Yo--
oh.
He never sleeps. He never dies.
Battle doesn't need a purpose; the battle is its own purpose. You don't ask why a plague spreads or a field burns. Don't ask why I fight.
Nice fighting game reflexes.

Ok just finished it, the ending was okay, a little less impactful than I would have wanted tho. But Shakes. Astolfo, and Caules was great. Semi and Amakusa was sweet. And Sieg definetly looked cool. So I give it that.
Ok now for my thoughts for my thoughts on the series.
It was fun, I can definitely say that, there were scenes that really moved and resonated with me, but on the same token their were alot of scenes that was awkward and wasn't done right in this adaptation. I won't defend Apocrypha of it's faults, even when I can look past those problems I know that many people can't and I accept that, tho it does pain me a little seeing peoples negative reactions to it and the LN. In terms of it's basic plotline Apocrypha is simple I'd admit that, but that wasn't ever the reason I liked Apocrypha, the reason I liked it was simple, I love it's characters.
I love all the Servants and Masters, and personally enjoyed seeing the conclusion of their stories. One who particularly resonated with me would be Siegfried, after learning about his life in the 2nd Vol I loved him and his wish, which why his death scene in the anime is one of my favorites, my bias for him is also mostly why I like Sieg as a character, because he's his legacy so that's why I pay paticualar attention of his journey. Even if he isn't the best protag for the story.
As for the Animes Antagonist, Amakasa Shirou Tokisada. Overall I believe to have been a very cool character tho personally not a compelling Antagonist I admit. My gripe with him is that he didn't feel he got much development as an antagonist and it feels a little shallow to me, the reasoning for why that it feels that way to me if I had to chop it down is because Amakusa is already a completed character. He has already resolved his personal conflicts and found his purpose in his backstory as part of the 3rd HGW, thus as we seen him here he has already went through his development and is now standing at the climax of his story, thinking it about that way really makes me want to see a 3rd HGW VN come out so that I can see Amakusa's conflict as a character. He's still an awesome character tho.
Looking back on it Apocrypha really is a story about wishes, mostly every character has a wish of some kind, whether for the Grail or not, thus their interactions revolve around their personal motivations to see them come through, whether they are successful at it or fail trying. That is a theme I can respect about Apocrypha and it was certainly an interesting journey for the characters. There was certainly flawed scenes but I enjoyed it regardless, I enjoyed most of the battles, enjoyed the music, enjoyed the characters, and while I wasn't satisfied with how the story turn out, I still think it's fine, and that Apocrypha certainly deserves it's place as a Fate work and that it's not a disgrace tho there could've been more. This is just my thoughts, not trying to convince anyone or argue, you all have your opinions. This is just a little reflection that I'm doing for myself. Anyhow I had fun with this, and here's hoping for an Apo event in GO, because personally I believe that GOs setting really can take Apo and make it a better story with it's characters. Can't wait

"Only in my company, will you not be a monster"
anywhere than here
That's pretty much how I feel, and I don't think I could have worded it better. I'm not going to pretend Apocrypha was perfect but I loved the cast to death and still enjoyed it all the same. Though one small thing I think we disagree on is I am rather satisfied with the ending.
Also yes 3rd HGW VN with routes based on whether they summon Angra or Amakusa please.

Shame that it can't be longer so we can't see more screen time for other characters

...You know, this is most surely extremely old news but... I kind of just noticed that Astolfo and Jeanne both have that extremely long braid.

Yeah I retract all my attempts at defending Apo before the anime. It's bad.
It had some cool moments, I'll give it that. It also had some decent ideas, but executed them insanely poorly. That basically sums it up.
I don't know what to feel for the ending. But I'm glad the good Black Masters all survived in the end. And the fact that Apo Waver still summoned Iskandar in a war is really nice.
Oh the Red Factions' final moment is p nice I guess.
Lol at the Last Episode ripoff tho.

Something
This ending was exactly how I wanted 2017 to end. Warm, comfy, happy. 2017 wasn't a good year, but its end was ok.
One comment from me... Apocrypha is a degraded version of Fate Route...
It takes everything you hate from Fate and throws away everything you love from Fate Route...
Cliche this and that... yes it is heartwarming but it is not my cup of tea... Jeanne and Sieg just do not have the same chemistry with Saber and Shirou IMHO
i ship Jeanne and me. That's it

Overall this was pretty average.
I was gonna call it bad at first, but I actually got some decent enjoyment from the fights scenes from the past few episodes, so I can't call it a complete waste of time.
My main problem with this is that none of the characters feel particularly memorable. Like I find most of them have at least some likeable traits, but I can watch a random episode of some other action series and I'd probably feel the same. They just don't stand out in any particular way and it's not like the overall plot is interesting enough to make up for this.
So yeah, average. Probably would have dropped it a while ago if it wasn't a Fate thing though.
Listening to the OST on its own, and man, it's such an underrated OST. Tracks like "Invasion", "Ambition" and "Savior" just overflow with epicness. The main theme is also amazing, plain and simple.
These really reminded me of F/SN 2006's OST of Gil and Saber, where you just feel that, yes, this is how a theme of a Hero of legend should sound like.
"Savior", in particular, keeps giving me goosebumps, geez.
Apocrypha right now has my second favorite Fate OST after Zero and tied with F/SN 2006.

I'm pretty glad that they don't add something like dubstep
