church’s clutches and gone into hiding underground. Palalalala members believe that a symbol of a “miracle” once created by the magus they worship exists somewhere in the world, and even now they are working to obtain it. So rumor says.
3. Mystic Eyes of Death PerceptionMystic Eyes of Death Perception
The peculiar ability possessed by Shiki, our protagonist. Categorized as a psychic ability.
He can see the normally imperceivable “lines of death,” something akin to the point of collapse in all things.
These lines of death are like seams, which means all it takes to sever an object is to run a blade through them.
The strength and hardness of the object does not enter the equation. No matter how hard or frail, the feeling is always the same. Perceivable = Cuttable.
In addition, as things dismembered by the lines of death “kills” that specific part, healing is impossible. This is because the severed part has died on the existential level, even if it only looks like it has been cut.
Shiki is a living being and thus he’s able to better understand the death of things that are alive, same as him—this is why he unconsciously perceives the lines of death on the living.
However, Shiki himself can stress his consciousness and overexert his eyeballs to visualize even the ordinarily incomprehensible lines of death on inanimate objects, and through this, he can perceive even the “death of space—or, death of existence,” as an ultimate locality. (Shiki’s brain is unable to withstand seeing the lines to this level)
In addition to the lines of death, there are the points of death, which are a grade above the lines.
If the lines of death can be likened to blood vessels, the points of death are hearts.
Those that have had their point of death pierced are killed in literally a single strike. Just as in the case with the “death of space,” Shiki has to overexert himself if he wants to be able to see them.
It’s important to note that while the lines of death exist in all things, there are differences in how distinct they are.
Putting it simply: the lines of death are lifespan.
He can easily perceive the death of humans who only have the lifespan of about fifty to a hundred years, but it is difficult for him to perceive the death of existences who possess a lifespan in the hundreds or thousands of years.
Meaning, as long as he is trying to perceive the concept of death as a shape, he cannot quite so readily grasp it coming from things that are difficult to kill.
This is why when Shiki is up against Superior Dead Apostles or Arcueid in the story, he has to push his consciousness to the limit if he wants to perceive their death.
(*Superior Dead Apostles are hard to kill, while Arcueid cannot die. Shiki’s murder of Arcueid in the beginning of the game made the impossible possible. In the Tsukihime world, that Arcueid would die or be killed is something very much out of the norm)Pool 23
Something Wicked This Way Comes: Or maybe not, that's up to you. Basically, I want harbingers of change, heralds of an era’s twilight, or omens of what is to come— someone who is involved in a transformational period pretty directly. Whether they are the final blow to a crumbling dynasty or they are the ones to start a rebellion, their presence signals an end and a beginning. It doesn't need to be something which they have done directly.
Distorted: Someone who is for 'good' or 'bad' fundamentally incompatible with the era they're in. Fundamentally, people who are out of sync with their current reality, individuals fundamentally incompatible with the era they inhabit. It could be someone like Don Quixote or Iori, someone who was born in the wrong era or it could be someone who has simply persisted for far too long outliving their own age and/or purpose.
The Ones Who Shaped The Ending of Their Stories: The ones left behind to pick up the pieces, I'd like figures who, while they didn't start the fire, but they sure were responsible for what rose from the ashes.Pool 24
Prompt One: The Last Straw
All it takes to break a camel's back is a single straw to be added to an overtaxed animal. All it takes for a dam to finally break under the weight of water is a single drop to upset the equilibrium. All it takes to change the world is theperson in thewrongrightsituation. Write a hero or villain, who finally broke the balance of the world.wrongright
Prompt Two: Heir to Evil
Monarchy, a system of government used across the land of men and the land of gods, of one absolute ruler. But men and gods are fallible, are capable of cruelty, ignorance, in simplest words, evil. But when the evil is gone, dead by age or another's hand, one must still inherit the crown, bloodsoaked as it is. Write a new king or queen, picking up the pieces of their parent, or reveling in the destruction of the past.
Prompt Three: Grand Chaos
Fate/Grand Order, simultaneously the best writing this franchise has ever had that simultaneously carries absolute insanity and the dumbest things you have ever seen or read, by people pulling feats or abilities so far out of their ass to justify why this figure from the most obscure history or folk tale or mythology you've ever seen can kill God. (Then again look at CaS in general, maybe we're not so different.) So in that spirit, commence some asspulling so far your hand is out your mouth and make an obscure nobody the most Important Person Ever.
