    Yayoi Period

A chapter of Japanese history ranging between 300 BC and 250 AD. In a sense, it is a period that can be regarded as the daybreak of Japanese civilization.

Up until then, the still primitive Japanese people lived as independent, semi-nomadic tribes of hunters-gatherers. However, new techniques brought by immigrants from he continent – such as agriculture and metallurgy – promoted a quick and sudden advancement of society. The once small population began to grow after they established sedentary communities, which in turn caused the development of a hierarchical social class structure.

    Koshinto

Shintoism. An animistic religious system originated in ancient Japan, it preaches that everything in creation – including plants, animals, people and even inanimate objects – possesses a kami (神; roughly: divine essence) and, since they all exist in the same world, each and every kami are naturally interconnected. The Shinto doctrines advocate the diligent, customary performance of rites in order to maintain and strengthen that connection.

Although the kami is present in all things, certain objects are said to act as vessels for particularly exceptional kami. These are usually natural formations such as mountains, rivers and unusual rocks and trees. Regarded as sacred existences that can serve as conduit between people and kami, shrines are erected in their vicinity in order to worship and protect them.

In addition, Shinto doctrines put great importance in the notion of spiritual purity. According to its creeds, many deeds that are commonplace in the daily lives of humans can bring kegare (穢れ; impurity) to the kami. A kami that has been stained in such manner will begin to attract all sorts of misfortunes and calamities towards itself and its surroundings. In order to prevent that, harae (祓; purification rites) must be performed periodically in order to cleanse the kami. One can say that such harae is the true lifeblood of Shinto practices.

By the way, the Shintoism commonly known in modern times is a variation established around the 6th and 7th Centuries, after Buddhist influences arrived in Japan from the continent. What this Servant practices is the ancient form of Shintoism (Koshinto) that existed since way before these influences appeared.

    CLASS SKILLS

    Territory Creation: EX
The technical skill to build up an advantageous encampment to oneself as a magus. Thanks to this Skill that allows to create in the shortest time a Workshop that displays the very best effectiveness on any kind of terrain condition, Caster boasts the greatest advantage in regards to defensive fights among all Servants.

Thanks to the support of the Noble Phantasm, her capacity in this Skill is off the scale. The territory she creates is already something extremely close to an alternate universe.

    Item Construction: D
The technical skill to produce devices that carry magical power. It makes possible to manufacture various tools, from items and Mystic Codes meant for battle to daily necessities. However, this Skill takes time for the production and supply of ingredients. D Rank denotes construction prowess of an average magus. Most of the classical magic items can be produced, but their quality will be second-rate at best.

    PERSONAL SKILLS

    Charisma: A+
The natural talent to command an army corps. Raises the abilities of one's own army on group battles. A rare talent. Upon coming this far, this is not popularity but a type of charm, curse.

    Divinity: E
Whatever one has Divine Spirit aptitude. The higher the level more one is treated as a mixed race of a materialized Divine Spirit. Other than breaking Skills such as Protection of the Faith and Enlightenment of the Bodhi Tree, there is also an effect that reduces the special defensive value called “purge defense” in proportion to the Rank in this Skill.

Despite being born as a normal human, Himiko has some small measure of divinity due to acting as an yorimashi (憑巫; possessed oracle – a living vessel of sorts) for Amaterasu during most of her life. A rare case of Divine Spirit aptitude not being inherited by blood, but an acquired trait earned during one’s lifetime.

    Shamanism: A
An idiosyncrasy-like mystery. A Thaumaturgical Foundation rooted on local customs and folklore. Generally regarded as a minor school of Magecraft.

In her case, this relates to Shintoism… or rather the primitive religious system that became its archetype.

    NOBLE PHANTASM

Shinjyukyou – Fragments of the Sun
    Rank: C
    Type: Anti-Magecraft
Shinjyukyou. An ancient type of round bronze mirror originated from China, produced at large during the early six centuries of the modern era. The reverse side is full of relief images of sacred beasts and divine spirits (hence the name), said to have the Taoist paradise as a motif.

These mirrors are not something limited to just China, but are known to have been imported to foreign lands - especially Korea and Japan. Ancient chinese records detail that Emperor Cao Rui, from the state of Cao Wei, presented 100 of these mirrors to Queen Himiko of Yamatai.

In Ancient Japan, mirrors were highly valued items due to their beauty and difficulty to manufacture. With time, they came to be regarded as supernatural artifacts. Thanks to the most candid feature that mirrors possess - that of emitting light and reflecting the "proper aspect" of things - they were assumed for having powers of purification to drive away all sorts of twisted existences such as impurities, misfortune and demonic powers. Also, due to their strong association to light, they eventually became a divine symbol of the Sun Goddess.

Caster’s Shinjyukyou has the power to absorb and store sunlight inside itself in the form of prana. Usually she employs that energy in order to fuel and strengthen her own Magecraft, but its original purpose is quite the opposite. By calling its true name, the mirror will use the stored prana to project a ray of light that can dispel all sorts of enchantments and curses.

Yamatai – A Country Lost in Oblivion
    Rank: A++
    Type: Anti-Army
Caster’s greatest trump card. Also, the symbol of her greatest despair. A secret art falsely similar to a Reality Marble.

The country of Yamatai that was ruled by Himiko certainly existed in the distant past of Japan. Still, there are very little surviving records attesting that fact in modern times, none of which verify where or when exactly it existed. Thus, many doubt its historicity and even disregard (forget) its existence altogether.

This Noble Phantasm can only be employed once she successfully established a Temple on top of an excellent leyline. Once activated, a bounded field will cover all the land directly connected to said leyline and make it disappear from the perception・memories of the people outside it. This effect is even stronger in the inner side of the bounded field; anyone other than her or her Master must be successful in a LCK check at every turn, otherwise lose all memories regarding the events that transpired inside. Rather than a strong Magic Resistance, protections against mental interference are necessary in order to fully defend against this.

The inside of the bounded field is regarded as Caster's territory. Within it, she receives a Rank UP on all stats and her popularity is raised to the highest level. Furthermore, the laws of the world are revised to conform more with those of the Age of Gods, making it possible for reenactment of the mysteries of that era in a limited fashion.

    Background
    BACKGROUND

Himiko. The shaman queen who once ruled over the small state of Yamatai, that once existed somewhere in the Japanese archipelago. A priestess (miko) devoted to the Sun Goddess Amaterasu; some theories say she may actually have been an avatar of Amaterasu.

According to ancient records, Himiko came to power after a long period of warfare. With the advent of new sciences and technologies from the continent, the many primitive tribes that populated the land of Wa (ancient Japan) enjoyed a time of growth and development during Yayoi period. Eventually, they capitalized on that growth and attempted to expand their influence to beyond the physical boundaries of their isolated communities.

It didn’t take long before these tribes got into conflict with each other.

What began with minor skirmishes over territory became blood feuds that lasted for generations. The tribal leaders proved themselves unable to restrain their kinsmen, when they were not outright inciting them. Gradually, the situation got out of hand and chaos and death spread across the land.

The one who solved this situation was Himiko. Under the guidance of heavens, she devoted all her powers to bring peace to Wa. Her earnest efforts and charismatic personality won the heart of the people, which in turn became the mainspring for an armistice. Later, when she rose to the throne of Yamatai, all the other tribes pledged allegiance to her and peace was secured.

(Incidentally, when foreign officials from the continent visited Yamatai and saw the immense popularity that Himiko enjoyed among her subjects, they mistakenly perceived that as the effect of some magic spell)

After becoming queen, Himiko devoted herself entirely to governing her country and the land of Wa enjoyed reveled in times of extensive harmony and good harvest while under her rule. On another hand, she also stepped away from the public stage and led a secluded life inside the royal palace. The queen was served by over a thousand handmaidens, but only one man had any contact with Himiko: her younger brother, who was in charge of her meals and helped in the country’s administration by passing her messages to other public officials. The queen remained unmarried for life.

There was great mourning all over Wa when Himiko died in 248 AD. Not only a great gravesite was built in her honor, but it has also been said that over a hundred loyal subjects performed self-sacrifice in order to follow her in the afterlife.

    Monarch of a Doomed Land

All the stories about Himiko’s greatness aside, in the end she was just a commonplace maiden who just wished for peace. In her youth, she saw her homeland be torn apart by the war. Also, by means of her powers as a shaman, she learned about the tragic truth of the world – that mystery was disappearing from the earth. In the continent, the blessings of the gods that brought fortune and tranquility to people had all but disappeared already. And the land of Wa wasn’t much behind in that same path.

Himiko stood up to prevent that outcome. Thus she became queen and brought peace and unity to the land. She made treaties with foreign nations and invited their riches into Wa. Furthermore, in an attempt to compensate for the loss of mystery, she turned herself into a living conduit for power of the Sun Goddess and beckoned her divine grace onto the land.

But in the end, everything was just a vain struggle.

No matter how much divine protection she called forth, the efforts (sacrifice) of a single human couldn’t even delay the fate that was set by the world.

As for her country, Himiko’s accomplishments only served to invite even greater tragedy.

For better or for worse, humans are creatures that only truly feel alive when they are struggling to survive. By removing all conflict, Himiko unknowingly made so that the people of Yamatai would slowly have their will to live (fight) on shaved away. So they became complacent. They lost their drive. Eventually, they stopped “living” altogether and became existences that merely waited for their own deaths.

These were the true circumstances that lead countless people into taking their lives just because of the death of a leader (idol).

After Himiko’s death, her remaining countrymen either became easy victims for the hostilities that resumed soon after or were absorbed and overwhelmed by the continuous flow of immigrants from the continent. In practice, it was the end of Yamatai.

But in Himiko’s honest opinion, that in itself was not so bad. From the beginning, her endeavor was one with little chances of success. Since even before she was born, her country’s demise was all but certain. This was a fact Himiko was well aware when she decided to stand up against fate. So she had long prepared herself to see it through.

If anything, it was what came after that fate (demise) that truly made her despair.

I'm making a servant sheet for Charles XII of Sweden, and I want to ask, for more recent servants (1600-1700), is there a rule about what kind of stats they should have? Would a C be average, or D?

Something on the weaker end is probably not a bad idea, yeah. Jekyll had kind of high stats but he was also a Berserker and a really famous one at that.

  4. #11184
Speaking of Berserkers, I was wondering about that too. Looking at Frankenstein, she still has some capacity to think, so is that a constant at D rank mad enhancement? I'm making Charles a Berserker because he was known for being a crazy warrior in battle, but he was also a very smart tactician in real life, so I'm wondering which direction to go with that.

    @MoC

    Yay, Himiko-hime!

Personally I'm not a fan of Territory Creation EX, bt I guess it does have a valid explanations. I don't think however that a magus with such a degree in TC would also be so bad at Item Construnction... I would've accepted A.

And by comparison with Gilgamesh, I'd say A+ Charisma is a bit too high, personally I would've gone for A. But other than that, I always like MoC's profiles!

Thank you for the proper feedback!

Anyway, lets go by the numbers.

    1. her rank of Item Construction has nothing to do with her EX Territory Creation. I decided to make it like this because of the circumstances of the age when she lived; during the Yayoi period, Japanese civilization was still in its infancy and they had yet to master the manufacture of items made out of metal and the likes. Most of first-rate items had to be exported from foreign lands. So, I thought that someone who lived in an era like this would probably not be good in producing things herself either. Also, here is an interesting piece of trivia: in Japanese mythology, the most powerful magic items are always the handiwork of gods and youkai. Artifacts produced by human hands are usually the exception, not the rule.
    2. Charisma A+ is a direct influence of testimonies on how "Himiko bewitched the people of Yamatai with sorcery". I wanted to keep the "bewitched people" element while making it not a product of sorcery, but just simple popularity. The result was this.

I don't know how to explain this. I think someone said something about shota Servants like fifty pages back and.

    faceclaim (click for alternative!)

"Can you recite your dreams from when you were a child? Everything you were, everyone you might have been. The one who flushed those pretty pictures and heartfelt hopes down the drain... who might that be?"

    Name:
Christopher Robin Milne, Perverted Existence of a Man giving Piggybacks
    Class: Caster
    Alignment: True Neutral

    STR: E
    AGI: E
    CON: E
    MGI: A++
    LCK: A
    NP: EX

    Class Skills:

    Territory Creation
The skill to build a special terrain that is advantageous to oneself as a magus.
    • E: Creation of a 'Play Area', which is inferior to a Temple, becomes possible. As the Servant lacks the traditional training and ability of a magus, Caster's established territory is a primarily-defensive area, bolstering the Endurance of his allies whilst within it.

"Away! Away! The day we play,
With books and toys and other boys,
It rains, it rains, dear Mummy cried,
    Leaving us unsatisfied."

    Item Construction
The skill to manufacture magical items.
    • E: It is possible to create minor 'good luck' charms with a 25% degree of accuracy. Also allows for the penning of fairly-mediocre but oddly insightful poetry, a child's scrawl that holds a deep understanding of the human condition.

"Seven lines thick on paper old,
Your fingers flutter, stave off the cold,
Peek through your fingers and around the door,
And ask if you can't write some more."

    Personal Skills:

    Shapeshift
Refers to both borrowing bodies and appearance change.
    • D: Not yet at the level of truly changing one's appearance, the rather bizarre nature of Caster's existence means that his appearance exists in a state of flux; without any action on his part, both his physical features and basic mannerisms differ based on the observer, modified to resemble the way they looked and acted as a child. This is not true mimicry, as it possible for onlookers to corroborate and confirm the exact detail of Caster's appearance, but rather a mental effect that 'overlays' one's mental image of their own child self onto him. Has no practical effect beyond the possibility of smoothing social interactions. The Christopher Robin who was not Christopher Robin, the boy who left home for school and the man who left to open a bookshop - one and the same yet fundamentally at odds, the distinction between dream and reality, ideal and truth.

"As I lay here, idle, curled up in bed,
I draw my blue hood over my head,
I can't see the world, and the World can't see me,
Because I am no-one, and no-one is Me."

    Animal Dialogue
Communication of intention with animals that don't speak a "language of words".
    • B: Fundamentally, the actual intelligence of the animal remains unchanged, but it becomes possible to translate fairly-complex concepts into something that can be understood. Likewise, Caster is able to interpret the seemingly-mindless chatter of animals - provided they are suitably cute to match his tastes - as units of far greater meaning than mere beasts could ever hope to muster.

"The man, grown-up, hears a hoot and a roar,
The boy, so Little, hears whispers and more,
Even owls and tigers must have their own cares,
Even piglets and bears sometimes say their prayers."

    Mental Disorder (False)
The mind has fallen ill. It is not the Mad Enhancement that Berserkers usually possess.
    • B: Not truly a disorder in the traditional sense, Caster's child-like mind cannot understand concepts such as death and aggression; regardless of how they might be explained to him, his innocence is utterly unshakeable. Naturally, to say that children have no concept of 'malice' is foolhardy indeed, and experience alone does much to teach them such things - but Caster is a boy who will never grow in any sense of the word, the idealised and hopelessly unrealistic inner child that everyone longs for. The Platonic perfection that the masses wish to exist. Pure beyond measure, never to falter. ... Of course, Caster is also quick to remind his Master that he is utterly unintelligent and hopeless at mathematics, just like the man upon whom he was based.

"They went off together, facing cruel fate and ill weather,
The boy and his bear playing together,
No matter the day, or what you are saying,
The boy and his bear will always be playing."

    NPs

    Noble Phantasms:

    Name:
    Christopher Robin
    Nur%2ery RhyERRORme
    A Story for Somebody's Sake

    Rank: EX
    Type: Anti-World

The book held by Caster, it is a small volume containing a finite number of pages, appearing to all the world utterly unremarkable until one turns the page. It is a biography, detailing the life of the living man Christopher Robin Milne from beginning to end, birth to death... or at least, that is was it attempts to be; for the life of C. Milne is, in truth, utterly unremarkable. Milne's life was haunted from beginning to end by the ghost of the literary figure based upon him, and summoned as a Servant he is not different - the character of Christopher Robin overwhelms, overwrites, and utterly replaces the spirit of Milne, and so do the myriad of stories of Christopher Robin feature in the book, literally overlayed upon the text and rendering the life story of that tedious man completely unreadable. A biography that can't be read properly, the product of dual existences, so too is that tiny, tiny volume the true location of Caster's spiritual core; as long as it remains, so too will Caster. This is because Caster is not truly Christopher Robin Milne, the man who lived and died, but Christopher Robin, the little boy who will live on forever in popular imagination. Using Milne's spirit as a shell, he is capable of maintaining himself as a being that never existed, using his status as a being of near-worship to force himself upon the world.

A distortion of the Nursery Rhyme Reality Marble, it bares a number of similarities, but is distinct from it in many ways. To begin with, using the soul of a real person as a conduit allows Caster to maintain himself just as any Servant would, meaning he can survive without running dry his Master's supply of prana and burning their soul out in an instant. In exchange however, he should be far weaker. Nursery Rhyme, after all, is an entire literary genre, drawing power from the worship and adoration from children around the world, whilst Christopher Robin is a singular figure barely a century old - the disparity is immediately clear. While Nursery Rhyme can exist thanks to thousands of children, Christopher Robin's sphere of cultural influence is far smaller... again, this is how things should be. But rather than looking at what Christopher Robin is, one must instead understand what Christopher Robin means to the world; stories of a boy playing with his toys alone do not inspire such fascination, no. Christopher Robin represents something far grander than that, an ideal that exists in the hearts of the masses, an eternal child that allows him to become more than the sum of his parts. Whilst Nursery Rhyme draws from the children who enjoyed the beautiful tales of Carrol and company, Christopher Robin draws his power from the adults of the world, across all of time and every culture, tapping into the concept of an idealised childhood that every grown-up believes in, the childhood they never truly lived, the childhood they wished they had, the childhood they want their children to have - widespread worship comparable to a Divine Spirit, it is collected and used to sustain the contradictory nature of Caster. A boy who is not Christopher Robin, stealing his name and using it to gain fame, the perverted existence of a man giving piggyback.

... Amongst the mana collected in this small book, even lies the hopes and wishes of C. Milne himself. Hopelessly sad, akin to a victim of kidnapping joining the very investigation searching for them, from the bottom of his heart Milne sustains the very spirit he so despised.

"I won't go away, as you will me to stay,
By your bed I shall pray, together we'll play,
I was not You, you were not Me,
You were not You, but I am still Me."

Also allows for the creation of...

    The 100-Acre Wood
Perpetual Engine - On Infant Shoulders

A Reality Marble of the highest calibre, it is the 'setting' of Christopher Robin's story, one that is quietly overlaid over the surrounding area and quickly incorporates it into its own mass, distorting the very territory to suit one of A.A. Milne's storybooks; towers of stone become the tallest of trees, houses as huts, grand cathedrals a 'Skoolhouse' for all the world's children. Within the 100-Acre Wood the rules of 'a children's story' are exceptionally strong, and as such, even the natural law of death holds no meaning there, for such things as suffering and squall cannot exist in the mind of an eternally-innocent child. But it is not this that makes the 100-Acre Wood so remarkable, no, but it instead its ability to 'appoint characters'.

The 100-Acre Wood, the real forest, was but the playpen of Christopher Robin, a world unto itself where mere belief could animate a stuffed toy, turn sticks into swords, all manner of wonders than can only exist in a boy's playtime. So, too, does Caster retain the ability to make a bear of fluff into Winnie the Pooh - or, perhaps, to make a man into but another character. With but the most basic of conscious effort, Caster is able to label a given target, be it 'my friend, Eeyore' or 'one of the woodland animals', and have it accepted by the world; this effect completely overwhelms the target, rewrites their very existence for as long as they remain within the bounds of the Reality Marble, altering their personality and abilities alike to suit the new role. If Nursery Rhyme's Nameless Forest has the power to rob one of their name, then Christopher Robin's 100-Acre Wood has the power to give one a new name, a new identity, a role to play for as long as they accompany Caster. There is no true defense against this effect, beyond having another individual come in from the inside and remind the affected party of their original identity, though this is not necessarily guaranteed to succeed; the greater the ego of the individual, the more they will cling to their new 'self', with higher levels of mental fortuity making the effects permanent until the Reality Marble. To make matters worse, whilst actually deploying the 100-Acre Wood requires a great deal of prana, the task of sustaining it is utterly negligible, for in the bounds of the Reality Marble, even Gaia herself is overwhelmed, subject to Christopher Robin having labeled her as 'The 100-Acre Wood', meaning the corrective impulse that would usually seek to crush a Reality Marble instead works to maintain it. A terrifying power indeed.

    May also allow for...

    Name:
    Gate of Babylon
    King's Hunny Collection

    Rank: E ~ A++
    Type: Anti-Unit

A dark red, key-shaped shortsword that connects to the "Golden Hunnyvault", the treasury of Gillie the Pooh, self-proclaimed king of the 100-Acre Wood and Caster's best friend! Allows that silly old Goldie to access his collection, connecting to the space within his vault, opening an "invisible door" that allows for the contents to pass through upon the user's command. The items that pass through the gate form ripples in the empty air as they appear. Contained within is the honey of the gods, the ultimate nectar, the original prototype from which all honeypots have been derived, unique in how utterly delicious it may be; the hives of Aristeus, the product of Ah-Muzen-Cab, the tears of Ra and the marvels of Melissa all pale in comparison to Gillie's collection of honey, which he uses both to sate his unceasing appetite and to overwhelm Caster's foes, drowning them in a torrent of such utter deliciousness even the gods of Uruk would weep.

Christopher Robin Milne, a simple boy of the 20th century, he was born to the author A.A. Milne, lived a humble and somewhat troublesome life, demonstrating a certain wit and natural intelligence from an early age, he earned the affection of his parents time and again, despite the loathing he held for himself, ever dismissing his own efforts and writing himself off as 'dim'. He served in the armed forces for some time, returned to his studies with great success, and opened a bookshop. In time, he found love, brought a beautiful daughter into the world, and eventually died peacefully in his sleep.

Not the most remarkable of men, by any stretch of the imagination. What is truly remarkable about the man is the character he helped to create: Christopher Robin, the boy his father based upon him, a young boy with mismatched socks who played with his animal friends in the 100-Acre Wood. This character, featured in books and poetry alike, would go on to earn the affection of the masses, regardless of their youth, and it is this that earned the ire of Milne - for in his eyes, he was forced to bear the boy his father had written into being upon his shoulders, taunted and haunted by him, used as the foundation for his father's fame, seen not for who he is but what he never really was. Milne grew old and died, Christopher Robin left the woods and his childhood behind, only to return again and again in the minds of the readers - the ultimate expression of how one might be surpassed by their works. What remains now, what is summoned to the Holy Grail War, is an idealised existence using Milne as a host, a living concept latched onto his very soul, one of the Divine Spirits of the modern era. He draws on the popular worship of the readers, how he lives on in their memory, what he means and what he serves to represent - in truth, the being that is summoned as a Servant was a pre-existing entity, the notion of an inner child and the product of man's hopeless romanticisation of his own childhood. All that Christopher Robin Milne served to do was give this being, without a will or a soul of its own, a fitting form to take, a way for a mindless concept to truly achieve life.

Summoned as a Servant, Caster is nothing if not polite. A precocious yet perfectly innocent child, he is always sure to mind his manners, loves nothing more than to enjoy himself to the full, and is eternally playful. And yet... he seems quite happy to insult and demean the man upon whom he was based, always referring to his faults and misgivings about himself. It would not be a stretch to say that beneath Caster's apparent purity beats a certain madness, devoid of true malice and yet not truly human, the delight that comes from taking the objects of man's worship, the heroes that have earned their place in the hearts of humanity, and reducing them to little more than his playmates.

    Class: Berserker
True Name: Charles XII (Carolus Rex)
    Alignment: Chaotic Good

    STR: D (C)
    END: C (B)
    AGI: D (C)
    MGI: E
    LCK: E
    NP: C+

    Class Skills:
    Mad Enhancement: C+
Rank up for all parameters except luck and mana. Unlike most Berserkers, Charles XII is still capable of thinking and speaking to a degree so long as he is not in battle. Once engaged, he will lose the ability to think rationally.

    Personal Skills:
    Battle Continuation: A
Makes it possible to fight even with deadly injuries and can remain alive so long as one does not receive a fatal wound.

    Charisma: B
The natural talent to command an army. Increases the ability of allies during group battles. At this rank, it is suitable for the king of a country.

    Protection from Ice: B
Charles’ resistance to physical pain, as well as a lifetime of hunting and fighting in extremely cold areas has given him an increased resistance to cold and icy terrain. Gives a slight boost to defense in the snow.

    Nonnegotiable: A
Charles was notorious for being against peace efforts towards his enemies, having said, "I have resolved never to start an unjust war but never to end a legitimate one except by defeating my enemies". He will always engage in a fight with the desire to win, preventing opponents from disengaging once they enter battle with him. However, this also means that Charles will not disengage from battle unless ordered to by a command seal.

    Noble Phantasm
Narva – The Lion in the Snow: C+
In 1700, Charles XII marched his army to Narva to battle against the Russian army. With an army of 8,000 men, he was able to crush the Russian’s army of 40,000 men. This battle is one of Charles’ greatest victories, and left Russia in dire straights during this period. A large factor in his victory over the Russians was a blizzard that rained over the battlefield. Around midday, the winds began to blow the blizzard towards the Russian army, effectively blinding them, allowing Charles and his army to advance.

When this noble phantasm is invoked, a large blizzard will be summoned to the battlefield. The blizzard will target Charles’ opponent, greatly reducing vision, and allows Charles to hide in the blizzard, almost akin to a low level Presence Concealment. The opponent will also take damage over time from oncoming hail. It is entirely possible for a servant of low enough endurance to die from exposure. The blizzard also counts for Charles' Protection from Ice ability, helping to boost his defense.

    Story:
Charles XII was King of Sweden from 1697 to 1718. He became king at the age of 15, and most of his life was taken up by constant warfare. He spent his free time hunting bears and wolves. In the year of 1700, Charles marched the Swedish Army to Narva, which was to be the spot of one of Charles’ greatest victories. Despite being vastly outnumbered, Charles led the Swedish army to victory over the Russian’s army of 40,000. This marked a pattern of victories over other armies in spite of superior numbers or positioning.

However, like many before him, Charles’ advance was stopped when he reached Russia. The Russian’s scorched Earth strategy left little recourses for the Swedes, and the abnormally wet weather left the supply column coming slow, leaving it to be attacked and eventually destroyed. With little resources the army retreated to Ukraine. Though many died of exposure, Charles and his army managed to survive one of the harshest winters on record at the time. While they were able to score a win against a Russian garrison, Charles was wounded by a sniper bullet to his foot and was unable to lead his army for the next battle. The chain of command broke and Charles was forced to escape to Turkey.

He spent the next 14 years away from Sweden, and when he returned he once again led his army to war. When he invaded Norway in 1718, he was struck in the head by a bullet, and was killed instantly. It is not known if it was a stray bullet, or if he was assassinated.

In life Charles was said to have been an automaton, never showing any emotion except for when his sister died. It is said that he swore off alcohol and women, never getting married or having any children. He had an almost inhuman willpower, never registering pain, and remaining brave even in the most dire of circumstances.

Rather than winning through raw power, I made Charles XII win by putting his enemy in undesirable circumstances and never letting up. Being a more modern servant, I wanted to try and keep to the Berserker class’s basis of making weaker servants stronger. Again, being a modern servant, I had to get a little creative to make up a Noble Phantasm. Charles XII doesn’t have as much to make into a legendary weapon, but the Battle of Narva was something I found really cool with the blizzard, and I felt like it was workable into a Noble Phantasm.

    No Charisma?

Looked it up cause I thought it was lost with Mad Enhancement, but apparently I confused that with Bravery. Yeah, I should probably put that in there since he is one of the most famous Swedish kings.

    Christopher Robin Milne: lol. *claps*

Also, ruby text above ruby text? What is this witchcraft?!

Charles XII: it feels like Nonnegotiable should be even higher.

I liked it, but only because I am fond of freezing enemies to death.

    Seems like it.

That was my only real complaint about it.

I really like how you designed his NP though.

Fascinating. I didn't remember we could do that.

This is my first attempt. I tried my best to follow guidelines and hopefully didn't offend anyone knowledgeable in Iroquois mythology. It was hard to piece together the fragmented stories, but I felt more Native American heroes should be used.
    Spoiler:

    Name
    : He-no
    Gender: Male
    Class: Archer
    Alignment: Neutral Good
    STR: C
    END: D
    AGI: C
    MGI: C
    LCK: D
    NP: B

He-no’s legend has been dispersed and reshaped many times throughout the years among the Iroquois tribe. His most notable legend is the slaying of a sea serpent dwelling in lake while atop the heavens. Brought from the earth to the heavens after being urged by a voice, the sky chief’s tribe wanted to see a demonstration of He-no’s archery skills. The sky chief presented a man from his tribe who then fired arrows into a lake where the sea serpent resided, but he missed every shot. Now his turn, the sky chief asked He-no if he could look down to the earth and see the dragon in the lake to which He-no denied. The sky chief then rubbed an ointment into He-no’s eyes, blessing him with enhanced eyesight for the challenge before him. He-no rained blessed arrows of lightning and thunder granted to him from the thunder god Hi-nun, down into the lake. Nothing happened for some time, but soon the beast had burst from the lake covered in bloody wounds, coloring the lake in a crimson red then perished. Praised by the chief and his tribesman, He-no is then brought back down to earth. Blessed by the pantheon tribe in the sky, He-no is revered as a thunder spirit among his tribes.

He once lived in a cave under Niagara Falls. At that time a young girl living above the falls was engaged to marry a disagreeable old man. Rather than marry him she climbed into a canoe and headed down the river. The girl and the canoe were carried over the falls; the canoe was seen falling to destruction, but the girl disappeared. Hé-no and his two (nameless) assistants caught her in a blanket and brought her back to his cave. One of the assistants, taken with her beauty, married her.
Later Hé-no rescued her village from a huge serpent which was devastating it with disease. He lured the serpent to a spot on Buffalo Creek where he struck it with a thunderbolt. Fatally wounded, the serpent tried to escape to the safety of Lake Erie, but died before he could get away. His body floated downstream and stuck at the head of the falls, stretching nearly across the river and arching backward. The dammed up water broke the rocks, and the whole verge of the Falls and the body fell onto the rocks below. The break formed Horseshoe Falls, but in the process destroyed Hé-no's home.

    Class Skills:
    Independent Action

    • C: Capable of remaining in this world for one day without an established contract.

    Magic Resistance

    • A: Cancel spells of A-Rank or below

He-no achieves A rank through the use of his noble phantasm and his Eyes of the Heaven skill. A D rank is given without the noble phantasm.

    Personal Skills:
    Clairvoyance
Superior visual perception and dynamic occipital capture, such as to supplement the long-range aiming of projectile weapons.

    • A++: With eyes blessed by the sky chief to aid him in slaying the sea serpent on Earth from the heavens, He-no is able to attribute his excellent archery skills with x-ray vision from great distances.

    Divinity
The measure of whether one has Divine Spirit aptitude or not.

    • C: Though revered as a thunder spirit amongst his tribes, He-no did not originate with a divine status until after his most famous legend was told and suffers a lower rank for it.

    Eyes of the Heavens
A skill that enables enhanced vision through divine means.

    • A: With an ointment granted to him from the sky chief, He-no gains protection from magical spells and incantations that would normally effect a user through his eyes. He-no is able to see through all forms of obstruction with this skill, greatly increasing his Clairvoyance skill. An alternate version of Presence Detection, any form of obstruction like Presence Concealment or For Someone’s Glory can be seen through.

    Noble Phantasms:
    Bolts of Hi-nun
Name: Sacred Arrows of the Thunder God From Atop the Skies
    Rank: B
    Type: Anti-Unit
Being well known for his archery skills, He-no was plucked from the earth to perform for the sky chief’s tribe. With mortal arrows of wood and stone being useless in harming the sea serpent slumbering deep in the bottom of a lake, He-no had no method to kill the monster. The thunder god, Hi-nun, blessed He-no with arrows of pure lightning and thunder for the task at hand.
While normally wielding plain arrows, when He-no invokes the name of this noble phantasm, his arrows change form and shape resembling erratic white bolts of plasma. When fired from his bow, the arrows move at a remarkable speed able to surpass that of most servants with an incredible amount of destructive impact and heat. The arrows are subject to traveling in a straight line, but most manner of obstruction are removed through blessed means, though a noble phantasm of equal or greater rank may deflect the bolt, although the speed at which it travels and the combination of He-no’s Clairvoyance skill, makes it hard to do so. Even with the serpent lying deep in the lake, the divine arrows fired from He-no were able to almost instantaneously puncture and kill the serpent.
    Sacred Feather from Mother
Name: Mother Earth’s Blessing From The Sky Where None Can Change
    Rank: C
    Type: Anti-Self
He-no was blessed with a sacred feather from Mother Earth when he ignited the wraith of the creator god Hah-gweh-di-yu. The reason for the High god’s anger toward He-no has been lost, but legends of the feather granted to He-no carry on. Attacks from the great creator god would be deflected so long as the feather band was worn on He-no’s head.
When the feather band is on his head, He-no gains a large boost in magic resistance. The band may be taken off and given to another at a decreased boost though no modern magi would be able to harm the wearer.
