No matter how close to Phantasmal Beast it gets, or how dragon-level its defense is, though, at the end of the day every Pegasus is and always will be just a Monstrous Beast. It's like in Disgaea. You can grind Item World and put a bunch of overpowered specialists in a Rarity 0 Common Sword to make it incredibly awesome compared to all the other Common Swords out there, but it's still a Rank 1 weapon. Bellerphon can control Divine Beasts apparently (assuming mirror moon didn't mistranslate that part) which I thought was mighty impressive. But yeah I have no idea what's with Gen's rank inflation. He needs to put more effort into describing why they are awesome if he's going to make a Noble Phantasm being such and such rank a bloody plot point unto itself.

I have no idea if they talked about it there, I looked at the English status page for Bellerophon, saw "Divine Beast", then looked at the Japanese status page and saw "Beast from the Age of Gods". If there's another reference point it out and I'll look it up, though the script files for the last couple days of Heaven's Feel are a bitch to navigate...

Ogier the Dane was a mighty warrior born in Denmark to the King Geoffroy, the first Christian king of Denmark. Even in his birth, he was considered as an extremely beautiful child. This beauty was what compelled six fairies to descend into his birth-chamber and grant him their blessing as a success both in war and life.
When Charlemagne established his power as the sovereign of the time, time came for Ogier’s father to pay homage to the emperor. At first, Geoffroy refused with a letter of arrogant insults, but after nearly he was nearly defeated by Charlemagne’s troops, Geoffroy surrendered, paid the homage, and even sent the young Ogier to Charlemagne as a hostage.
After the betrayal of his father’s new wife, Ogier entered the servitude of Charlemagne fully, as his vassal and a knight, as a proof of his loyalty and innocence to his father’s crimes. It was during this time that the Saracens attacked the lands, and king Charlemagne, with his troops, was pulled into war. It was in this war that the young Ogier gained fame throughout the ranks of soldiers, ally and enemy alike. He also gained the respect of the leader of the Saracens, Carahau. After many twists and turns the war ended, and Carahau, seeing the gallantry of young Ogier, presented him with his sword, Curtana, before leaving.
Later on, Ogier would go on to do many great deeds and to experience many great tragedies, such as losing his son to the treacherous Charlot. He would be eventually taken to the fairylands by his lover, Morgana Le Fay.

Battle Continuation
The strength of vitality for predicaments. Also, the ability to withdraw from combat and reach allied territory alive after being defeated.

The sword of divine wind.
While not as great as the Peerless Holy Blade or the Sword of Thousand Colors, it is still a sister sword to them and as such, carries the aspect of “unbreakable” in it. Even if the magical energy of Saber is depleted, the sword will not lose its edge that cuts through a normal armor with ease.
However, the true power of this sword lies in its hollow structure and vertical holes at the sides of its blade. Whenever swung, the blade catches, accelerates and releases a torrent of wind that will topple opponents and sent weaker enemies flying away.
Thanks to the divine origin of the blade, the moment the wind enters the blade, it earns the aspect of “Divine Retribution”, and thus, becomes akin to a demonic wind that spreads fear amongst the enemies. Any enemy buffeted by the wind of Curtana must take a check against their magic resistance. If they fail, they are forced to flee the battleground immediately.
Although they share the name, differs from The Sword of Confessed Mercy.
Sauvagine
Title: The Feather on the Scale

Type: Anti-Unit
Range: 1
Maximum Target: 1
A sword that amplifies what it touches.
A weak and fragile sword that looks more like a feather, its true power lies in how it fools the scales of balance. By striking with it any magical attack that is about to be performed, it creates the illusion of the attack having not yet been filled, akin switching the “worth” to that of a feather.
The world fixes this immediately by re-doing that which was supposed to be done, and actually has been done. Thus the attack power of the ability has been doubled for the following strike. The effect can be applied to any spells of offensive kind, but only direct-attack-type Noble Phantasms can and will be affected by Sauvagine.
The sword itself is not meant for direct combat, and will eventually shatter if used too many times against an actual weapon.

A blessing of youth that takes the form of a ring.
A gift from a great fairy queen, the ring is worn by Saber in his right index-finger. This ring is the source of Saber’s youthful vigor and nearly endless stamina, and removing it will make his Personal Skill suffer a rank down.
Once in a day, Saber can activate the stored magical power of the ring in order to heal himself. The ring does not actually heal any wounds suffered by Saber, but rewinds him to the first turn of the battle, which eliminates all the damage he has taken and fatigue he has suffered.
Afterwards, the fairy-ring cannot be used again in 24 hours, in order for it to absorb the ambient mana in the surroundings. A location with more mana will speed up the recovering process of the ring.

The ambidextrous warrior of the river who wounded Achilles.
Asteropaios, born from Pelagon son of river god Axios, is notable for his involvement in the Trojan War, where he was one of the leaders of the Trojan-allied Paeonians.
He was noted for his ambidextrousness, which he had adapted into his fighting style, his greatest usage of this being his technique in throwing two spears at once.
At the battle of the river Scamander, Asteropaios meets the mighty Achilles, whom lost in his wrath, manages to defeat so many warriors that the water becomes choked with corpses. As the two engage in combat, the river’s deity, Xanthos, grants the ambidextrous warrior a blessing, in hopes that it will stop Achilles from further polluting the water. At the climax of the battle, Achilles, clad in godly armor made by Hephaestus, readies the Pelian spear behind his divine bulwark, in response Asteropaios hurls two of his spears at the same instant using his ambidextrous technique, now imbued by the blessing of Xanthos, and manages to bypass all of Achilles divine defences, and hit the Achaean warrior’s forearm, the ashen spear then slightly misses the Paeonian, embedding itself into the riverbank. Asteropaios, reluctant in drawing his sword, attempts to claim the spear that was just recently thrown at him, but finds that Achilles strength has buried it too deep for him to pull out so in a last desperate attempt he tries to break the spear, but fails even there. Achilles, now having managed to close the distance between the two, then impales Asteropaios on his sword, causing guts to flow out, spelling the end of the brave warrior of the river.
Though Asteropaios did not even spend a year at war with the Achaeans, he still became the only mortal to injure Achilles, who later died at the hands of an arrow guided by Apollo.
Class Skills:
Magic Resistance: DCancels Single-Action spells and slightly reduces effectiveness of spells with a chant below two verses.
Riding: CMost vehicles can be handled with average skill. However, cannot ride the likes of Phantasmal Species such as Demonic Beasts and Divine Beast-rank creatures.
Personal Skills:
Projectile (Spears): B (+)The ability to hurl spears at high speeds. At this rank it becomes possible to throw spears at the speeds of bullets. The effectiveness of this skill is doubled when Asteropaios fights near a river, giving him the capability to throw spears at even higher velocities.
Ambidextrousness: -The rare talent to use both hands with the same proficiency. It allows for complete combat skills to be used with both the left and right hands, allowing the user to expertly dual wield or switch weapon hand mid-fight.
Divinity: DThe measure of one’s Divine Spirit aptitude. Asteropaios, as the grandson of the river god Axios, has a low degree of Divinity. It grants him special defensive protection against other Heroic Spirits of a river god’s lineage with Divinity E. In addition, combat capabilities increase if fighting in or near a river.

A set of four throwing spears carried by Asteropaios, granted to him by his divine grandfather Axios. They are truly magnificent spears just by their lonesome, carrying the concept of “No Resistance”. However, it was by pure skill and hard work on Asteropaios’ side that they managed to become Noble Phantasms of this magnitude. Their conceptual property causes them to ignore all resistance of lesser mystery, including air and momentum. The four of them could all therefore be called “weightless spears”.
When invoked, the ambidextrous technique of Asteropaios is initiated. Prana is infused into the two spears at hand and then hurled. The spears travel at a straight trajectory before coming close to the target, at which point the spears split into two different directions, aiming for two unprotected area of the opponent. If the foe clears an AGI check, then the spears will only enforce a “protector’s dilemma” onto the foe, meaning that only one spear will hit. The strike does not tend to be lethal if the AGI check is cleared, but will always hit at least one area and deal a significant amount of damage. However, it is possible to completely protect against this technique by using a Barrier-type Noble Phantasm of A rank or higher.
It is a very useful technique that consumes low amounts of Prana. The true risk of this technique is in discarding two spears at once, as Asteropaios must go out of his way to retrieve them afterwards.
Xanthos – Spears of Vulnerability AttestationRank: B+
Type: Anti-Barrier
Range: 5-40
Maximum Targets: 1
If Asteropaios finds himself in the close proximity of a river, he can then replicate the technique that wounded Achilles by calling upon river god Xanthos. It can be called the complete Axios technique, as by full merging of the spears’ concept and Asteropaios technique an ability that is able to circumvent conceptual defenses is born.
As the name of Xanthos is invoked, power from the nearby river flows into the two spears at hand together with Asteropaios’ Prana, after which they are hurled at the opponent. If a barrier-type Noble Phantasm is deployed in order to stop them, then their true property is displayed. The spears will converge on each other and the barrier, one spear simply hitting the barrier without any effect, but the second will pass through its twin, flowing through it and the barrier, bypassing the defense and any other protection like AC. After having passed through the defense, the remaining spear will attempt at a killing blow, but this can be prevented by passing an AGI check, in which case a high-damaging but not necessarily lethal injury will be inflicted instead. It is not a technique that destroys barriers, but merely bypasses them, which allows it to ignore even high-ranked conceptual defenses.
If no barrier is erected, then in order for this technique to be non-lethal the target must pass an AGI and a LCK check, which would then cause the spears to miss any immediately lethal areas, but still deal two high-damaging injuries.
Compared to Axios, this Noble Phantasm consumes a large amount of Asteropaios’ Prana in addition to requiring two spears to be thrown.
Weapons:
Short sword:An elaborate silver-studded sword made in the Age of Gods. It is a very fine sword but ultimately nameless, and thus not a Noble Phantasm. Asteropaios does not trust this blade very much so he rarely uses it. He is more likely to try and retrieve his spears if he has thrown them away rather than draw this sword. His skill with it is still marvelous, but compared to other Heroic Spirits, it is nothing special.
Analysis:
PROS1. Versatile set of armaments and skills that can fight at many distances and in many situations.CONS
2. Very useful Noble Phantasm that can be used more than once per battle.
3. Final Noble Phantasm is good at countering defensive type Servants.1. Needs to be by a river to have full potential realized.
2. Below average stats for a Lancer (unmodified), if only by a little.
3. Easy to defeat once he runs out of spears.
Design notes:
Asteropaios is not a very well known figure, but in the Iliad he becomes the only person to wound Achilles, he might even have put up a better fight if he would have been able to claim Achilles’ awesome spear.
He was surprisingly easy to make to be quite honest, something that is quite rare for lesser known figures like this guy.
I did not give a rank to Ambidextrousness because I do not think it needs one.
In many ways he resembles Cu Chulainn from F/SN. It just kind of came out that way, I did not intend it.
The subtitle of the second NP is a playful attack on the “Invulnerable aside from the heel” myths surrounding Achilles, something which is not present in Homer’s works.
He has possibly the most arbitrary restriction of any Servant ever, having to fight near a river to reach full strength.
In the Iliad he only has two spears, but I wanted him to throw some more spears, so I gave him a total of four. Incidentally, it does not seem like he carried a shield, which is a tad odd for a warrior from that age.
I was thinking of giving him a low-ranked Disengage so he could easily collect his spears after battle, but it did not have enough of a mythological basis, so I skipped it.
No idea about his alignment but he seemed like a nice chap though, so it became neutral good!
Nice job with Ogier the Dane, Verg! But I personally think that Curtana should be plain B-rank instead of B+... I have a personal dislike for all things Song of Roland, but I think it was a good profile nonetheless.

In all fairness, as much as I enjoy looking at T&A, senseless GBs annoy me too. I can only tolerate Nero because she is so damn amusing, loli-Jack because she's too cute (and, as mentioned, her reasoning is thematically sound and genuinely creepy), and Arturia because back when I first learned about FSN it was novel to me (it helps that she's friggin' adorable). I honestly didn't care for Francis at all until I read Tainted Ideals. That is her personality as far as my head-canon is concerned. So, don't worry about it.
Yeah, Jack's outfit is my only complaint. It just doesn't fit her, but then the Grail seems to give lots of Servants outfits that don't fit them (there is nothing Gaelic about Cu's outfit, Medusa's outfit makes her look like some BDSM prostitute, nothing about Gilgamesh looks Babylonian, and I am pretty sure that Saber was not happy about being summoned in a ballroom gown under her armor).
Incidentally, I loved your take on Paris. It was just so damn hilarious!
Any examples please (I'm not questioning you, I'm just curious)? I know Heracles was forced to go in drag for quite some time, and I am pretty sure there is at least one story where Lancelot disguised himself as a woman to compete in a tournament, but I don't know of too many others.
I blame Urobuchi (and Nasu to a lesser extent for greenlighting all of that junk without looking over it too carefully). As mentioned, I can only assume this is to justify his ability to use the NPs of others.

Nice job on an otherwise obscure hero! Though he seemed ore similar to Diramuid to me than Cu. Cu is just haxxed and would be so much more dangerous if he had a Master who wanted him to win (and if he acted a little more competently), but Diramuid has to rely on skill to get things done and using him requires some thought.

To be honest, I've always imagined her to be huge tsundere. Or maybe the Onee-san type, because lol-Astolfo.
Herakles for Omphale; Odysseus in Ino's long veil; and Achilles to avoid the Trojan War: these all ended up cross-dressers - big names, you know. Tiresias gets changed into a woman and eventually returns to being a man; conversely the invincible hero Kaineus of the Centauromachy was originally the woman Kainis. Amazons are obviously easy to gender-bend; and if you pick any of the debauched Roman emperors there's probably some story about them cross-dressing. The gods obviously do plenty of shape-shifting and anyone whose guise is taken over by a female god therefore becomes suspect (e.g. Deiphobos, the brother Hektor, when Athene looks like him in order to force Hektor to stand and fight Achilles).

Oddly, this was a common thing for the gay(er) emperors to do to their lovers. They kept turning gay men into semi-women. (IIRC, there's a story that one of Caligula's many WTF marriages was to someone he'd done this to. Or was that Nero?)
There was also some temple of Aphrodite where similar techniques were used on the male priests. Sounds painful.

Nero did that to a boy named Sporus. Also, regarding Achilles, I think the cross-dressing aspect of his character was something also added by the Romans (originally in Statius's Achilleid). They really liked their cross-dressers.
