What Servant category would modern heroes fall under anyway?
Caster aside (in Nasuverse there could be magical heroes but not IRL), it's pretty much Archer or Assassin, right? Since no one brings swords to a gun fight except in the movies, and modern tactics consists of shooting the other guy without him seeing you...
I've had this one on me for some time now but I figure now is a good time to show it:
King Midas
Class: Caster
Alignment: Lawful Good
Gender: Male
Strength: D
Endurance: C
Agility: C
Prana: A
Luck: A
Noble Phantasm: B
Class Skills:
Territory Creation (C+): Capable of producing magical workshops, albeit not at a very high level. Also capable of creating powerful bounded fields.
Item Creation: Rank (C): This skill is not very applicable to King Midas, and is instead more an aspect gained from his renowned gold touch. He is however, very skilled in the creation of complex guards and knots, evidenced by his creation of the Gordius Knot.
Personal Skills:
Golden Rule (A+): In his life, King Midas was born poor, but throughout his life he was eventually crowned king of Pessinus and earned his city a prosperous wealth of gold. At this rank, Money problems are completely unknown, and one is so wealthy they may be able change the values in entire economies.
Divinity (C): In some versions of the myth, King Midas is regarded as the son of the goddess Cybele. This qualifies him for this low rank of Divinity.
Riding (C): Known for riding the early version of the war chariot/wagon, Gordius Wheel, this skill has mostly dropped due to having abandoned it in his early days to his duties as the king.
Noble Phantasms:
“The Incurable Curse” – The Golden Thumb(B): The thumb on King Midas’s right hand. It is made of pure gold and has the power to turn anything it touches into gold, excluding King Midas. Using his thumb he can essentially enchant any object into a gold version of itself, equivalent to a D rank noble phantasm, and increased durability. Any entities with a prana ranking of C and under shall be turned completely into gold with physical contact. B and A ranks result in partial corruption and a rank down in physical parameters, and only a high prana ranking with a high magic resistance can fully resist it's effects. Also, objects turned into gold can be turned into Broken Phantasms. This Noble Phantasm is always active, and costs no prana.
“The All Healing Waters” - Pactolus (B): A special bounded field that Midas can produce. Out from it, rushes the holy waters of Pactolus, capable of instantly undoing curses and enchantments, although stronger ones will take some time. While this Noble Phantasm is activated, the Golden Thumb cannot be used. The water of Pactolus are also completely immune to any alteration.
“The Unsolvable Knot” – Gordius Wheel(B+): Since Midas was the original owner he can summon the body of this chariot. However, it lacks the divine bulls of Zeus, and is not as modified for becoming a war chariot. It still possesses the ability to shock people with the divine lightning of Zeus and fly, but is instead piloted by two, well trained horses, and thus is much weaker to frontal attacks.
Having a gun-user show up as a Saber for some reason seems about par for the course.
I feel if I don't ask it might get swept up in the current discussion, what did you guys think about Midas? Is he too broken or was he well balanced? Also it was surprising to me to find out that he was the one who gave Iskander Gordius Wheel.
Edit:
Midas seems pretty neat. I wonder how he'd work in combat, since he has to touch things to actually get his NP working though, so I have a hard time actually imagining his fighting style as a Caster. The gold touch sounds like it'd work like Lancelot's Knight of Honor, but without the ability to actually exploit it directly due to Casters having a hard time getting in close or really fighting.
...Then again, all he has to do is touch you and most Servant classes bar Saber are done, so maybe that's for the best.

Hrm... I've been trying to get this one right for awhile. I'm still not sure I'm happy with him, but hopefully he's appropriately slippery. I'm not sure if I should drop Battle Continuation or not; it's thematic given how he dies, but I don't want to skill overload him.
Servant: Assassin
True Name: Ishikawa Goemon
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Statistics:
Noble Phantasm: D
Strength: C
Endurance: B
Agility: B
Magic: D
Luck: C
Legend:
The legendary outlaw of Feudal Japan, Ishikawa Goemon was a thief who pilfered from rich lords in order to return their riches to the poor. While documented as little more than a common thief in life, after his death Goemon became an incredible folk hero, with stories of his life attributing him the status of a samurai, a ninja, and even a wizard in folk tales and kabuki performances for generations to come.
However, the most famous tale of Goemon is the one that led to his death. Attempting to assassinate the warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Goemon was overheard in the act and sentenced to a public execution along with his entire family by being burned alive in a boiling cauldron. It is said that Goemon held his son above the boiling water even as he died in defiance of his enemies, saving the boy's life at the expense of his own. Yet even that legend is inconsistent and may never have truly occurred - records disagree on everything from the date to the outcome of the execution.
Appearance:
A thoroughly disreputable figure, Assassin's black hair is messily tied into a ponytail, leaving the rest to hang over a scruffy goatee and lazy smirk. Even his clothing is mismatched: he wears an expensive (and likely stolen) dark violet haori over a pair of comparatively more common slacks and a tunic. Two swords are sheathed on opposite sides of his waist, but he almost always keeps one hand occupied by a silver kiseru pipe he constantly smokes, even in combat.
Class Abilities:
Presence Concealment
Rank: C
The capacity to hide one's presence as a Servant. This level is suitable for infiltration, but greatly decreases when any overt action is taken.
Personal Skills:
Disengage
Rank: C
The ability to break away from combat. This has the bonus effect of returning battle conditions to what they were at the beginning of the match.
Caricature
Rank: A
The measure of how exaggerated and distorted a Heroic Spirit's very identity has become. The higher the rank of this skill, the less certain which legends about a hero are "true" and the more malleable their Heroic Spirit becomes. Appropriate skills from his folklore with little historical basis such as Battle Continuation or Ninjitsu can be temporarily acquired at a rank of one less than the rank of this skill due to the belief that Assassin might have possessed them.
Subversive Activities
Rank: B
The talent to reduce the enemy forces in the preliminary stages, before going into battle. An expert of traps. However, the higher is the ranking of this Skill, the more one's spiritual status as a hero declines. It is possible to disable nearly 45% of a total military force before the enemy advances.
Noble Phantasm(s):
Kagebayashi - Cry of the Twin Dragons
Type: Anti-Unit
Rank: D (A)
Kagebayashi is a set of two strangely shaped katana. Normally recognized as a D rank Noble Phantasm with no unusual powers, the two blades are designed to work together in unison to briefly function as a Rank A Noble Phantasm. While no historical basis for this legend exists, Goemon has been depicted in folklore after his death as having stolen these twin swords, which were the treasure of the Ashikaga shogunate and thought to possess great magical power when combined.
Assassin normally chooses to fight with only one of the swords as his blade of choice, relying on his skill and elusive abilities to escape actual confrontation, but his true fighting style when pressed is to wield the blades in perfect synchronicity. The second blade resembles a blunt tuning fork, and striking a target with its blade causes the recipient to resonate at a particular frequency for a few seconds. Anything resonating at this frequency is treated as having a defensive value of zero and may be cut by the first blade at the level of a Rank A Noble Phantasm, allowing Assassin to easily cleave most defenses in a single successive attack after nullifying their guard with the second blade.
The name of this Noble Phantasm is derived from a Kabuki term for the "Hidden Orchestra" and is meant to reference both Goemon's kabuki background as well as being overheard in the act of his one failed assassination in life.

I can no longer see Goemon as being a dude. God damn you, Eiyuu Senki.

I would hold that against it, but from what I saw, it has just enough awesome character designs to counter-balance the silly ones.
Also I want that version of Sir Ywain to be canon as a Rider.
I'm surprised nobody made Beowulf a Servant.
He never sleeps. He never dies.
Battle doesn't need a purpose; the battle is its own purpose. You don't ask why a plague spreads or a field burns. Don't ask why I fight.
Did my Achilles get saved from the old forum? Spent a lot of time on that one.
Ah, you're right about Rider I guess. Berserker... drugs? Heroes on PCP? IS THAT THEIR SECRET
Despite what Nyaruko would have you believe, CQC does not refer to melee combat.Saber and lancer are tougher, yes. But cqc specialists could fit the bill there, in a pinch.
However, I will allow them to go ahead and make a new class for Bruce Lee.

Goemon? Raven? Is that you?
I liked him. I too did not know he was the one who gave Iskander the Gordius Wheel. That was a neat bit of trivia. My only complaint is that his physical stats seemed pretty high for someone who is a Caster and who probably hadn't fought much physically in his life. C Rank END and AGI? I'm not so sure if even Zero Caster had stats like that and he was an actual knight (and should have been summoned as such but Uryuu really botched his summoning).
I like him too. But, damn, he really does have a lot of Personal Skills. My only real question is, what is his wish?
Sort of agreed. I think the silly designs far outn umber the good ones, but I do really like the good ones. Loli-Vlad is adorable.
Anything in particular worth mentioning about that version of Ywain/Yvain other than her being a loli riding a lion (I haven't played the game so I know nothing of her personality if the game even gives her much of one)?
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, they really needed a Class for unarmed heroes like martial artists. Just dumping them into the Assassin Class isn't fair to them. Even heroes who had legendary weapons also had feats of unarmed prowess that were just as impressive as anything they did with a sword or bow.
Maybe Servant Striker or Servant Grappler? Give 'em some barehanded equivalent of Eternal Arms Mastery as a Class Skill and some new Class Skill that boosts their physical stats when fighting an armed foe barehanded. Heck, Gilgamesh and Herc both have impressive barehanded feats, so they'd qualify just as much as martial artists (Gilgamesh wrestled that giant bull; and in at least one version of Herc's legends he defeated the Nemean Lion, with it's hide that was invulnerable to weapons, by grappling the thing and bear-hugging it to death; plus, that thing with him holding up the world for Atlas). Pretty sure Samson would qualify too (his NP would be ripping out his opponent's jawbone and beating the poor schlub to death with it; the cheater).

To G-man: Well the main reason I gave him such a high physical stat is mainly because I figured he was a king and would have had more physical training that way. Also from what I can remember from his legend I think he did hard work much like farming or that kind which is bound to give a body lot's of physical ability over time.
Mmm, since it does come off that way to people, I cut Battle Continuation like I was debating to give him a more manageable amount. I mostly gave him that many because of his fame, but 4 is enough, especially when one does double-duty. I'm kind of writing him up as a Cuchulainn - he doesn't really have a wish of his own he's looking to grant. His desire in life really was just to honestly help people in the most need, even though he comes off as a shifty deadbeat. Thank you for the input.
...And yes, I don't know why, but Raven is literally the only one I could imagine when picturing Ishikawa Goemon. He's just scruffy and loveable enough. ^^;Originally Posted by Apple

Hrm. Beowulf is tempting, though unfortunate that Hrunting's abilities are already set by Archer.
