    Gender: Male
    Other Qualifying Classes: Saber, Assassin
    Title: The King of Tragedies
    Alignment: Lawful Evil/Lawful Mad
    Country of Origin: Scotland
    Source: Historical Record (c. 1005-1057)/Literature (1606)
Likes: Being King, stability, travelling across the moors
Dislikes: "The Scottish Play", English invasions, "witches"
    Talents: Acquiring Promotions
Natural Enemies: Edward the Confessor, "Hecate", William Shakespeare
CV: [EN] JB Blanc (Ares, Marvel's Future Avengers)
[JP] Takeshi Kaga (Golbez, Dissidia Final Fantasy)
    Armament:
    Spoiler:
    • A broken claideamh; the age and tear of war having long fractured his blade. In spite of this, the blade itself is still a functional shortsword and resilient against repeated clashes with other Servants' weapons. It is the conduit for his Claideamh Buidsichean Noble Phantasm.

    • A combination of worn, torn padded cloths of dark blue with a blood-soaked breastplate and a single. iron pauldron on his left shoulder. His plate was once proudly emblazoned with the Scottish coat of arms but is now, due to the effects of Innocent Monster, overcast by the Mark of Hecate in a dark, ominous purple.

    Parameters

    Strength: (B) A
    Endurance: (B) A
    Agility: (D) C
    Mana: C
    Luck: E
    Noble Phantasm: B+

    Class Skills

    Mad Enhancement
The Class Skill that characterizes a Berserker, raising basic parameters and strengthens one's physical abilities in exchange of hindering mental capacities and/or in exchange for their sense of reason.
    • C-: Rank Upin all Parameters except Mana and Luck. Communication is possible, but, due to Innocent Monster, Berserker's conversational skills are limited entirely to quoting the play he hates with a seething passion. Thus, he opts to limit his dialogue where possible.

    Personal Skills

    Innocent Monster
An attribute possessed by Servants whose history and existence have been distorted by the monstrous reputations they accrued across the course of their life and thereafter. As a consequence, the Servant's abilities and appearance have been rendered to conform to the specifications of their legend. Incidentally, this personal skill cannot be removed.
    • A: Had he been summoned as a Saber or within his own homeland of Scotland, Macbeth may have been able to manifest as Mac Bethad the Red King. A monarch who won his throne through war and bloodshed, but otherwise had a relatively stable and peaceful reign until its final years, wherein an invasion by England and a breakdown of relations between Scotland's many thanes sparked the conflict that saw him killed. As Berserker or Assassin, however, Shakespeare's twisted fallen hero overlaps his own Spirit Graph; warping his appearance, Skills and Noble Phantasms to better fit the man feared, reviled and even pitied as the King of Tragedies.

    Battle Continuation
A Skill that allows for the continuation of combat after sustaining mortal wounds. It will also reduce mortality rate from injury. This Skill represents the ability to survive and/or the mentality of one who doesn't know when to give up, consisting of one's strength of vitality in predicaments. It is also one of the powers of a vampire.
    • -: This Skill has been absorbed into his Noble Phantasm, No Man of Woman Born.

    Blessing of the Goddess [False]
A Skill that denotes one being blessed by a goddess. This "blessing" is in fact untrue; often a fabrication of one's own zealotry or a conflation of lore.
    • A-: A "gift from Hecate, the Greek goddess of magic" (read: William Shakespeare), in the form of her crest on his breastplate. Under its effect, it gives him a Magic Resistance of A as well as a B-Rank in Mana Burst [Shadow]. However, Hecate's "gift" is fickle and fleeting; each consecutive time he fails a Luck ability check, his Magic Resistance Ranks Down until it is grossly negligible, and even a rank amateur at witchcraft could dominate his fate.

    Wakefulness
The power to always remain alert, regardless of fatigue.
    • A: "Macbeth does murder sleep." At this rank, one is immune to the concept of "fatigue" and "sleep". Not even mental interference or sleep-inducing spells can slow or halt Berserker. In conjunction with No Man of Woman Born, this makes Berserker's rampages nigh unstoppable as he will never falter nor slow on his warpath.

    Noble Phantasms

    A Life Charmed and Unhallowed
    No Man of Woman Born
    Type: Anti-Unit [Self]
    Rank: B+

According to Shakespeare's play, Berserker was a man ruled by prophecy--the most notable of which surrounded his own death; foretold by witches of Hecate to him. This prophecy being that "no man of woman born" could ever slay him. This fabricated fate materialises as a Noble Phantasm that gives him the curse of semi-immortality. No matter how grievous a wound he sustains, whether he is incinerated, his heart destroyed, reduced to a pool of blood or apparently atomised, if the individual who struck him was 'born of a woman', Berserker will regenerate fully from the attack in a matter of mere moments. In combination with Wakefulness, his threshold for pain is wherein his danger in a Holy Grail War lies; few enemies can truly harm him, let alone kill him. Life is but a walking shadow, a wretched ghoul, Berserker is to the naked eye little more than an empty 'immortal". Trudging from one fight to the next; nigh unstoppable physically, and never seeming to tire.

However, this curse of immortality is not without its limitations. Due to the malignant nature of the witches of Hecate, the definition of "man of woman born" includes a variety of loopholes; the most famous, represented by the man that slew Berserker in his original life, being those born under such emergency procedures as a C-section; "untimely ripp'd" as opposed to naturally birthed. Servants born of a non-human nature - such as Beasts, homunculi, the children of Elementals or goddesses, etc. - can also bypass this curse to inflict potentially mortal wounds on Berserker. Furthermore, his regenerative ability still has its upper limits. While a severed limb could, in theory, be reconnected? Berserker, or his Master, would need to fetch the severed limb and hold it up to Berserker so that he may be able to sew himself back together. Finally, Noble Phantasms of a higher tier of existence than a witch's prophecy, such as the holy sword Excalibur, would bypass any bewitchment or protection provided by No Man of Woman Born posing extreme danger to Berserker's existence.

    Wretched Blade of the Witch-King
    Claidheamh Buidsichean
    Type: Anti-Unit/Anti-Army
    Rank: B

Berserker's broken claidheamh (a Gaelic longsword) is the manifestation of Berserker's 'dealings' with the unhallowed. However, there is the faintest smidgeon of truth to the Bard's nationalistic propaganda as much as Berserker will refuse to admit it. During the final years of his reign, when an invasion orchestrated by Edward the Confessor of England struck Scotland, Berserker had sought out and consulted the wild women of Scotland. Weird sisters who practiced herbalism and, indeed, witchcraft. However, none dabbled in the cult practices of Hecate, a Greek goddess alien and intrusive upon their culture. But so influential was the Bard's word that this false magic of a false goddess has claimed even Berserker's weapon.

Even broken, so long as Macbeth wields this claidheamh, his martial prowess and technique cannot be diminished no matter how maddened or frenzied he is.

Its true, devastating power, however, is activated upon the invocations of Macbeth’s fantastical titles: "Hail Macbeth, Thane of Glamis! Hail Macbeth, Thane of Cawdor! Hail Macbeth, for he shall be King hereafter!" The broken blade is wreathed in dark magic, generating a claymore-sized greatsword of shadowy essence. This allows Berserker to fully tap into his renowned fighting prowess with a sword more comparable in size to the blades he wielded in life. While in this state, his Mana Burst (Shadows) Skill is Ranked Up to an A-Rank, and he can - albeit, via the use of a Master’s Command Seal - create a wide-spreading dark mist ("so foul and fair a night"), able to engulf entire city blocks; its aura and presence suffocating to lesser Servants as well as most Masters on a failed Endurance check.

    Lore

Berserker's true name is none other than Mac Bethad mac Findlaích, the Rí Deircc (Red King) of Alba from 1040-1057. However, thanks to a certain world-famous play of betrayal, curses, the divine right of kingship and royal propaganda by a certain Bard, he is better known around the world as Macbeth the King of Tragedies.

Little reliable history is actually available on Macbeth's life. What is known is that he was the Mormaer of Moray when King Duncan I launched his ill-fated invasion of the lands and was killed by Macbeth's forces. Thus, Macbeth himself was crowned High King of Alba, alongside his wife and queen Gruoch (the widow of the previous Mormaer of Moray, who may have been killed by his successor, in one of the few potential parallels between fact and ficiton). Despite his famed tyranny, Alba was in fact a relatively peaceful country under Macbeth's rule. That is, at least, until 1054 when Edward the Confessor and the Duke of Northumbria launched an invasion of Scotland by the English.

Thus, Macbeth turned in desperation to the weird sisters of the moors and highlands.

They offered to him their gifts of foresight. They blessed his already commendable fighting spirit with even greater power. They crafted him into a champion of Alba to defend her in its darkest hour.

Alas, alack, nothing could save Macbeth in 1057 from the forces of the future Malcolm III. Macbeth fell at the Battle of Lumphanan and his stepson Lulach joined hi m in death not long thereafter. Thus was paved the way to Malcolm's ascension. And, centuries later, his name would be further sullied and ground into the dirt by acclaimed playwright William Shakespeare. His dealings with the weird sisters were twisted into a macabre series of prophecy by a triad of acolytes to Hecate. Macbeth, no more ruthless than other warrior-kings of his era, became a cutthroat traitor who'd kill any of his former friends. His wife manipulative and toxic. His kingship false and invalid.

And this would become how the rest of the world saw him...

    Personality

Astark contrast to most summoned to his Class, Berserker is often quiet and stoic. Many observe him as frequently appearing sullen, but always with an intensity in his face. He speaks few words for even his words have been stolen from him by the play. He can only speak in full sentences if those sentences are direct quotations from Shakespeare's script. Because of his silent persona, it might be easy to presume Berserker as "dumb". But in truth this is far from the case. He is a talented and steadfast warrior with a will of iron to keep on living, despite the nihilistic speeches forced upon him and the aura of hollowness he exudes.

When he commits to a task? He will see that task done. Anyone ELSE making references to "the Scottish Play" around him best beware, for Berserker may yet fly into an uncontrollable rampage at how thoroughly his legend has been 'tainted'. That said, however? There is that one American cartoon he is featured in. The one about the flying beasts of stone. That series pleases him. It treats his name with respect.

His wish for the Holy Grail is a simple one. Have a terrible "accident" befall William Shakespeare before he ever dared to write a first draft about his story. And should that accident happen to involve the man walking face-first into a certain Scot king's sword? All the better! Maybe then he could go back to being "the Red King" as he was in life. And not the King of Tragedies...

While mine goes for making his powers completely fictional, you do what's usually done by making it what actually happened to him. However, yours has to be the most interesting of those that I've seen.

Mac Bethad mac Findlaích: The faceclaim is from one of my favorite games of all time, so I feel obligated to comment. If there was ever a candidate for Innocent Monster, he's definitely it, and I quite enjoy the dark and terrifying ways it's twisted its Saint Graph here, as well as the more petty likes and dislikes of his listed at the end. I'm fond of the little detail that the witches of his time didn't actually worship a Greek goddess, in particular. I would like to see him and Richard II summoned into the same war and reluctantly collaborating with each other to retroactively murder that sneaky git Willy Shakes.

Thank you both very kindly for the feedback! The big goal of mine when I started work on Mac Bethad was to actually acknowledge the real historical figure (sorta how Lancer of Black was the real, bonafide Vlad III... just with that one Noble Phantasm that he hated so), but also show what happens when one's legend is so thoroughly warped and distorted by such an iconic take it completely morphs their character and combat abilities. And acknowledge small hints and glimmers of the real Mac Bethad amongst them all (hence, his sword's origins really being from druids and wild women enchanting it... and not the cult of a Greek goddess ). Berserkers to me are a really interesting class to tackle because for something as simple as "a brick", there's still a goldmine of creative opportunities for the class that takes and twists a hero to be defined by their rage.

And ngl? Macbeth and Richard III tag-teaming to try and be rid of the Bard once and for all is not only a great idea? But it's also the single most bizarre buddy road trip/black comedy movie I want to see, ASAP.

    Out of Disguise

True Name: Marian Loxley (née Plantagenet) (Maid Marian)
    Class: Archer
    Gender: Female
    Other Qualifying Classes: N/A
Title: Robin Hood; The Green Lady
Armament: Her yew longbow, a short sword and a knife.
    Alignment: Chaotic Good
    Country of Origin: Britain (England)
    Source: Folklore
Likes: Archery tournaments, honouring her husband’s legacy, civil reform
Dislikes: Exploitation of power, corrupt officials, the aristocracy
    Talents: Redistributing wealth, vigilantism
Natural Enemies: King John, “that witch” who murdered her husband, Sheriff of Nottingham
CV: [EN] Tara Platt (Mitsuru Kirijo, Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3)
[JP] Atsuko Yuya (Jill Valentine, Resident Evil 5)

    Parameters

    • Strength: D
    • Endurance: D
    • Agility: A
    • Mana: C
    • Luck: B/A (Rank Up via the effects of Robin’s Ring)
    • Noble Phantasm: B+

    Class Skills

    Independent Action
The ability to remain independent even when rejecting the Magical Energy supply from one's Master; the ability that allows for action even in the absence of the Master. Typically featured as a Class Skill of the Archer Class.
    • A: It is possible to take action even without a Master. However, to use Noble Phantasms of great magical energy consumption, backup from the Master is necessary. At Rank A, it is possible for a Servant to stay in the world for about a week without a Master.

    Magic Resistance
Grants protection against magical effects. Differing from the Resistance effect that merely rejects Magical Energy, this ability cancels the spells altogether.
    • D: Cancels Single-Action spells. Magic Resistance of the same degree of an amulet that rejects magical energy.

    Personal Skills

    Golden Rule [Wealth & Body]
A rare Skill that combines two kinds of Golden Rule: the measurement of one’s fortune to acquire wealth; and possession of a natural and perfect goddess-like body, preserving beauty.
    • C: As the niece of King Richard I and King John, Archer was famed across England both for her wealth - able to live in lavish comfort for nigh all other life - and her exceptional beauty; widely considered to be “the most beautiful woman” in England of her age.

    Incitement
A Skill that functions as the acquisition of the words and gestures to lead the citizens and the masses. Especially, when employed against an individual, it functions as a sort of mental attack.
    • B+: Despite not having been born and raised among the people, Archer learned from her husband and his friends the art of reaching out to and empathising with them. This made her something of a civic leader in later life, both as Lady Marian and as Robin Hood, whom people from all walks of life looked up to. Ranks Up if trying to inspire resistance against a corrupt authority figure.

    Intrigue
A Skill that functions as the acquisition of the words and gestures to control the rich and the influential. Considered to be the counterpart to Incitement. Cannot be used to sway those with an affinity towards the divine, however; would require another Skill in combination with it to achieve such an effect.
    • B: While she always had a distaste towards the gentry of England during her lifetime, Archer knew how to integrate herself well among them; manipulating them to lower their guard or expose vital details to her heists with the Merry Men; or to push her proposals for civil and administrative reform forward.

    Nature of a Rebellious Spirit
The temperament to never remain at one location and never embrace a lord. A wandering star that does not have the capacity to be king nor is capable of finding his own king. Negates the effects of Charisma with the same rank.
    • B

    Noble Phantasms
Everything I Do, I Do It For You
    Robin’s Ring
    Type: Anti-Unit [Self]
    Rank: C

A simple band of gold: its most notable feature being the vivid, forest-green gemstone on it. It is Archer’s most prized possession; the ring her dear, late husband gave to her on their wedding day in the heart of Sherwood Forest. Archer never remarried during her life out of dedication. The ring itself seems to possess passive magic, as if the will of her husband continues to protect and assist her in subtle ways, even when separated by death.

So long as she is wearing this ring, Archer receives a Rank Up to her Luck and can disguise her presence as a Servant passively, so long as she is not preparing an attack. This acts as an equivalent to a C-Rank in Presence Concealment; allowing for Archer to blend in with society, and effectively use her Intrigue and Incitement Skills to engage with multiple circles of people. If, however, she is hiding amidst woodland and foliage, she can temporarily match the incredible woodland stealth of her predecessor, bolstering her Presence Concealment to the equivalent of an A-Rank.

Golden Arrow of a Widow’s Lamentation
    Failnaught Ardour
    Type: Anti-Unit
    Rank: B+

In life, during her tenure as Robin Hood, Archer eventually came into acquisition of the legendary bow of Sir Tristan himself, Failnaught. While she typically prefers to use her own yew longbow for combat, as it requires a negligible amount of mana compared to the far steeper amount required for the bow of the famed Knight of the Round Table, she is able to channel Failnought Ardour to replicate the Golden Arrow: the trophy won by her husband, in her name, at her wretched uncle’s tournament, denoting him as the greatest archer in all the land. Of course, as she is not the Knight of the Bow herself, Failnaught Ardour is not as powerful as it would be in the hands of Sir Tristan.

This Golden Arrow manifests through Failnaught Ardour as a single, shimmering bolt of brilliant gold. In actuality, it is comprised of hundreds upon hundreds of smaller vacuum arrows all overlapping and intersecting with one another into a single, cohesive form. No matter how swift a hero shot at with this bow, unless one has the innate ability to jump dimensions or to remove themselves from this plane of existence, the Golden Arrow will meet its mark. Piercing through any magical defenae, it then collapses; rending and tearing its target apart internally with every single vacuum arrow. A successful Endurance check can mitigate the severity of this damage, but still leave a victim heavily crippled with internal damage, suffering Rank Downs in all of their Parameters until fully healed. A failed Endurance check, however, means certain death as their Magical Core is ruptured and torn asunder. Such is the strength of a grieving widow’s lamentations when fired by the legendary bow of lamentations itself.

    Lore

Archer's true name is Marian Loxley, the former Maid Marian of fame from the Robin Hood stories, and later Robin Hood in her own right in secret.

The daughter of one of Henry II's many illegitimate children, Marian was elevated to a position of luxury thanks largely to her father's successful career as a knight of the realm, and their favour with her uncle Richard. Betrothed to the then-Sheriff of Nottingham and moved to the northern city by the orders of her uncle John during his regency of the realm, it was here that Marian first met the love of her life. One of the many Green Men who took up the mantle of "Robin Hood", for all his dashing antics, he himself was soft spoken and poetic; a true romantic at heart who just sought companionship.

The kind and gentle Marian and the quiet but resolved Robin were a match made in heaven. She defied her betrothal, supported the Merry Men's campaigning against John and his corrupt officials and eventually, with the blessings of Richard I during his briefest of returns to the country he was supposed to be ruling (but much would rather leave to others while he gallivanted off to fight in the Holy Land), they were at last allowed to wed. Life truly seemed perfect.

Then John became King of England.

Then her beloved Robin died. Betrayed by his own cousin during a bleeding and stabbed by her husband. At the very least, Robin Hood was able to take one of his killers with him. He could never bring himself to harm a lady, however.

... but Marian would not have that same hesitation when she found the treacherous "healer".

Robin's death had broken her world. And Nottingham's spirit. Without the Green Man, who would protect them? And Marian knew... it had to be her. While Marian, Lady Dowager Loxley, would work to publicly better the lives of the city's people? At night, she would don the green. At night, she would rob from the rich with whom she had to indulge when the sun was up. She became Robin Hood.

A mantle she would be the last to claim.

    Personality

Marian always thinks of the little people, giving what she can and doing whatever it takes to make sure they are cared for. At one point, she was a gentle soul who was a supportive figure to the real Robin Hood and his Merry Men. She made sure they were well cared for during restful times, and she was the one whose smile brightened their day when a mission had gone awry.

However, after the death of her love, she became quieter, melancholy, and somewhat vengeful. She throws a mask to show herself as the lovable Robin Hood that she tries to live through, but she is truly lonely and quiet from the sorrow of her lover's death. She despises those who are rich, who take advantage of those below them to better themselves. She has no problem to steal from them, and she is willing to kill if they get in her way. She can also be a very stubborn person, going against what others say to do her own thing or what she believes is right.

Her only wish upon the Grail would be to reunite with her beloved husband and their friends. To be able to finally put down the bow and end her mission. However, were she to meet another whose heart touched hers in the same way as her dear husband's, the conflict between finally moving on from her grief and "fidelity" to a long-dead husband whose golden arrow struck her heart would be terrible.

    Relationships

Robin Hood: "...a...are yo...is tha-... is that you... beloved...?"
Little John: "No matter the face you wear, still ever the jovial giant, eh Johnny-boy?" [sad chuckle] "I missed that spirit."
Richard I: "Oh? Are you actually going to stick around this time, Uncle? How many days am I to be privileged with your 'grace' until you bugger off back to Jerusalem?"
King John: "When we last spoke, you were a dead man walking with only your crown protecting you. Your crown means NOTHING in this age..."
Tristan: "My apologies, but I rather would like to keep this bow, should you permit it. Its sadness... it's strangely comforting."
Gilgamesh: "All that gold, and yet the shine still fails to cover up your blackened heart? Well, then I suppose it shan't matter if I were to take some of it."

As someone who enjoys the more unique concepts people make (even if I myself may not be able to add my own), this is something I really love. Reminds me of one story who had Assassin Robin Hood, but it was revealed near the end to be Guy Gisbourne, who was decapitated and presented as "Robin Hood" to the public. Whenever someone tried to summon Robin Hood rather than Robin of Loxley, they get Gisbourne. It was a great twist that I have now spoiled (yeah me!). Helped that he was in a really good story.

I only have two complaints and a question for this one. One is the issues with grammar, one of which being "Betrayed by his own cousin during a bleeding and stabbed by her husband." which I cannot possibly decipher, and the other being not having a personalized description for Nature of a Rebellious Spirit, but that ones more nitpick than anything else.

The question is, Protection from Arrows is not a magical defense. Could a Servant possessing that Skill feasibly avoid or parry the Arrow NP, at least if it was at a high enough rank? Or could they perhaps intercept the arrow and destroy it with some tool or attack? Basically, I'm asking if, since they can't avoid it by running, are there ways to stop the arrow from hitting its mark, as it is not an EX NP?

Heya! Just to answer yoru questions and quibbles, 'cause admittedly I wrote and posted this sheet at, lik, 2-3 AM o n my end--

    1) It's a referenceto the story of Robin Hood's death (well, one of them). In it, his cousin is a prioress who was giving him a leech bleeding (as you do). But she betrayed Robin and, depending on which take you use, either bled him dry herself with excessive leaching or had her lover/husband, Sir Roger of Doncaster, stabbing as weakened Robin fatally (only to get a knifeto the gut in the process). So what I had meant to explain and failed to (sorry 'bout that) is that Robin of Loxley was betrayed by his own cousin and her husband as revenge for Robin having been given his father's lands and titles upon being given back a lordship.

    2) I totally forgot to put in a personalized description. Sorry 'bout that. ^^;

    3) In theory? It is entirely possible Protection from Arrows could deflect the blow at a high enough rank. Lower ranks could probably halt the Golden Arrow itself but then be struck hundreds of times over by the smaller vacuum arrows that detonate from it for external injury, but someone with a B-Rank or higher could mitigate or even negate the damage of this Noble Phantasm.

And not going to lie? That idea of Guy of Gisborne as "Robin Hood" is FAN-TASTIC. Props to the writer who came up with that!

His story deserves love. There are flaws, but it definitely far better written than most. Plus, it's finished, so it's instantly superior to those that run for an eternity.

His story deserves love. There are flaws, but it definitely far better written than most. Plus, it's finished, so it's instantly superior to those that run for an eternity.
This is not a 'promoting random stories' thread.

[JP, Brom Bones] Wataru Hatano (Gajeel Redfox, Fairy Tail)

    Parameters
    • Strength: D
    • Endurance: C
    • Agility: B/B+ (Rank Up via the effects of Relentless Pursuer)
    • Mana: C
    • Luck: E
    • Noble Phantasm: B

    Class Skills

    Magic Resistance
Grants protection against magical effects. Differing from the Resistance effect that merely rejects Magical Energy, this ability cancels the spells altogether.
    • D: Cancels Single-Action spells. Magic Resistance of the same degree of an amulet that rejects magical energy.

    Riding
The ability to ride mounts and vehicles. Rider-class Servants will typically possess a high rank. It is said that dragon type mounts are an exception, requiring a different ability other than Riding.
    • B++: Most vehicles and animals can be handled with above average skill, even vehicles that did not exist in the time period one was alive in, for they are no exception. However, cannot ride the likes of Phantasmal Species such as Monstrous Beasts. Double Rank Up in the case of horses or horse-like creatures, allowing Rider to ride even Phantasmal Beasts if they are equine in physiology.

    Personal Skills

    Fearsome Mien
The ability to cause fear with a nigh-supernatural aura of terror around one’s self. This Skill can be turned on and off at will. Can be mitigated or outright negated by the Valour Skill.
    • B+: One’s mere presence alone is unnerving. Ranked Up if engaged in in pursuit.

    Instinct
The ability to instantly identify “the best personal course of action” during combat. Because this Skill allows for the prediction of trajectory, it is possible to avoid attacks from firearms.
    • B: Through this ability, it is possible to halve the penalties inflicted by visual and auditory interference. (As its famous moniker indicates, Rider is indeed without a head, including facial features such as eyes. Instead, a supernatural ‘sight’ s achieved through the use of Instinct. This gives Rider a better sense of spatial awareness and the ability to see outlines and feel the movement of people or objects, but not visualise specific details (such as sign language or visual cues).)

    Murder on a Misty Night
A Skill associated with the Servant's nature as a serial killer rather than as an assassin, which permits a pre-emptive strike against all opponents.
    • B+: Luck Checks for successful pre-emptive strikes have an increased success ratio. Ranks Up the effects to an assured critical “first hit” if a successful flank attack is executed whilst on horseback.

    Relentless Pursuer
The ability to unrelentingly chase after a target, bolstering their own speed through sheer will to catch up to their target.
    • A: At this rank, one’s zeal for the chase cannot be quelled. Ranks Up Agility if one is pursuing a specific target with singular focus, so long as they remain within one’s line of sight.

    Noble Phantasms

    The Brains and the Brawn
    The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
    Rank: C+
    Type: Anti-Unit [Self]

Strapped to Rider’s back at all times are two Jack-o-Lanterns, each one with a face carved into it, emanating flames from the mouths and eyes. These pumpkins are in truth vessels for the Heroic Spirits summoned into the form of the Headless Horseman: Ichabod Crane and Brom Bones. By placing one of these two pumpkins atop of its neck, Rider can cast a glamour effect upon himself: his physical appearance taking on that of whoever’s ‘head’ he is currently wearing, and allowing that personality some extent of control as opposed to just being a tagalong. It can also take the head back off to restore its true, combat-capable form. While under the effects of this glamour, Rider’s Skills and other Noble Phantasms are sealed off, allowing for “Ichabod” or “Brom” to perfectly blend in as ordinary humans.

However, if under the guise of “Ichabod”, Rider gets access to Expert of Many Specialisations at a D-Rank, making research and intel-gathering via the use of institutes such as libraries or schools far more effective. Under the guise of “Brom”, Rider gets a Charisma of D-Rank: not enough to truly be an authoritative figure, but enough to generate a magnetic personality (akin to that of a town darling) to coax information out of friendlier faces.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow’s most useful ability, however, is the way in which it extends Rider’s own lifespan. As a relatively young Heroic Spirit, depending on successful fear-inducing checks and the element of surprise to achieve a victory, Rider would fall fast in prolonged combat with another Servant. What it can instead do, should it receive a mortal blow, is will for one of its two “heads” to take the strike instead. This will wipe the consciousness residing in that pumpkin from the amalgamation, preventing their form from being taken again, but it also detonates in a surge of vibrant, fiery mana. This is equivalent to a B-Rank fire spell; the explosive flash providing a means of escape for Rider, as well las potential retaliatory damage against its would-be assailant.

Such is the fate of the two men of Sleepy Hollow. Their reckless invocation of the Headless Horseman once again being the catalyst to their demise. Once both heads have been lost, this Noble Phantasm is permanently sealed off from Rider.

    Charge of the Blight Brigade
    Hessian’s Horse
    Rank: B
    Type: Anti-Unit

According to popular legend, the Headless Horseman was once a Hessian: a German volunteer soldier for the British Army during the American Revolution. An unlucky cannon shot led to his decapitation and sparked the legend of his headless spectre’s wrath. This Noble Phantasm is the crystallisation of this origin story: providing the Headless Horseman with his iconic steed, a phantasmal, sable-black horse with a smoky mane and burning eyes.

The Hessian’s Horse is as tenacious a steed as its rider is a pursuer. It can run across almost any surface, including along walls, and phase through solid obstacles such as buildings. It can even charge through magical barriers of a B-Rank or lower. However, the Hessian’s Horse cannot cross water in any way or form, even if there is a bridge; complicating the Horseman’s pursuit should one be near, or aware to the location of, a river.

    Ultimate Noble Phantasm

    The Dark, Crooked Rider
    Dullahan
    Rank: A+
    Type: Anti-Unit [Self]

The legend of the Headless Horseman is heavily influenced by other such tales of its kind in Europe; of particular note is the Irish dullahan, a headless rider said to charge the fields of Ireland, armed with a whip crafted from human spines. Some legends even say the Dullahan is an embodiment of the pagan deity Crom Dubh himself. A crooked, dark vassal of death itself.

Should Rider lose both of its heads (Ichabod Crane and Brom Bones), then this Noble Phantasm will automatically activate; releasing the inhibitors on Rider’s powers that the legend of Sleepy Hollow’s influence had placed. It will grow in size and stature, its neck will erupt with pale blue flame and smoke as black as night, the Hessian’s Horse will mutate and grow into a monstrosity of smoke and shadow (no longer impeded by water as a blockade to its travels), and a long whip of human spinal cords will be summoned to replace its cavalry saber. Upon a complete transformation, Rider is now instead a Dullahan in its own right.

The Dullahan’s Parameters are as follows--

    • Strength: B
    • Endurance: B
    • Agility: A/A+ (Rank Up via the effects of Relentless Pursuer)
    • Mana: A
    • Luck: E
    • Noble Phantasm: A+

As a Dullahan, Rider’s Magic Resistance is Ranked Up to an A-Rank, and its Fearsome Mien is Ranked Up to an A+. Now able to match enemy Servants in direct combat, it fights wielding its Spinal Lash: the whip it conjures, equivalent to an A-Rank, Anti-Unit Noble Phantasm. If any creature is entangled in the Spinal Lash then, with failed Luck checks, its body starts to decompose and rot away; draining its mana reserves and pumping them into the whip itself. The more mana absorbed into Spinal Lash, the faster its necrosis effect occurs. It also boasts a regenerative ability on par with that of a Dead Apostle, rendering it an exceptionally difficult beast to land lasting damage on for most Servants.

Yet as impressive as the fury of the Dullahan is, by becoming a Monstrous Beast of sorts, Rider makes itself vulnerable to all the weaknesses that come with it. Large quantities of magically-infused gold can repel it away, and it is now highly vulnerable to holy weapons or Skills and Noble Phantasms relating to monster-slaying. The sheer amount of mana that the Dullahan also continues to take from its Master, in spite of its own impressive reserves, are also potentially enough to kill weaker Mages and significantly tire out stronger Masters faster.

    Lore

Rider's true identity is none other than the Headless Horseman of American literary fame. However, more specifically, it is an amalgamated Heroic Spirit of the book's two central characters: Ichabod Crane and Brom Bones. In addition, there also seems to be overlap with a far older legend than even that...

The school teacher and the town hero. Two men of equally degenerate and lecherous ambitions both had their eyes on the same woman: Katrina Von Tassel, daughter of the wealthiest man in town. Both saw a quick opportunity to get rich and have a trophy to parade. Only problem? Each other. That's when Bones came up with a truly terrible idea; an old superstition he had heard, about a headless horseman on a pitch-black horse.

He "brought the legend to life", and ran a terrified Ichabod Crane out of town. With him out of the way, he went on to marry Karina, inherit her father's fortune... and squalor it with shameless hedonism. It was a loveless seven year marriage. No children were ever born from it. The couple even slept in separate beds.

As for Ichabod? Such a traumatic shock was so great that he just kept on running. And running. And running. He tried to start a new life in a new town. But every time he finally settled, nightmarish vision of that hellish horseman would strike. It took him seven years to finally piece together what had happened. And that caused him to snap. So he took his crippling phobia of the urban legend and weaponised it. He now donned the guise of "the Headless Horseman" and rode back to his home town. He found Brom, in a drunken stupor, having lost his sway home.

But as one false Horseman pursued the other, hellbent on retribution, neither noticed a sable stallion galloping towards them. The crack of a bone whip. The hellish flicker of lit flame.

Not until they were already dead, at least.

    Personality

Rider is a being of very few words and is excellent at hiding its next move. The complete and utter lack of a head certainly helps with this. It is truly reminiscent of a slasher movie villain in many ways. Driven only by the single-minded focus to kill. To chase down. To inflict terror onto anyone it meets. After all, that was why its legend was crafted. To scare people’s pants off and fill their night with images of terror. It prides itself on its professionalism as an emissary of dread.

… which is more than it could say (if it had a mouth of its own) about the two “stowaways” so attached to his being at a conceptual level that they hopped on board for the ride.

Ichabod Crane prides himself on being an upstanding gentleman. Well-educated and eloquent, he has a knack for peppering his sentences with archaic vocabulary and a lack of conjunctions in his sentences. However, it should also be noted he is, as one might say, a creep. His predatory advances on Katrina were in equal parts a lust for her beauty and youth, and gold-digging fantasies of inheriting her father’s vast wealth. He is a fundamentally selfish and self-righteous blowhard who’ll brush over any criticisms you throw about his personal conduct, and somehow twist it back around to accuse you of being in the wrong.

Brom Bones is very much your classic jock. Loud. Cocky. Boisterous with a penchant for physical resolutions to his problems. He likes to drink, he likes to wrestle, he is popular with almost anyone he meets for his ability to say just the right thing to flatter anyone. His way of speaking is more crass and informal, casual and relaxed, than Crane’s and it is noticeable. He is also, however, just like Crane in his tact towards women. Opportunistic, lustful and money-hungry, he is a hedonist with no respect towards any authority of others. Let alone “women’s rights”, whatever THOSE are.

And naturally, these two rivals in “love” and war… i absolutely hate each other. Always butting heads and throwing barbs. It’s a downright farce to behold as these two pumpkin heads try to squash one another. Fortunately, one activation of Rider’s Fearsome Mein is usually enough to shut them up for a good while.

Their wish upon the Holy Grail would be to see the other humiliated and shamed and themselves with Katrina held “lovingly” on his lap. Surrounded by dear old daddy’s fat piles of cash. As for Rider, the Horseman itself? What it wishes, let’s hope we never have to find out...

    Relationships

Gilgamesh: For some peculiar reason, Rider itself is known to wince and recoil a little at the sight of the gaudily-clad King of Heroes…
Headless Rider: [Brom Bones] “W-WAIT, HOLY SHIT, HE’S REAL?! … AND A SHE!?”
[Ichabod] I cannot tell a lie; I am afflicted by a tumultuous conflict of interest at this very moment. No head… but those thighs..”
[Brom] “Those are HORSE-RIDING thighs there… Yeah, I’d tap that.”
Edgar Allan Poe: [Brom] “Quote the raven nevermore; we only needed ONE STORY to be better than you!”
[Ichabod] “Brom, stop antagonising a literary icon! My sincerest apologies for my... “
    [Brom] “Better half?”
[Ichabod] “-malignant ignoramus of a compatriot’s tactlessness.”
Any Female Servant with Golden Rule: Ichabod and Borm proceed to argue with one another endlessly for who gets “the privilege”.
Ichabod Crane and Brom Bones (to each other): “You’re nothing, without me~! A no one who’d go ondefiiiiiiiined~”

Headless Horseman: A good Halloween Servant. Making him an amalgamation of Crane, Bones, the horseman, and the dullahan is a creative take I've never seen before, and I really enjoyed his personality (that line towards the headless Rider is pretty humorous in particular).

I was going to post this on the contest thread, but ended up missing the deadline. Given what we saw in the latest Gudaguda event, I figured that this guy probably wouldn't get another opportunity to appear, so here goes nothing.

    Shinsengumi

A special police force established by the Tokugawa shogunate in the late years of the Edo period. Its main duties were to patrol Kyoto and provide protection to government officials in the imperial capital. Although greatly romanticized in modern fiction, the Shinsengumi was a source of controversy during its own time due to (among other things) welcoming any qualified applicants within its ranks, regardless of their background. As a matter of fact, while most of its prominent members descended from traditional samurai families, some originated from the common masses and there were even a few whose lineage could not be verified.

In a way, the roots of the organization could be traced back to the Perry Expedition and the arrival of the Black Ships on Japan. The forceful opening of international relations by a Western power resulted in much socio-political unrest within the country – especially in the imperial capital. Fearing that the standard police would eventually be overwhelmed by the ever-increasing political activists and insurgents, the government decided to adopt the proposal of a minor government official named Kiyokawa Hachirou: to enlist the many ronin spread across Japan into an emergency task force to deal with the situation. However, despite working for the government, Hachirou also operated as a revolutionary in secret. Strongly aligned with the Sonnou Joui ideology, he schemed to turn the ronin that he gathered into the personal army of the Japanese Emperor.

When the plot came to light, Hachirou was dismissed from office and the ronin that he had gathered disbanded. Still, a small number among those would remain in Kyoto and form a volunteer squad in an attempt to fulfill the task they had originally enlisted for. Stationed in Mibu, a small village located in the outskirts of the capital, that volunteer squad became known as the Miburou (ronin of Mibu). Later, after securing the patronage of a certain important political figure, they were formally installed as the Shinsengumi.

    Dharmapala

Meaning "defender of Dharma (law)" in Sanskrit. A category of guardian deities from Buddhism. They are usually portrayed as wrathful existences, which supposedly represents their constant readiness to protect Buddhist believers. Due to this, the dharmapala are sometimes regarded in the same light as the buddhas and bodhisattvas that work for the sake of human salvation (although Buddhist views accept that gods and the likes are superior existences, they are still beings trapped within the cycle of transmigration (samsara), and thus rank lower than a buddha that reached nirvana and became free of it).

Although the term "deity" is being used here, this classification also contains existences usually regarded as antagonistic to the gods, such as yakshas and asuras. This is believed to be a result of the characters from Hindu Mythology being altogether reinterpreted as supporters of Buddhism during their incorporation into the new religious system. Furthermore, Buddhism has the peculiar trait as a religion of adjusting・accommodating its symbols and images of worship to the native culture, local customs of a newly-introduced land. Under such conditions, it is not uncommon for preexisting heroes and other mythological figures to end up being regarded as dharmapala as well. Japan has a particular variation of this phenomenon (called "shinbutsu shuugou" or "honji suijaku") in which the indigenous gods were retroactively evaluated as manifestations (gongen) of some Buddhist entity.

    CLASS SKILLS

    Magic Resistance: D

The capacity to negate or abate the effects of magecraft. Negates magecraft employed by means of single action. About the degree of an amulet that repels magic power. In case a magus that possesses a somewhat strong ability, it may be possible to easily breakthrough this.

    True Name Exposure: C

A special trait of the “Ruler” Class. Instantly grasps all the information – such as True Name・skills・Noble Phantasm – regarding a Servant one has directly encountered. What can be grasped is only the information as a Servant, so the thoughts, ideologies and personal circumstances of the targeted Servant are not covered by this. Also, a LCK check is required in regards to Servants with camouflage abilities – such as skills and Noble Phantasms that conceal the True Name.

    Divine Decision: E
The greatest privilege of the Ruler Class. The right to enforce Command Spells on all Servants summoned for the Holy Grail War. At E Rank, one has only a single Command Spell that he can use.

    if a Saber

    Riding: C
The technical skill to mount on vehicles. It also displays its effects on mechanized vehicles. So long it is an animal that has been properly trained, a machine that has been properly adjusted, he can ride them flawlessly. Also, as far as machines go, modern conveyances can also be handled.

    PERSONAL SKILLS

    Aggregate Martial Arts: B
By means of cultivated combat techniques that cover a lot of ground, it is possible to cope with all kinds of combat conditions. Even uncommon battles (such as midair and underwater combat) or unknown・unfamiliar circumstances are promptly dealt with by making use of the cultivated techniques and experience.

Maybe this is something to be expected of a survivor of the Bakumatsu, but the sword skills that he refined during his time in the Shinsengumi remained effective even in the Meiji period, when modern firearms started to become widespread.

    Anti-Evil: C
Improved efficacy against those classified as “wicked”. In his case, it applies to those who deviated from the proper reason as humans; lawbreakers that can be described as “social evils”.

A skill derived from the creed that he followed his entire life – “aku・soku・zan (evildoers must be cut down swiftly)”.

    Secret Intelligence: D
This skill does not conceal one's presence, but rather makes so that said presence itself does not feel like that of an opponent. Basically, it causes the enemy to misunderstand the user as some kind or harmless existence. However, this skill loses its effects as soon as a direct attack is made. It also denotes how much of a strong trust one can acquire after infiltrating the enemy camp. At D Rank, one is suited for covert operations.

In terms of technical proficiency alone, he is actually a competent spy. However, performance is somewhat hindered by his Taciturn skill, so one could say that his personality simply isn’t suited for this kind of job.

    Single-Mindedness: A+
Superhuman powers of concentration is displayed by immersing oneself in a single matter. This skill applies plus modifiers to all actions whenever he engages with his subject of interest. Furthermore, upon reaching A Rank, it also begins to represent the absoluteness of the mind, improving resistance against related abnormal conditions.

In his case, it concerns to his vocation as a police officer.

    Taciturn: B
Saying too little. A minus skill. Due to either impairment of communication skills or simply an unfriendly personality, one cannot connect well with others. Decreases the chances of success for social interactions.

    Weapons

    Kijinmaru Kunishige
Saitou Hajime's favorite blade. A sharp sword forged by Sesshujuu Ikeda, an illustrious swordsmith from the Edo period. Supposedly employed during the Ikedaya Incidenct, its spiritual rank is relatively high thanks to being related to a famous episode in Japanese history.

    NOBLE PHANTASM

    Makoto – Flag of Truth
    Rank:
    B (B++ under certain circumstances)
    Type:
    Anti-Army
A single flag that displays the kanji of “makoto” (truth), which the members of the Shinsengumi carved in their hearts. A symbol of their conviction and an evidence of their lives.

Once the True Name is invoked, the Shinsengumi regimental soldiers that once gathered under this flag will be summoned within a given range of space. Those soldiers will all manifest as independent Servants possessing the skill Independent Action with a grade of E- Rank, being capable of fighting without a Master for a short while. Furthermore, although they will not be endowed with any Noble Phantasm, some among them can employ sword techniques that reached the level of magic swords, so their overall attack power is high.

Incidentally, this Noble Phantasm is possessed by all the leading officers of the Shinsengumi. While its effects remain the same, it has a peculiar property of changing which specific lineup of Shinsengumi regimental soldiers will be summoned in accordance to the personality and mental image of the user. Saitou is aware of his lack of popularity within the organization and believes that nobody would come out even if he were to activate this Noble Phantasm, but...

...that is not actually the case. While it was indeed true that most of the other members were not very fond of him, they all trusted his character・integrity. There was an unspoken, unanimous agreement within the organization that “Saitou Hajime will always choose to fight for a just cause”. Therefore, he is actually one of the few who can possibly summon all of the Shinsengumi regimental soldiers.

Gohou ZenshinMiburou – Sacred TaskLaw Enforcement
    Rank:
    EX
    Type:
    Anti-Unit (self)
Heroic Spirit Saitou’s last resort. The sublimation of a possibility that was not realized in his lifetime. A Noble Phantasm whose existence not even he himself is aware of.

The human called Saitou Hajime devoted his whole life to the enforcement of the law. This single-minded dedication have already surpassed even the likes of simple fanaticismzealotry and reached the level of a spiritual enlightenment of sorts. But since Saitou himself never became self-aware of it, he failed to achieve a clear answer and reach nirvana, ultimately dying in a state that was just one step short of buddhahood. Still, putting on another way, that can be addressed once he obtains said clear answer.

Spiritual ascension achieved only when specific conditions are met. Once this Noble Phantasm is activated, Saito will transform into an existence extremely close to a bodhisattva. Other than a major boost of overall parameters, he will also become endowed with an ability falsely similar to Enlightenment of the Bodhi Tree. A limited buddha-mode that makes him virtually invincible, but since the Saint Graph of an ordinary Servant cannot fully contain the spiritual core of a bodhisattva, he will end up self-destructing soon enough.

    Background

    BACKGROUND

Saitou Hajime (1844~1915). A swordsman from the late Edo period, he is famous for having served in the Shinsengumi regiment as the captain of its third unit. Also, one of its few members who survived the turbulent times of the Bakumatsu.

Born in Edo (modern day Tokyo) as the third child of Yamaguchi Yosuke, a minor vassal of the Tokugawa shogunate, he was originally named Yamaguchi Hajime. When he was 19 years-old, Hajime got into a fight with a member of a prestigious samurai family, killing him. This would force his father Yosuke to send him away in exile in order to avoid further troubles. Hajime would then be taken in by a friend of the family and move to Kyoto. It is believed that he changed his family name to Saitou around this time.

Saitou worked as an assistant instructor of kenjutsu while in Kyoto and, probably through this, would become acquainted with Kondou Isami, future commander of the Shinsengumi (although details are scarce, there are records of Saitou commuting to the doujou were Kondou taught the Tennen Rishin-ryuu). Through this connection, Saitou was invited into the Miburou, becoming one of its founding members. When the organization was formally established as the Shinsengumi, Saitou was selected to be part of its executive staff and later bestowed with command over the third unit.

An archetypal straight-laced person, he was often described as “not predisposed to small talk”. Always carrying out his duties with diligence and strictness, that solemnity earned him the trust of the top brass such Kondo and Hijikata Toshizou, who often elected to have Saito attend them at important businesses such as meetings and the likes. However, this inflexibility put Saitou at odds with most of the other members of the Shinsengumi, turning him into a black sheep. The fact that he was in charge of internal affairs duties – maintaining discipline and routing out dissidents in the organization – also didn’t improve his standing.

Incidentally, although no official records that corroborate this exist, there are tales of Saitou working as a secret agent of sorts for the top brass – spying and eliminating important targets.

With the outbreak of the Boshin War, Saitou took the side of the Tokugawa shogunate along with the other Shinsengumi. He kept fighting valiantly even as the state of the war continued to deteriorate and his comrades died one after the other. However, things changed at some point. Parting ways with the remnants of the Shinsengumi led by Hijikata after the Battle of Bonari Pass, he completely withdrew from the war. Although temporarily arrested by new Imperial government as a prisoner of war, he was eventually released and allowed to return to civilian life.

After the war, Saitou changed his name to Fujita Gorou and got around to acclimating himself to life under the Meiji government. Moving back to his old hometown, he joined what would later become the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department and spent the rest of his days working as a police officer. In time, he got married, had children and eventually died at the age of 72 years old from stomach ulcer. According to some anecdotes, he was sitting perfectly upright in seiza-style when he drew his last breath. Straight-laced even in death.

    Peerless Sword

In life, Saitou was regarded as one of the strongest swordsmen of the Shinsengumi, rivaling geniuses of the sword such as Okita Souji and Nagakura Shinpachi. In fact, Nagakura himself once commented that “Okita had the sword of a warrior, while Saitou a peerless sword”. That being said, nobody can say for certain which style he practiced. Although both the Ittou-ryuu and the Mugai-ryuu can be raised as likely candidates, there is no conclusive proof in the end.

This work regards that Saitou possessed a completely self-taught style of swordsmanship, devised by taking in the strong points of several different styles that he encountered throughout his life. To begin with, Saitou was never very mindful about proper form and tradition in regards to swordsmanship. Instead, he put much more emphasis on the “feelings” imbued on one’s sword.

As an extension of his straight-laced nature, Saitou prized a society properly regulated by law. Naturally, he held those that disturbed said society in contempt and believed they ought to be removed with extreme prejudice. His whole life was dedicated to simply the fulfillment of that conviction.

Objectively speaking, while Saitou’s swordsmanship is indeed excellent, that alone would not have been enough to elevate him to the status of a “hero”. What is truly outstanding about him is the strength of his conviction. The capacity to stick to his beliefs at all times, in all circumstances. No matter what happened, Saitou’s determination would never falter and he would never yield to anyone. As such, the blade that was imbued with those feelings was invincible (peerless).

In the end, the man called Saitou Hajime could be regarded as a pinnacle that any ordinary man could achieve by following his beliefs through and through. This stands in stark contrast with Okita Souji, the genius of the sword who, despite achieving superhuman degree of skill, never brought personal feelings into the battlefield (never found a proper reason to fight).

On a more serious note, I like it! Only the "boddhisatva mode" seems a bit of an exaggeration.

Honestly, while perhaps the "buddha mode" might, on paper, seem a stretch, I then rmember that this is a compatible Ruler-Class Servant so it'd make sense that he have a Noble Phantasm of such power to come with the "sainthood" of it. I like this sheet a lot all in all!

"In this world, you're either those who take or those who get taken from. If you summoned me, I presume you're not mere livestock simply content to be taken from. No, you'll kick, scream and claw like Hell for a single fleeting glimpse at the light denied to you... truly, that is what it means to be 'human'.

...Now then, shall we take back everything from those bastards?"

    Servant Avenger:

    Appearance:

True Name: Sinan Reis "The Great Jew"

    Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

    Alternate Class: Rider

    Armaments: Saber and musket.

    Strength- C
    Agility- B
    Endurance- A
    Mana- C
    Luck- B
    NP- C+

    Personality
Boisterous and vulgar, Avenger acts like the typical image of a pirate most of the time. He laughs and jokes freely even in the middle of battle, giving the impression he doesn't take anything seriously. However, Avenger's humor belies a far more cold and cynical side to his personality. He tends to crack dark jokes, and shows a cruel streak when angered, often devising ironic punishments for his foes. When it comes to heretic-hunters who burned sinners alive, Avenger shows particular delight incinerating them in the same flames that consumed their victims. He'll even mockingly ask if they still feel burning alive is such a 'holy' death when they themselves are facing it.

These traits stem from Avenger's past trauma, where many of his fellow Jews were burned to death during the Inquisition and the survivors were forced to flee Spain in exile. That event lead Avenger to abandoning his faith in the goodness of the world, and adopting a jaded outlook. He believes that the only way to gain anything is by taking it with your own hands, and the promise of a paradise where everyone can be happy is just a fairy-tale told by those too weak to accept reality's harshness.

For that reason Avenger became a pirate, wishing to bring his people to prosperity by plundering from those who wronged them- in other words, his former country. However he'll adamantly deny that reasoning if asked. To Avenger, he's not some champion of his people righting wrongs and bringing justice on their oppressors. He's just a common man, willing to dirty his hands to survive. There's nothing so noble about killing and stealing regardless of who benefits from it. Even so, Avenger undeniably cares deeply for his siblings in faith and will risk his own wellbeing to keep them safe. He makes a show of being the kind of person who won't go out of his way to help his fellow man, but actually is fiercely loyal and protective to those he recognizes as his own. Avenger would gladly burn the whole world to ashes to save just one person precious to him.

Despite his seemingly amoral nature Avenger does in fact have some very strong principles and beliefs. He strongly upholds that an individual should strive to improve their circumstances by whatever it takes, even if it means resorting to piracy and murder. Conversely, Avenger detests those who are so passive and forgiving that they'll merely accept all the hardships put before them, likening such people to little more than livestock. Ultimately, Avenger's life-philosophy is born from his own recognition of the world's cruelties through the persecutions endured by his people. He didn't want to become a pirate or betray the country he once called home, but if the alternative was simply laying back and watching his culture, pride and faith be trampled upon, he could never accept that. For the sake of those close to him, he would even become a demon.

    Likes: freedom, fellow Jews, revenge
Dislikes: selfrighteous hypocrites, passive people, Spanish
    Talent: piracy
    Natural Enemy: Emperor Charles

    Class Skills:

    Avenger- C
Expresses the nature of an Avenger as one who piles up the grudges and hatreds of others upon themselves. It becomes easier to accumulate hatred and resentment, while negative emotions directed at the user are instantly converted into strength. Furthermore, the rate of Mana generation becomes higher when taking damage. While reviled as a demon by the Spaniards, Sinan was revered as a hero by his fellow Jews for taking back what was stolen from them. As such his rank in this Skill isn't as high as other Avengers who earned the enmity of the whole world.

    Oblivion Correction- B
People are creatures who forget many things, but an Avenger never forgets. This single-minded determination to cling on to one's past grudges greatly boosts the damage dealt by critical strikes in battle. The despair of being kicked from his homecountry. The humiliation of being spat on by those who had the audacity to call themselves compassionate men of God. The horror he felt when his brothers and sisters in faith were slaughtered. Avenger couldn't simply forget those things, carving the anguish and sorrow of his people into his heart and vowing to never cease his fight until the atrocities inflicted upon them were paid back in full.

    Self-Replenishment (Mana)- D+
A Skill where one's magical energy endlessly surges forth until their revenge is accomplished. Recovers a miniscule amount of magical energy every turn. Through his Grudge Of The Dispossessed Personal Skill, Avenger can supplement the Mana regained through this Skill by forcibly plundering it from his opponent, provided they fulfill the conditions for being a target of his people's hatred and resentment.

    Personal Skills:

    Voyager Of The Storm- B
The talent to sail vessels recognized as ships. Because capability as a group leader is included this Skill also comprises an equal rank in Charisma and Military Tactics. Avenger was a famous pirate who terrorized the Spanish on the high seas, and even served under the great pirate-king Barbarossa himself. As such he boasts a high rank in this Skill.

    Innocent Monster- C
An attribute possessed by Servants whose true history and existence have been distorted by the monstrous reputations and gossips they accrued across the course of their life and thereafter, without concern for the actual person's will or appearance. As a consequence, the Servant's abilities and appearance have been rendered to conform to the specifications of their legend.

Avenger was such a gifted navigator that he was often rumored to wield black magic. This Skill has been further bolstered by the
    Blood Libel
    malignant rumors
directed at his people, who were often alleged to worship devils and indulge in gruesome rituals. Avenger has willfully embraced these legends to fuel the image of terror he instilled in the minds of the Spanish, becoming as a demon out of Hell.

This Skill results in Avenger obtaining the visage of an "
    Guardian Demon
    Avenging Angel
" who exists to protect his people while dragging his foes to Hell. Upon entering battle feathery wings of hellfire bloom from his upper back, while his skin blackens like ash, reflecting the fate of being burnt at the stake that many of his fellow Jews shared. White-crimson fire further alights to wrap any weapon Avenger wields, adding a constant Mana Burst (Flames) attribute to his strikes. While terrifying to his foes, his presence is reassuring to those on Avenger's side, instinctively seeing him as a guardian angel who will protect them.

This further donates Avenger the effects of Witchcraft and Kabbalah both at rank C, letting him cast spells and summon minor Solemonic demons to aid him. The dual nature of the Seal of Solomon as an icon of the Jewish faith as well as a pentagram to bind demons serves to unify the two halves of Avenger's identity.

    Grudge Of The Dispossessed- B+
A unique Skill that reflects the Servant's burning drive to take back what they feel was stripped of themselves and their people. Avenger became a pirate not out of greed or lust for riches but a simple desire for vengeance against those who robbed his people of everything, even their land and very lives. As a Servant his attacks carry the resentment of a people denied their rightful heritage, and the yearning to reclaim what was once theirs. In practice when the opponent is one Avenger recognizes as a target of his hatred (namely Spaniards, Christians and all antisemites) every strike he lands will plunder a portion of their magical energy, literally taking back what was stolen from him by force.

    Noble Phantasm
    Auto Da Fe Inverso
    Inverted Judgment Of Apostasy

    Rank: C+

    Type: Anti-Unit

"What a joke, to think you'll fall screaming into Gehenna in the same flames you roasted my brothers and sisters in. Then again I guess the humor depends on where you're standing from, huh? Now then, let's bring the closing act to this farce. Auto Da Fe... Inverso!"

After Avenger and his fellow Jews were expelled from Spain during the Inquisition, he took to piracy on the high seas, seeking vengeance by plundering the ships of the nation that scorned him. That vow crystallizes into Avenger's Noble Phantasm. Named after the "
    Auto Da Fe
    Act of Faith
" where condemned heretics were burnt at the stake to expiate their sins, that many innocent Jews suffered during the Spanish Inquisition, it allows Avenger to recreate that very judgment upon his foes.

Upon invocation Avenger summons a massive pirateship that emerges from the space behind him, bristling with cannons and sporting a billowing mast emblazoned with a Jewish Seal of Solomon symbol (a six-pointed star). At Avenger's command the ship opens fire with its many cannons, raining hellfire upon his foes. Ostensibly a manifestation of the holy fire that scorches the flesh of sinners in Christian mythology, it's been reinterpreted by Avenger into a judgment on those who persecuted him and his people.

The more anecdotes the opponent has of exploiting・subjugating those of another culture or ethnicity the further this Noble Phantasm's destructive power rises, scourging their souls with all the innocent blood they spilt. As a finishing move all the cannons unleash their payload in unison for a final shot that explodes in the shape of a giant Solomonic Seal made of flames, thoroughly obliterating the enemy.

The hail of cannonfire that comprises this Noble Phantasm is capable of mowing down an entire enemy formation at once. Nevertheless, Auto Da Fe Inverso qualifies as an Anti-Unit Noble Phantasm for the reason that it enforces a sentence of "judgment" separately on each and every individual targeted by its effects.

So I've been reading about the history of Jewish pirates lately and felt inspired to write up this sheet. As usual, comments and critiques would be welcome. Thanks for reading!

Sinan Reis: I always love when a Servant sheet educates me on a new historical figure and the history of Jewish piracy is definitely not something I've had much exposure to before. But now? I absolutely have to dive into it more! This sheet looks pretty darn solid to me. Love the implementation of the Avenging Angel as a concept in both his unique spin on Innocent Monster, and his Noble Phantasm. Sorta reminds me a bit of the Ghost Rider's Penance Stare in how it also weaponizes his opponents' past transgressions to empower its effects. A rad concept all in all!

Now... I want to offer a slightly unorthodox build to the table; this is actually taken from an old fanfic concept of mine.

    True Form

    True Name: Grigori Rasputin
    Gender: Male
    Other Qualifying Classes: N/A
    Title: The Mad Monk
Armament: A seemingly endless supply of Black Keys.
    Alignment: Neutral Evil
    Country of Origin: Russia
    Source: Historical Record
Likes: The Romanovs (most of them), faith
Dislikes: War, being near large bodies of water, watching eggs be cracked
    Talents: Healing, hedonism
    Natural Enemies: Nicholas II
CV: [EN] Fred Tatasciore (Nikolai Belinski, Call of Duty: Black Ops II)
[JP] Jōji Nakata (Kotomine Kirei, Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works [2015])

    Parameters
    • Strength: C+
    • Endurance: B+
    • Agility: D+
    • Mana: B
    • Luck: E
    • Noble Phantasm: A

    Class Skills

    Item Construction
A Caster-class Skill. It is the Skill to manufacture magical items, from implements of war to items for daily use. Also, this Skill requires time to gather components and manufacture items
    • C: Can create medicines able to treat and off-medical conditions as serious as haemophilia.

    Workshop Creation
A Caster-class Skill. It is the Skill to build a special terrain that is advantageous to oneself as a magus, such as for the purpose of collecting mana.
    • B: Creation of a "Workshop" becomes possible.

    Personal Skills

    Innocent Monster
An attribute possessed by Servants whose true history and existence have been distorted by the monstrous reputations and gossips they accrued across the course of their life and thereafter, without concern for the actual person's will or appearance. As a consequence, the Servant's abilities and appearance have been rendered to conform to the specifications of their legend. Incidentally, this Personal Skill cannot be removed.
    • A: In the eyes of the Russian people, Grigori Rasputin was “a devil in human form”. A bewitching, inhuman presence whose shadow corrupted the Imperial family even further. Who regularly took the body of the Tsarina and even her daughters for his own pleasure. Some even believed him to be inhuman: caricaturing him as some sort of vampire. In truth, Caster was little more than a shamelessly proud, but religiously devout, hedonist capable of great empathy and compassion for children. Combined with the extraordinary account of his death as well as subsequent characterisations of him as a wizard, a warlock and even a lich, his Star Graph has ended up amalgamated with another infamous figure from Russian lore...

    Mystic Eyes
A Skill where one has possession of Mystic Eyes, capable of imparting magical effects upon a subject and interfering with the outside world
    • A: Possesses Mystic Eyes of Enchantment, an ability typically only seen in races such as vampires (likely Ranked Up because of Caster’s Innocent Monster Skill). Gazing directly into Caster’s produces a high level hypnotic effect that charms the soul with varying effects of charm or terror. (It is said Caster’s gaze had a powerful, hypnotic effect that even permeates photographs taken of him looked at by some modern spectators.)

    Sacraments
A Skill denoting the knowledge of Church Sacraments.
    • B: Capable of exorcisms, healing, protective blessings and other standard abilities expected of an Executor.

    Magecraft & Witchcraft
The ability to cast two different schools of Magecraft: modern Thaumaturgy and Witchcraft.
    • C+: Due to the unique circumstances of the Graph that constructs Caster’s being, he is not as talented in both of these schools as he would be if specialising in one or the other. However, he is capable of using both effectively enough in combat: typically preferring to combine Self-Reinforcement Magecraft with mid-tier elemental Witchcraft (focusing mainly on ice, snow and the manipulation of shadows), for a unique experience from fighting most Casters. Effectiveness of his spells Rank Up if performing healing spells.

    Noble Phantasms

The False True King of Russia
    Tsar' iz Teni
    King from the Shadows
    Type: Anti-Mind
    Rank: B+

A popular narrative spread amongst the people of Russia was that Grigori Rasputin was influencing and machinating the Russian royal family from behind closed doors; ruling as “the true Tsar of Russia” over a weak-willed Nicholas II. The actual influence Caster exerted politically, however, is wildly exaggerated. He had been a staunch opponent of Russia’s involvement in the Great War as a prime example. Yet this myth of his supernatural control perpetuates, manifesting in the form of Tsar’ iz Teni--the crystallization of “the dark Tsar of Russia” as a concept.

Tsar’ iz Teni most often manifests as an ominous, foreboding aura, visible to the magically astute as a black smoke akin to dry ice, that wraps around Caster. This aura gives him access to the Sadistic Charisma Skill at a rank of B. At this rank, it is suitable for one to lead a country as its king/queen; however, it also leaves them increasingly susceptible to their innermost sadistic impulse leaking out. The longer he taps into this Skill, the more Caster’s personality lapses towards increasingly cruel and immoral behaviour, befitting the dark, sinister reputation surrounding him.

Its most dangerous application as a Noble Phantasm, however, is its ability to “corrupt and blacken” the minds and hearts of those around him. Tsar ‘iz Teni amplifies the effect of his Mystic Eyes even further (the true reason for their A-Rank) to such an extent that it gives Caster the power of Geas. Through Geas, Caster can give commands with a sway and influence akin to that of a Command Seal. With his words and mesmerizing gaze along, Caster can worm his way into the hearts of even kings. His commands are also laced with his own magic to further increase the command’s chances of being successfully carried out. This typically is achieved through a combination of Reinforcement Magecraft and, befitting the name of this Noble Phantasm, Shadow Witchcraft: encasing the individual in a dark miasma that acts as a magical armour, enhancing their abilities. High Ranks in Magic Resistance may grant one ah higher chance of resisting, or outright nullifying, this effect.

    Noble Phantasm #2
    Legend of the Undying
    Koshchey Bessmertnoye
    Koschei the Immortal
    Type: Anti-Unit [Self]
    Rank: A++

The existence of this Noble Phantasm is not so simply as a mere crystallization of one aspect of Caster’s life alone. Rather, the infamous narrative surrounding his death - an inhuman feat of resilience - ended up being further warped and mutated by the myriad of narratives and urban legends of Rasputin’s continued survival and manipulations on world history. Whether as a warlock seeking to summon forth gods of chaos or as an eccentric comic book writer, these legends of the undying Rasputin are so many and so vast in their spread that it has mutated the Heroic Spirit Grigori Rasputin by overlapping his Spirit Graph with that of Koschei. A wizard predating even the first Tsar of Russia, Koschei is a nigh-immortal wizard famed for his villainous role to many a story; rendered unkillable by most means thanks to its severance of the soul from its body, often placed inside of an egg.

Koshchey Bessmertnoye is the reason for Caster’s warped physical appearance and surprisingly remarkable Strength and Endurance as a Caster-class Servant. No longer entirely human, the nerves in his body run as cold as ice; rendering him immune to any physical sensations of any sort. Smell, taste, touch, pain, all are lost to Caster. No matter how grievous his physical wounds, it is only a matter of time before Caster regenerates from them. Severed limbs will regenerate within minutes. Flesh wounds will close in the blink of an eye. Lost organs restored in moments. Even the obliteration of his head would take little more than thirty seconds to respawn and, should his entire body be reduced to nothingness, it will reconstitute itself over the course of a minute, as a cluster of icy never-melting crystals and shadows.

The only way to kill Caster is to destroy his Magical Core, which is separated from his body upon summoning. This Magical Core is instead sealed within an emerald jewelled Fabergé egg: a bitter, ironic reminder of the family whose downfall Caster is held responsible for. Should this egg be broken, then Caster’s Magical Core will cease, and his existence will finally fade. Also, whoever holds onto this egg could hold absolute sway and command over Caster’s actions, superseding any order of even his own Master short of a Command Seal.

    Lore

    Spoiler:
Caster's true identity is none other than Grigori Rasputin, the infamous Mad Monk of Russia widely considered to have been a key player in the downfall of the Romanov Dynasty.

An eccentric Mage of many fleeting interests and hedonistic whims, as well as a former Executor of the Church (known for being "difficult to work with" and "often attempting to incite festivals of debauchery on Church grounds"), Rasputin's eccentric habits and reputable talents as a healer brought him to the imperial court of Tsar Nicholas II and the Tsarina Alexandra of Russia. His specialization in Healing Magecraft allowed him to do what many court physicians could not and manage the Tsarveich Alexei's haemophilia, a grievous medical condition that often threatened the life of the crown prince.

Soon adopted into the highest echelons of Russian society, Rasputin brought with him all the famed debauchery and sensual 'whimsy' he was famed for. The Tsar barely tolerated his presence, mostly due to his gift for healing his son... and supplying him with his fixes, most unbecoming of a King. But Alexandra and the royal children adored him where the rest of the nation hated him or (in the case of many of the women) lusted him. The wandering "Mad Monk" was shown a love and affection he had never expected. While to call him "lover of the Russian Queen" is an exaggeration, for there was never any true records of intimacy between the two, Rasputin did find himself enamoured with the one woman he could never have; deeply and truly in love. Seeing her children as his own.

But then the War. That accursed war Nicholas dragged Russia into. Calamity after calamity befell the nation as the Tsar left to lead its armies from the command room himself. Leaving Alexandra to consult Rasputin, a man with no knowledge on the workings of politics or the "game of thrones", as an advisor. The results were... needless to say, less than ideal.

The people hated him. They vilified him. They accused him fo seducing the Tsarina and her daughters. They accused him of being a worshipper of the Devil. A vampire. And ultimately they killed him in on e of the most infamous murders in world history. And as water filled his lungs in that icy river and the near-deathless Rasputin finally breathed his last, he recalled an old fairy tale he'd heard growing up. About the wizard who would never die so long as his soul remained intact, separate from his body. And gazing upon the fear of the nobles as he kept getting up. Kept trying to survive.

... maybe they were right. Maybe he wasn't all human. Maybe he was Koschei the Deathless, in a way. His soul and lifeline had been the safety of the Romanova family. And he died in the despair of knowing that they were doomed.

    Personality
When one hears the name “Rasputin”, two things come to mind. “Mad Monk devil of a man” or “Ra-ra-Rasputin, Russia’s greatest love machine”. Caster? Is an utter contradiction in how little he resembles both typical expectations. Where in life he could be crude and boorish, as a Servant, he is quiet and withdrawn. Where he was filled with manic energy and a love for drugs, alcohol and all the ladies of high and low society alike, he is unnaturally restrained. His voice rarely lifts above a whisper, making it difficult to hear him sometimes.

Caster is a man wracked with regrets and resentments. Resentment towards the so-called “Tsar” who he was made into a scapegoat for the grievous failings of. Who barely tolerated his presence but would abuse his friendship to indulge in the vices unbecoming of a king in private. And grief for the beautiful Queen who had become his best friend. Her daughters who became like his own daughters; especially “that wild girl”, Anastasia, his personal favourite. And the little prince Alexei, who he dedicated so much of his craft to treating as best he could. The family he’d gained and lost so suddenly, who suffered so terrible a fate… that he was to some extent responsible for.

A former Executor of the Church, Caster is a deeply religious man in spite of his unorthodox practices in life. He never lost his faith in God and still considers it his duty to give sacraments to the dying even in a Holy Grail War. However, he does note that there was “never much humour” among the clergy, which had been a major factor in his distancing and eventual departure from them. On the rare times that Caster is angry. or when his Sadistic Charisma overwhelms his rationale? He explodes into an impassioned fury and zeal that is outright terrifying to behold. An explosive, tempestuous fury truly deserving of “the Mad Monk”.

His wish upon the Holy Grail would simply be to bring them back. Alexandra. Olga. Tatiana. Maria. Anastasia. Alexei. His beloved found family and be together with them. Nicholas, however? He could go rot with the rest of the devils for all Caster cared.

    Relationships
Nicholas II: “You cannot blame me for the wrath of a storm that you created. Only for your impending death in this life will I gladly take responsibility…”
Anastasia Romanova: “Oh, Anastasia. My Anastasia… I am so sorry, dikaya devushka..”
Ivan the Terrible: “Anas...tasia…? Why? WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME?!”
Dietrich Bonhoeffer: “Well. Nice to know they finally allowed people to have a sense of humour after I left.” [In my collaborative works with my friends, Dietrich Bonhoeffer was given the backstory of being a Church Executor himself.]
Peter the Great or Catherine the Great: “...I hope you may one day forgive me for the children… But I will not beg forgiveness for your svinya grandson digging his own grave in the der'mo.”
Pope Alexander VI: “...I was one for indulgence and carnal flesh myself,, but there is such a thing as too much. Krovosmesitel'nyy zver'.”
Kirei Kotomine: “...you are no holy man.”
Gilles de Rais:”We may have both been betrayed and condemned to death by the rich and corrupt for self-benefit… but I NEVER laid a hand on a CHILD!!!
Cain: “Your poor, forsaken wretch. A baying hound cursed to afflict only pain and never love. I will pray for you, regardless... Dasvidaniya.”

"Greeting, oh master. Will you be the lucky man that shall claim my lady's heart as your-" *TWHACK*
"SHUT UP! Anyway, I'm Servant Berserker. Get any funny idea and I'll gut you."

    Class: Berserker
    Alternate Classes: Rider
    True Name: FreyjaThor (Bride)
    Alignment: Chaotic Good
    Origin: Norse Mythology
    Region: Europe
    Attribute: Sky
    Natural Enemy: Loki
Armaments: Her bare fists, Her bridesmaid

    Parameters
    STR: A+

    END: A
    AGI: A
    MAN: A
    LUK: D
    NP: EX

    Class skills

    Mad Enhancement: (C)
The Class Skill that characterizes a Berserker, raising basic parameters and strengthens one's physical abilities in exchange for hindering mental capacities and/or in exchange for their sense of reason. In some cases, it also affects and/or seals away some techniques, Personal Skills, and Noble Phantasms. At this rank, all parameters save Luck and Mana are ranked-up. but Berserker is in a near-constant state of barely pent-up rage ready to explode at the slightest provocation.
The reason? Well, it's obvious anxiety towards her wedding and incoming marriage life. As a Norse goddess who welcomes warrior in Valhalla, it's only obvious that she expresses her frustration through the berserk state of her followers, isn't it?

    Goddess Divine Core: (EX)
A Skill that expresses one being a perfected goddess from birth. A composite Skill that comprises the Skill Divinity, preserves the absoluteness of the mind and the body, repels all mental interference, prevents the body from growth, and prevents the figure from change no matter how much calories are absorbed.
Berserker is one of the Aesir, one of the major deities of Norse mythology, so it only follows that she possesses a perfect and lovely. No matter how many boars she eats in one sitting, she won't ever gain weight.

    Personal skills

    Manifestation of Beauty: (D)
The formidable charismatic nature one has as a Goddess of Beauty. A power to captivate others. Amongst Freija's many domains is beauty, and her own was so intense that many Jotunn tried to make her their wife. Normally, this would be a composite skill (gauge absorption, curse, skill-sealing) with a strong seduction effect as its core, but her constant rage and conscious effort to restrain it has drastically lowered this skill's effects. While she still has a charm-like effect that makes males feel lust for her, she has no control over them otherwise. Why did she try to deliberately get rid of this skill? Well, you would be ticked off too if everybody kept hitting on you.

    Bringer of Life: (A)
A skill derived from one's Authority as a fertility deity. The servant can stimulate the growth of plants at absurd speeds in the ground provided the environment is favorable for it. At high ranks, one can control the plants that sprout from it.
Berserker's variant takes the form of clouds that she can form around herself whose rain makes huge plants sprouts at ludicrous speed. As one who was worshipped as a goddess of fertility by the nordic people, she would normally have a precise and powerful dominion over plants. However, due to the loss of reason caused by her current class, she mostly just make huge trees appear to clobber the opponent with.

    Familiar (Bridesmaid): (C)
What would a bride be without her loyal bridesmaid? When summoned, Berserker manifests along with a beyond adorable young girl who dutifully follows her everywhere she goes. Though the girl has no combat capabilities what-so-ever, he has a natural talent with diplomacy and convincing others that the tall tales she said are true, so Berserker is better off letting her do all the talking. Though she mostly heaps praise on her mistress's great loveliness, she can't help herself from making some lighthearted barbs which the beautiful Berserker sometimes overreact to. Incidentally, the bridesmaid makes a perfect blunt weapon or thrown projectile.

    The False Divine Bride

Freyja's famous necklace that would always decorate her delicate neck... or at least it would if Berserker was indeed Freyja. Instead, 'her' true identity is that of Thor, who Freyja lent her jewelry to for the sake of helping him disguise himself as her. Due to that anecdote, this beautifully ornate Divine Construct whose center is a shining red gem has the constantly active effect of modifying Thor's Saint Graph to be as close's to Freyja as possible. His body is changed into a copy of Freyja's and he loses all abilities that would contradict his disguise. In short, nearly all his powers are gone except for his martial strength, as Freyja is a warrior goddess, and his Authority over Fertility, as the two shares that domain.

Normally, that would be it, but an odd event has come to change it. You see, the tale from which this anecdote comes from, Þrymskviða, is one of the earliest, if not the first, story that makes use of a classic comedy scenario: a male character is forced to disguise himself as a woman so he can infiltrate a location and against all logic, this tactic works. While there a few prior legends of heroes using such a strategy, those events were treated as seriously as everything else in those their lives, while Berserker's attempt was clearly written as buffoonish.

As one the precursor of this literary concept, Berserker's Noble Phantasm has been boosted by it. Specifically, it forces two conventions related to it to occur: "the disguise will fool everyone regardless of its credibility" and "someone will find the disguised man attractive". The first 'rule' takes the form of a passive mental interference that makes others think that there's no way Berserker could be anyone else but Freyja, no matter how out-of-character he acts. Doing things like eating an entire feast by herself, spouting a list of curse words longer than the bible, or slaughtering an entire room of giant would only make one wonder what happened to her to cause her behavior. A high rank of resistance against mental interference is needed to realize the obvious truth. The other convention's effect is simply to give Berserker Freyja's loveliness in the form of Manifestation of Beauty, but his personality prevents him from using it to the fullest.

And while not directly related to her Noble Phantasm, the identity of her so-called familiar is the trickster god Loki, who accompanied Berserker during the tale. It seems that they have modified the Saint Graph of the latter to allow themselves to tag along, though in a near-powerless state. In fact, they may very well be the reason why Berserker has been summoned in such an odd aspect in the first place.

    Mjölnir
Lost Hammer of the Thunder God

    Anti-Self
    Rank: EX
    Range: 0
    Maximum Target: 1

The Divine Construct hammer of the Thunder God Thor said to be the pinnacle of his mythos. Crafted by the dwarf brothers Brokkr and Sindri, Thor used it throughout his various exploits. However, Berserker represents a period when he was on a quest to retrieve his hammer stolen by the Jotnar king Þrym. A such, he does not have access to it most of the time. This Noble Phantasm's nature is thus technically not using the power of the hammer itself, but a replication of Thor retrieving his beloved weapon.

Upon calling this Noble Phantasm's true name, Mjolnir, along with the belt Megingjörð and the gauntlet Járngreipr necessary to wield it, will materialize and automatically equip itself to Berserker. As reclaiming it is equivalent to shedding her disguise as Freyja, doing so will also deactivate Brisingamen's effect of modifying her Saint Graph, which results in her getting back all her divine abilities and losing the manufactured Manifestation of Beauty skill. To her dismay, it doesn't revert her back to her true form. Furthermore, the state requires so much energy output from her master that he can only remain in it for a few seconds at most. After which Brisingamenwill automatically reactivate.

Fortunately, this is more than enough time for Berserker to release either of the two first states of the hammer's power:
    Mjölnir
All-Crushing Hammer of the Thunder God
    and
    Mjölnir
Storm of the Thunder God Roaring with Thunder
. There are very few enemies that can withstand all of the God of Thunder's might, so the short timeframe is generally not a problem. The third state:
    Mjölnir Ragnarök
My Lightning Burial Which Will Resound Across The Dawn
, which would temporarily return the surrounding area to the conditions of Ragnarök, is also usable. But doing so would activate a burial ritual which would either kill Berserker or destroy her identity as Thor, making her lose Mjölnir and stuck in her 'Freija' form forever. Naturally, he would consider the second option to be the worst one by far.

    Lore

Berserker is Thor, the god of thunder, strength, and fertility of Norse Mythology, whose worship surpassed even the King of Gods Odin, summoned under the aspect of when he was disguised as Freyja to get his hammer back from the Jotunn king Þrymr.

It is needless to say that the normally burly and manly Divine Spirit does not like this incarnation at all. Most of his time spent out of combat is him silently seething at everything around him, his bitterness over his condition making him unreasonably hostile over every perceived slight and annoyance. In truth, he's constantly looking for the slightest excuse to go on a rampage to give himself some relief. On the rare times he speaks intelligently, it's to complain about how 'soft' and 'weak-looking" his current form is. This is not helped at all by the fact that his 'bridesmaid' Loki insists on tagging along and rubbing the situation in his face, despite how many beatings the latter get from it.

One of the rare occasions where he's anywhere close to happy is when he's allowed to indulge himself in large feasts and strong drinks. Through one may very well call it 'comfort eating'... Loki sure does.

    Attitude to the Master:
Normally, a proud god like Berserker would have hated the very thought of following a mortal's orders. But she is ready to make a lot of concensions to get rid of his humiliating current state, so he will listen to her master as reasonably as he can. Which translates into often flying off the handle and ignoring them to just release his pent-up rage on the enemy anyway. Otherwise, they are just a necessary evil to deal with.

However, if his master is someone he could recognize as another true warrior, they may yet form a comradeship as they surpass adversity together. But any form of amorous intent would be met with a swift clobering.

Likes: "I like eating pork. But I like beef too. And chicken, and horses, and beer... Arggh, now I'm starving! Bring me somethin' to eat now!"
Dislikes: "If you ever try to flirt with me, I'll crush you."
Wish: "Ain't it obvious? I wish this damn story never even got-"
"Obviously, she wants to spend the rest of her life with you, her adored husband~"
    "LOOOOOKIIIII!"

    Relationship

Astolfo, Chevalier D'Eon:"No, I'm not your goddamn comrade!"

    Skaldi:
"S-Skaldi? What's with that appearance? And what's all that talk about you not being married?"

    Surtr:
"You! Everyone... The world... You'll pay, YOU BASTARD!"

    Simotai:
"Freija, I know you're there! Get out so we can have a talk about this... Don't ignore me, you cheeky brat!"

    Beatrice Flowerchild:
"That power... I see. Come, child. Let me see if you are worthy of that hammer."
A strange calm brought up by happy memories...
