Biography

When Siddhartha was born, it was predicted that he was destined to become the greatest among all humanity and would one day come to rule the world. In order to assure that this would come to pass, King Śuddhodana confined him to the palace, and made sure he did not want for anything. He was given the best clothing, the best food, the best education, and even the best wife possible, the princess Yasodharā. It was not until the age of 29 that he was finally able to leave his palace and see the city of Kapilavastu. It was during this trip that he saw the suffering of the people; something he had never known before. It was at this moment that a flame was lit in his heart. He vowed that he would do all he could to help others, so that they would not have to feel despair. With his power, he made sure the hungry were fed, that the sick were treated, and that the feeble were cared for. However, despite it all, it was not enough. While he may be alleviating the despair of the people of Kapilavastu, he knew there were more people outside the city that must be suffering. And so, he left, giving up his status, his belongings, and even his family, in the pursuit of helping others. He traveled all across India, helping all he could, wherever it was needed, while also learning the teachings of Asceticism. But he believed the extremes taught by Asceticism were not the proper way, nor were the teachings of the Noble Eightfold Path, and so he forged his own path: the Dharma. His path decided, he found a suitable place: a nice, shady spot beneath a fig tree, beside a river, and he meditated there for 49 days, until he Awakened, and achieved Enlightenment. Renamed as the Buddha, he began his journey anew, to spread his teachings so that he could show humanity the path to Salvation.

It was really fun the way you managed to incorporate her legend in this context and I'm so sure she's gonna join Minamoto's Public Decency Comitee and perhaps even take it over... Scary. (Also, the Lancer jokes? ON POINT. I almost want to thoughtlessly give my 3 points to this one just out of sheer amusement. You're not helping me here, Del.)


Gloriana: Ok listen, I love the Fairy Knight trend so this was already bound to snatch my wig. But then on top of that you craft a convincing case for this Servant in specific? And made me fall in love? WELL DAMN. A Servant who "compels others to look up to them" is such an interesting twist on the month's prompt that I'm inclined to admire the sheet even more out of creativity. Surely not everyone would think of this angle, and kudos for you for that. But the Servant itself also deserves a lot of praise. I particularly liked very much the Skill that denounced the transformation from human to fairy... There was something so horrifying but at the same time, so awe-inspiring in that. Overall, an amazing entry.

Sun Zi: HOLY CRAP. I wish I could talk about everything I loved about this sheet, but then I'd just copy/paste the whole thing. The Servant was already out of the left field (for me at least), so that was so good I love to be taken aback. It also started so amusing and so "predictable", in a lack of a better word... I was like, "yeah I like this Servant" already, sure... But then, that plottwist? My wig is snatched. My breath is taken. My life is yours. Siddhartha Gautama: Oh man oh man, I love this so much. (I also love it when creators star to play around with the forum's code, it births so many unique sheet styles. This one is a cool example that I've not seen a lot.) I have a lot of feelings for this Servant and the many ways he was already done in the past, but this one? This Servant is a cool take on him. It kept his essence while also adding that "Eni spice", as I'd call it. Also, that NP... Of the many things you could've used, I liked what you did there. OH QUIET YOU DROPPED A NOVEL. Honestly, doing it this way is how I STARTED making Fanservants-- designing them for game use. So it felt kind of natural to continue to do it that way, I think it makes them just a bit more interesting and it's fun to come up with coherent kits as it is to actually write the stuff. Call it my niche. She ended up as a support servant with an ST NP, which is interesting. Bring her to help you beat Archer bosses, I guess.

When I read about Mentor and realised he was literally just... a sockpuppet for Athena with no actual notable traits of his own besides being a loser, I realised that it wrote itself. I THOUGHT about going Pretender/Faker, but ultimately decided that if Artemis/"Orion" wasn't one, then neither should Mentor/"Athena" be.

And... like I WASN'T going to give her the skill that's literally the thing she does. I don't give a shit if Chiron had it first, it's HER skill. What else would you expect a teacher goddess of wisdom to have?

Similarly surgeons were far from the cool-headed specialists we admire now; they were simple butchers, sometimes not even doctors in their own right, who performed multiple operations per day without washing their clothing or their instruments in between - not to mention without anesthetics.

However, advances in science would soon advance the field far beyond these primitive measures. The invention of ether as the first surgical anesthetic was the first invention that redefined surgery forever; the second was germ theory.

Ignaz Semmelweiss was born on the first of July in 1818 in Hungary, not far from Budapest. His family was wealthy and prosperous; and the young Semmelweiss decided to study medicine. In 1844, he was awarded the title of doctor of medicine.

On the first of July, 1846, Semmelweiss was appointed as an assistant in the First Obstetrical Clinic of the Vienna General Hospital. His duties were to examine the patients, to supervise difficult deliveries, and to manage the clinic's records. What he found there would change his life forever - and the path of medicine.

What he found was a hotbed of disease, and an absolute den of filth. The hospital had two maternity clinics; the First had about a 10% mortality rate, the Second 4%. This fact was well-known, to the point where women preferred to give birth in the streets rather than be admitted to the First Clinic. That way, they might still enjoy the childcare benefits without risking puerpural fever, also known as childbed fever.

What could explain the different mortality rates? Semmelweiss soon found the answer, inspired by the death of a colleague who died after being poked with an infected scalpel during an autopsy. As germ theory had not yet come to Vienna, he proposed that surgeons carried with them "cadaverial particles", which spread to healthy patients.

Preventing this was as simple as just washing their hands; when he himself did so the death rate in the Clinic diminished quickly, even becoming zero.He proposed this, at length, in a book named Etiology, Concept and Prophylaxis of Childbed Fever, as well as various other publications.

He tried to teach them. Think of the lives that could be saved! The unneeded suffering, eliminated!

Yet he was rejected. Scorned, mocked, gaslit until even his wife believed he was losing his mind. He was threatened into silence, FORCED to resign from his post at the hospital, CONFINED to AN ASYLUM, BEATEN!

He fought back as well as he was able, in the medical journals and the press and his network of contacts, but in the end it all amount to nothing, as his mind cracked under the stress and he broke down, to the point of being committed to a mental institution.

Semmelweis was a practicing physician, who applied his knowledge to live patients and corpses alike, the better to understand the maladies affecting them. He specialized in obstetrics, yes, but he had also applied at a clinic for internal medicine, and of course he possesses all the necessary knowledge one would expect of a fully-qualified doctor, to the point of teaching classes on medicine.

Berserker automatically knows how and where to target the enemy's vitals with extreme precision, increasing the damage dealt.

Medicine A++

Modern medical techniques that surpassed the state of medical science of Semmelweiss' age by decades. Semmelweis' discovery of the effects of proper hygiene was ahead of his time; it would take the germ theory of Louis Pasteur and the pioneering efforts of Joseph Lister to finally propagate the usefulness of proper hygiene, as well as disinfecting the hands. Even these men had to battle for acceptance, though.

Allows Semmelweis to not only make full use of his medical knowledge even in the Berserker Class, but even greatly expands on his knowledge base, allowing him to assume the level of expertise of today's medical field's leading physicians in their field of study. His bedside manner leaves a little to desire, though...

Pioneer of the Stars (Unfulfilled) B

A Skill showing that one could have changed the course of history, but unfortunately failed to do so despite their best efforts. Given the right backing and the right circumstances, Semmelweis could have singlehandedly revolutionized surgery the world over. And yet, he failed to do so, in the end. If his theories had been accepted, then an untold number of lives could have been saved by him and his "students".

Grants a small bonus to attempting the impossible - enough to come achingly close to reaching victory, but normally not enough to claim it.

The fruit of all of Semmelweis' research, sublimated into a Noble Phantasm. Though it is named after a book, it is in fact a gleaming scalpel. Unnaturally clean, the blade is sharp enough to cut bone like it was butter. No matter what it carves through, no stains are ever left on it.

Rather than cutting physical things, though, it is more apt to say that the scalpel carves away "filth" or "disease". When activated, the Noble Phantasm can cut away cancers from inside a patient without ever harming the body and even slice off only those parts of the body suffering from illness. In short, it is a surgeon's dream tool.

But, as a Berserker, Semmelweis' ideas of what constitutes "filth" have changed somewhat. Pride, arrogance, stubbornness - these are things the knife cannot cut away. It is merely a physical implement, after all. And yet, Semmelweis will not stop cutting until he has eliminated every single drop of ignorance...

The idea is that he tried to teach surgeons not to be so absolutely fucking vile (and failed). If you read accounts of Robert Liston, then you'll realize just how bad things were back then. He's the dude with the 300% mortality rate in one operation, fwiw.

Robert Liston was pretty badass but looking back at his old cases (some of which may've been exaggerated though) does show how undeveloped the surgical field at his time was. Overall this is an interesting take on a "medical Berserker" to contrast Nightingale. That Pioneer Of The Stars variant fits him well and I'll keep that concept in mind for certain other figures (like Frederick Burnham; the man who nearly brought hippo farming to America).

As the Age of the Gods wanes, the goddess has chosen to linger on the earthly realm, to fulfill her duty as Protector of the State.

In history, she was recorded as two different women, but in reality they are one and the same individual. Simultaneously, she played two similar, yet polarizing roles in securing the victory of the Kingdom of Yue against the State of Wu.

As Xi Shi, one of the Four Beauties of China, she enfeebled the King of Wu, and sowed internal discord as a double agent, while as Yuenu, she trained the Yue soldiers and in swordsmanship and the art of war, which allowed them to crush the Wu army.

Masks one’s presence as a Servant. This is the rank obtained through the use of her Noble Phantasm. Using a technique she developed as the Dark Lady of the Nine Heavens, Assassin utilizes the Six Ding Jade Maidens to attain true invisibility in order to fulfill her role as Protector of the State.

A Taoist method of controlling the flow and ebb of qi within the body, which can be applied to either combat or sexual intercourse. The gates called Yin and Yang open and close, bringing to the fore either life or death. It is the specialty of the heavenly goddess that embodies the unity between killing and giving life, of conflict and reproduction, of beauty and strength. After all, love and war are the two sides of the same coin.

With this skill, it is possible for Assassin to switch between “combat mode Yuenu” and “lover mode Xi Shi”. As a combat technique, it is somewhat similar to the modern saying of “floating like a butterfly, stinging like a bee” and if deployed properly, can even reach the firepower of a top-class Noble Phantasm.

Swordsmanship of the Yue Maiden: A+
The first sword technique in Chinese history, taught by Yuenu to the top generals and soldiers of Guojian of Yue. It is said to be the inspiration and source of all subsequent sword techniques in all of China.

To Assassin herself, this sword technique is nothing more than the byproduct of the Nameless Gates. Aside from peerless swordsmanship characterized by a flawless combination of offense and defense, to her it possesses no special effect that she does not already have. However, this technique can be taught to others, weak or strong, regardless of experience, provided they are willing to endure the arduous training. In addition, those who successfully learned this skill directly from Assassin will receive "Protection of the Mysterious Lady", which attunes their vital elements, enhance their regenerative ability, and bestows them, purportedly, longevity.

Drowning Beauty: A
The extreme beauty of one of the Four Beauties of China, Xi Shi, which was said to cause fish to be so dazzled they forget how to swim and sink. Weaponized against a kingdom, this same beauty could make a king forget his responsibilities and drown with his kingdom. It is also said, according to a famous idiom, that Xi Shi’s true beauty could only be shown while she is in pain or distressed. In essence, it is a Mystic Face of Paralysis that is only available when Assassin shows moments of weakness or vulnerability. As long as the effect of this ability is active, the successfully bewitched targets will have their cognition slowly dissolved, causing them to forget how to perform basic actions and skills, even breathing, and eventually suffocate to death.

Lady of the Nine Heavens: C
A title worn by four ancient goddesses once worshipped together long ago; Xuan Nu the Dark Lady, Su Nu the Pure Lady, Yu Nu the Jade Lady, and Cai Nu the Colorful Lady. They serve the Queen Mother of the West as disciples and inherits her authorities as the embodiment of the Yin. As the other three fades into obscurity with the end of the Age of the Gods, through certain circumstances, Xuannu, being the eldest and most famous, ended up absorbing the other three's role and authority.

While the original Divine Authority is lost as the result of the Servant itself being her earthly incarnation, Assassin still possesses her essential abilities and the goddess’ absoluteness of body and mind. Functionally the same as a Divine Core of the Goddess.

A way of attaining perfect invisibility using the movements of celestial bodies and one's affinity with Nothingness. A rift of the void is opened by commanding the stars, and while enshrouded within it, Assassin not only conceals her physical body, but also her destiny, fortune, and even her Yin and Yang. In this state, her Luck parameter is entirely nullified. This invisibility effect can also be applied to others.

In essence, it is a Noble Phantasm that causes a guaranteed divine retribution which grows stronger in scale the more unfavorable the allies’ situation is. The Great Philosopher, Aristotle. At his core, he is a man who values logic before all other factors. Stubbornly rationalistic, inherently skeptical, he attempts to place himself as both a subject and a predicative at the same time; both subject and observer. From the standpoint of the subject, Aristotle understands the minds of men; in the standpoint of the objective, Aristotle understands the minds of gods.
The sort of perspective that can make one cry from how contradictory it is.

Even if the path to paradise requires one to march through hell, Aristotle supports such views. Unity, the suppression of "Barbarians" and integration of their people into a greater nation of Greece, that is what Aristotle sought from Alexander the Great. The more people under one banner, the more a sense of uniformity can be produced. Through uniform policy and ruling, the masses can be enlightened and made wise with efficient education. The more people know, the greater speed innovation can occur with, and thus, the quality of life for everyone can improve.
A self-fueling cycle that will lead everyone to a satisfied happiness, with progress moving at unprecedented rates. That is the sort of future Aristotle wishes to see from humanity.

For this reason, Aristotle both loves and hates the modern world. To the Philosopher, it is a contradiction which sparks both joy and disgust.
Even two thousand years after his death, humans still cannot form a singular nation to bring an equal quality of life to all.
But there exists the means for a greater quality of life, and thus the means for the infinite cycle of humanity's ascension into the stars.

Time really slipped away from me and I had to hail Mary rush this out. I'm not really that satisfied with the end product, and I'll probably revisit this at a later time and revise it.
My muse simply wasn't present for this one.
Additionally; i think i went a little too heavy handed with the notes references. at least they sound good. The intention is to use the apocalyptic Notes products to produce an air of dread and despair, to invoke into the reader the idea of Aristotle being as fatalistic as Archimedes and longing for the events of Notes, then to relieve the tension with the reveal that he truly wants to see humanity prosper and go into a bright future. But the bubble has yet to break the surface tension. This Singularity is there, yet not physically due to space-time curvature. It is on our surface, but our texture is still above it. Id, Ego and Super-Ego
The Id is the instinctual component of personality that is present at birth and is the source of bodily needs and wants, emotional impulses and desires, especially aggression and the libido. The id acts according to the pleasure principle — the psychic force oriented to immediate gratification of impulse and desire — defined by the avoidance of pain. It is a “great reservoir” of mental energies that drive people.
The Ego acts according to the reality principle; i.e., it seeks to please the id's drive in realistic ways that, in the long term, bring benefit, rather than grief. An example would be to resist the urge to grab other people's belongings, but instead to purchase those items.
The Super-Ego reflects the internalization of cultural rules, mainly taught by parents applying their guidance and influence. While developing the Super-Ego also takes on the influence of those who have stepped into the place of parents — educators, teachers, people chosen as ideal models.

Eros, Libido, Thanatos and Death Drive
Inside the Id are various drives that influence humanity. They can be categorized as Eros and Thanatos, whereas Thanatos wasnt named by Freud. Eros is the sum of all drives that are life-affirming. They are all the drives that allow the continuation of the individual and the species as a whole. Hunger, Thirst, Sex, Pain Avoidance, Cooperation etc. are things that can be traced back to the Eros. Nowadays simplified as a word to describe the sexual drive, the Libido is the energy resulting from the Eros.
Opposed to that is Thanatos or how Freud called it simply: the Death Drives. They are the reason for our destructive tendencies. Aggression towards the self or others, enjoying the suffering of others, seeing destruction, the inner wish to cut all ties. That is what the Death Drives are, the drives that are death-affirming. The resulting energy is sometimes called Destrudo or Mortitudo. Their origin is claimed to be the wish of the animate matter to return to the state of inanimate matter, one may compare it to the law of energy conservation or overall entropy.
The concept of wishing for your own destruction seems foreign to us, but why do we enjoy tragic stories? Why do we watch in awe at catastrophes? Why do we enjoy drinking and smoking to an unhealthy amount?

Oedipus Complex
The infamous Oedipus Complex is a theory of Freud, that during the development of children they start a rivalry with one parent for the affection of the other parent. This happens in the development stage called the Phallic Phase, in which children fully realize they have sexes, which changes their view on their relationship with their parents. In the heterosexual case (back then named 'positive') boys vied for the mothers love over their father. But the father is stronger and after realizing that girls to not have penises, they fear the father for taking away their genitals ('castration anxiety'). Instead of open rivalry they start imitating the father to obtain a part of the love the mother has for them. By doing so the boys develop their Super-Ego by accepting the morals and standards of their father. After girls notice they do not have a penis, they wish for one and the father's specifically ('penis envy'). They start antagonizing the mother, who they see as the reason for the missing piece, but in the end allies herself with her out of fear of losing her love. She then develops her Super-Ego from her mother similar to the boys from their father. This is also called Electra-Complex for girls, but Freud himself was against this name.

An Avenger Class Skill, representing the state of an Avenger as one that gathers people's hatreds and grudges onto oneself. It is easier for one to accumulate hatred and resentment. The rate of mana generation becomes higher when receiving damage.
His theories were so widely accepted that they were embedded in the human thinking of the western world as if they were only natural and ever present. So the only thing left to discuss about Avenger were his flaws.
Through Delusion Trigger he can accumulate even more negative emotions and through Todestrieb can generate more Mana with above average efficiency. Therefore it can even exceed rank B in certain situations.

A Lover Class Skill. Granted through Innocent Monster.
A skill depicting Avenger’s ability to overlook the true nature of a loved one while maintaining an idealized image of her lover. A low rank because everyone is a 'loved one' in so far he sees them all as just his potential sexual partners. Once his sexual desire is satisfied, he discards his partner. A twisted view of the world, tinged in passionate red and aggressive crimson.

"Ideal, eternal love, purged of all hatred, exists only between the addict and his drug."

Object of Desire D+
A Lover Class Skill. Granted through the effects of Delusion Trigger.
A skill connected to the feelings of love and obsession which this Servant inspires in someone else. It functions as a passive charm skill on the level of a mental attack. So much as being in the same place as a Lover Servant can incite feelings of affection, obsession, protectiveness and lust.
His theories of the Oedipus Complex bleeding into reality made him a target of affection.

A skill for those that float within the Unlit Depths, are one with the Subconsciousness or are familiar with it's ways.
A Skill that is neither Presence Concealment or Information Erasure, yet something similar.
His being is there, it is confirmed, tangible, visible, present, still…how can he roam around unnoticed?
Avenger can momentarily slip in and out of your unconscious and memory almost at will, fueling his Oblivion Correction skill.
But can a psychologist really reach such depths of the Human Mind? How is it possible?

Innocent Monster C
An attribute possessed by Servants whose true history and existence have been distorted by the monstrous reputations and gossips they accrued across the course of their life and thereafter, without concern for the actual person's will or appearance. As a consequence, the Servant's abilities and appearance have been rendered to conform to the specifications of their legend. Incidentally, this Personal Skill cannot be removed.

Aftern his theories became famous, oversimplification and misconstruction followed. Sexual and aggressive aspects of his theories are emphasized in his personality, even distorting his own perception on them.
The resulting personal delight in sexual pleasures granted him a low rank in Infatuation.
For unexplained reasons Avenger has a strange eye, wounded, gleaming with malicious anger. His gaze pierces the darkness like a shark in the sinister seas.

granted to those who possess abnormally warped views of the world around them, allowing their delusions to bleed into reality and affect their surroundings, potentially inciting cases similar to mass hysteria. In most cases, those who possess this Skill are completely unaware of it, due to how strongly their delusions are intertwined with their identities and how they view the world around them. This means that they have little control over this power, and may occasionally become a danger to both themselves and others. Its effects may vary based on user and rank.

The "shared delusion" of Avenger are his own theories, that were in part reshaped by his Innocent Monster Skill.
The theories that bleed into the world and influence the behavior of the masses are the Id and Super-Ego and the Oedipus Complex.
The effect surrounds two concepts:
First, the unconscious governs people's behavior.
Second, he becomes the Super-Ego defining authority figure for those affected as the center of this effect, passively weakening the people's own Super-Ego.
Both have far reaching effects.
His belief that people act according to the Id/Libido is nowadays oversimplified as "our motivation is only sex", despite his definition of it being a natural self-preserving drive. This distortion leads to the people around Avenger to act more towards their 'Pleasure Principle' (compulsive pleasure seeking). With the amplified aspects of sexuality in his theories, the surrounding people act accordingly and want attention, affection and sex. Childlike behavior of the masses.

"Children are completely egoistic; they feel their needs intensely and strive ruthlessly to satisfy them."

This interacts with the second concept.
Avenger becomes an authority figure in that state, a 'Father Figure', which activates the Oedipus Complex.
Being a father for males makes him a competitor for the affection of the 'Mother', a 'sexual rival'. This leads to amplified aggression towards him, further fueling his Avenger Skill.
For females the effect is that they are vying for his affection, forming something like a harem around Avenger over time - further inciting the men's ire.
Together with the heightened aggressiveness due to acting more according to one's Id, a hostile environment, in which all males are combative towards the other, is created.
But the effects develop further, just like the Oedipus Complex proposes.

Because the Oedipus Complex is influenced by sexuality, gender roles can be reversed.
To avoid, one needs skills that resist charming or aggression inducing effects. Defense Mechanisms

Protections of what makes us Us

Defense Mechanisms are the weapons of the unconscious to protect itself from harm. What could hurt the inner World is defended against through certain protocols, which reflect it back unto the outer world through behavior. It is protected by layers upon layers of them to bandage the barely healing wounds of the past and the core of our personality. Each time we believe we got to the ocean floor of the inner machinations of our psyche, it unveils another, yet deeper abyss in our minds. That is crystallized as Avenger's power.
His mantle represents these layers that protect the mind, the metaphorical boundary between us and the world. A curtain of wavering darkness, ever moving, ever shifting in its given form, enveloping Avenger. Mental Attacks directed at him are defended against by the Defense Mechanisms of it to various effects.
These effects are vaguely fitted to Freuds proposed 12 Defense Mechanisms. All revolve around the basic principle of shoving the Mental Attacks into the subconscious, where they do no severe harm to Avenger, for different benefits or detriments.
Which defense mechanism activates is random and without Avenger's control. Effects intended to grant mental boons are treated as attacks too, but to a lower degree. So while he has an extraordinary degree of Mental Attack Resistance, he has a high resistance to boons as well.
These effects are not strict cancellations. Avenger's own subconscious will store and decompose them, but it takes time. Depending on the strength of the mental attack, this can be several hours to days. But conversely, despite the strength of this ability, it can overload with too many repressed attacks on his mind. When this happens all effects strike at once and have the threat of shattering his mind or sense of self.

Freudian Defense Mechanisms:

Compensation results in a temporary rank up in a random skill.
Denial temporarily prevents to be target of the same effect again.
Displacement reflects effect stronger towards an ally.
Identification copies the mental state of someone nearby instead.
Introjection accepts the attack and takes full effect.
Projection redirects the effect to a foe.
Rationalization allows Avenger to explain why this effect has no effect on his mind.
Reaction Formation creates the opposite effect as intended.
Regression is regressing to a state before the attack happened. A mental time jump.
Repression is the movement of the attack towards his subconscious, neither negating it, nor not being affected, simplest version without other effects, symbolizing it as the most basic Defense Mechanism on which the rest are build upon.
Undoing lowers the opponents next attack considerably.
Sublimation buffs a Parameter of Avenger instead.

Words were the tools of Sigmund Freud, with only words he explored the dark corners of the human psyche; with only his questions as the light that illuminated his path towards cognizance.
They are crystallized as his Noble Phantasm. The words of psychologists that carved a way to understand ourselves as an intelligent species are now shining psionic weapons.
Therefore each wound they inflict doubles as a Mental Attack and Mental Resistances are needed to lower their effectiveness.
This Noble Phantasm is basically the Psychology Skill of Freud in other classes turned to rank EX. This includes Understanding of the Human Body and Torture Technique (Mental), which both increase physical and psychological damage the weapons deal slightly.
Because the weapons are his own words, they can not physically harm him, but retain their aspects as Mental Attacks. Therefore he can direct the weapons at himself and trigger the effect of his Defense Mechanism Noble Phantasm, but he only uses it in emergencies.
Strange, isn't it? How could he raise his knowledge and abilities to such levels?

Avenger also used the same words to firmly oppose religion. He described religion as an "illusion" and compared it to a 'childhood neurosis'. He described how religion seems welcoming and warm, but as the opposite when not part of it. In his eyes it is all just childish wish fulfillment. People choose to believe in gods, because they just see a powerful father-figure that can grant his children security and absolvement of sin. This Noble Phantasm deals a bit more damage towards Divine Spirits, but their existence opposes Avenger's world view and they deal more damage to him in return.

Sigmund Freud was born on May 6th 1856 in the Austrian Empire, modern day Czech Republic. The atheistic Jew qualified as a doctor of medicine in 1881 in Vienna and later became an professor in 1885. A year later he opened his clinical practice and stayed in Vienna until 1938, when he fled to the UK to avoid the Nazi persecution.
Freud is credited as the founding father of psychoanalysis and is best known for his redefinition of Sexuality and his formulation of the Oedipus Complex. His other best known works and theories revolve around Dreams, the existence of the Libido, the id, ego and super-ego, the defense mechanisms and the death-drive. His theories nowadays decline in modern practices, but his work shaped Western thought and the understanding of the human mind.
During life he became the Father of Psychoanalysis, but as a Jew in his time and him spearheading a new scientific approach, he had problems establishing it. He needed pupils so his child the Psychoanalysis could be recognized and grow beyond his own limited lifespan. He had several prolific pupils that would carve their own way through the unexplored lands of the human mind. Some would stay under his tutelage, others would leave or were...encouraged to leave. The most famous are Alfred Adler, John Bowlby, Viktor Frankl, his own daughter Anna Freud, Ernest Jones, Melanie Klein, Jacques Lacan, Fritz Perls, Otto Rank, Wilhelm Reich and most notably
Carl Jung.
They started a correspondence, which developed into a close friendship. Freud saw Jung as his ideal heir, who will inherit his new science. (Jung being an aryan male was helpful at the time to strengthen the legitimacy of his science during an antisemitic climate) He even appointed Jung the lifetime president of the International Psychoanalytical Foundation he himself founded. But Freud was stubborn and wanted his pupils to follow his doctrine and Jung would research and conclude other things. They disagreed and the Great Mentor and Pupil had a schism that would not close until Freuds death, with Jung's conception of the Collective Unconscious as the tipping point. Jung would go on and become his own Father, the Father of Analytical Psychology. In Freud's eyes, Jung betrayed him and his field.
In the end one might argue that he was a bad teacher and mentor, but one can not deny that he taught all of us to look into ourselves.

Pretender Freud Id

At the dawn of our planet there were two Primordial Gods. One represented Chaos in the form of the Abyss itself. The depths of the ocean, the sea water which embraces the world from all sides. She was the great Creator and Mother Goddess Tiamat. And at her side stood Abzu, the Cosmic Order. Abzu was the physical manifestation of the fertile fresh water that resides deep within the earth, acting as the foundation of both the earth that swam on top of it and the ocean that was his consort.
Abzu as the first begetter fertilized Tiamat and made her 'a mother' and himself 'a father'. 'Love' took root in the world, but Abzu was not affected. He did not father out of love, it is just his purpose. He creates with the lap of Tiamat and with his Primordial Words. Affection towards them had no part in it. When the deed was done and the world started to settle, he rested. But the first gods were loud, immature, disobedient. Nothing could calm them down, not allowing rest. The First Father's patience grew thin and together with his first child Mummu, who acted as his vizier, he plotted to kill all the gods, despite Tiamat's disapproval. The children noticed and plotted in return. A war broke out between Abzu and all the gods he himself created. It would finally end after Enki cast a powerful spell which put Abzu into deep slumber. Only then could Enki kill him.
Abzu died, but his rage and power lived on. As a primordial aspect of the world itself he could not truly die. His essence returned to the Earth and became part of Gaia. But Gaia is the will of the Earth and the gods, which Abzu learned to hate. His eternal hate kept going until it was a small separate pocket of the will of nature itself, opposing it. A will that harbors the essence of the first begetter and the first emotion of aggression. A will on which the first independent consciousnesses that reared their heads in the world attached to. These beings would then become the first humans, which used this basis to not be born as blank slates.
Yes, Abzu is the most primal thing in the world. Abzu became the Id of the

itself. And that is what Pretender is - Freud Id.

Pretenders version of his Noble Phantasm. In the ancient myth of Mesopotamia it was told that one of the reasons why Marduk was crowned King of the Gods was because he could speak magic words. They identified this ability with the makings of a King, like their Divine Father Abzu. It was needed to rule over the world after they killed him, the cosmic order. Pretender can manifest his own inner words in form of darker versions of his Avenger Blades. A strange dark blue color reminiscent of the reflections of the deepest waters, from the Sea of Dawn of the Primordial World. They still have the same effects. Because Abzu is a part of everyones subconscious his attacks double as Mental Attacks like before. Pretender can not tell you what to do, but he has enough insight to 'know what Class you fear' and can choose with which weapon or concept they can attack you with for an optimal matchup. This allows him to affect his perceived Class like other Pretenders.

What is a Mother's love in evolution? It is not love, it is instinct. Animals leave their children for dead in the wild all the time. Be it eating them or throwing them before predators to safe their own skin. It is logical. Their worth as one that can bear is higher than one that still needs to grow and survive to get to that age. Still, we call it love for the lack of other romantic words and anthropomorphize the Fauna of our world. But it is not love. Tiamat did not love us, she did not love you or me, she loved humanity, not humans. It was not Love, it was instinct. Love was never needed to become a Beast. Humans just needed to prove useful for us one way or another.

There are several paths leading to the Crown of Beast II, the Beast of Regression.
There is the path of Devolution, an Evolutionary Regression, that is the path of Tiamat. A sin that returns humanity back to it's very first roots as a species, removing even their physical status as 'human'.
There is the road of Rejuvenation, a Bodily Regression. A sin that allows humanity to wallow in eternal youth, preventing the concept of progression, because no one evolves.
There is the route of Derangement, a Mental Regression. A sin that regresses the human mind to that of immature children, degrading humanity to a state of primitives, only led by the most primal drives, losing their psychological status as 'human'.

Freud Id received his Beast Candidacy through Mental Regression.

“The primitive stages can always be re-established; the primitive mind is, in the fullest meaning of the word, imperishable.”



If Pretender is allowed to expand inside the Human Unconscious as 'Father', he becomes the de facto Super-Ego of all of humanity. The higher presence that controls our morals. He would become the Absolute Authority over the species, replacing whole aspects of Alayashiki. He would become the First Father of Ancient Times.

“The intention that man should be happy is not in the plan of Creation.”

But he is unable to be a true Father. He wants the title and rightful place, but doesnt love us like a real parent would. Just the Archetypical Tyrannical Father who does not care about us as individuals. He would be the omnipresent Super-Ego, who has no expectations of us. In Freudian terms that would mean there is no counter balance to the emotional Id. Through his rising power Delusion Trigger, or rather Anti-Human Order in this form, becomes even more powerful, further degrading the emotional and moral balance of humanity. Thereby the Ego of each person slowly becomes one with the Id itself.
This practical decommissioning of the three aspects of our psyche, from which each personality is born, is the basis for Beast II's ability:
Nega-Individuation.
An ability that prevents individuals from becoming more than just the 'child', the ability to become true individuals with our own strengths and flaws, which would ultimately lead to the first societies. Beast would force them to stay the 'eternal son' with his presence alone.

“The liberty of the individual is no gift of civilization. It was greatest before there was any civilization.”

But how can a Father incapable of Love for humanity become a Beast? That is the part of Freud alone.

“Psychoanalysis is in essence a cure through love.”

Despite his quirks, Freud deeply loved humanity. He wanted to cure them of the demons that fed upon their souls.
Freud Id may be distorted, but this aspect still partly resides inside his Spirit Origin. One may compare it to fellow Beast Candidate Koyanskaya of Light, in that the mental illnesses of people are what keep his 'creation' alive and are therefore good for 'business'.
But his Id side also wants his rest, therefore he wants to cure humanity of all their problems at once if he is prevented from killing them all.
Freud Id thinks most psychological problems humans have came from growing up, becoming adults. With adulthood comes freedom, but also responsibility, which again weigh heavy on our frail shoulders, dragging us deeper into the mud of our psyche. It is therefore only logical to deduce, that humanity was the happiest as children and that all problems would just go away if they become children again mentally.
A dangerous blend of not being allowed to be children and be prevented from staying adult.
A demonic combination of not caring for humanity and not allowing humanity to care for themselves.
A devilish union of tyrannical and caring Father.
A contradiction between love and indifference for humanity like Beast III/L possessed.

“Most people do not really want freedom, because freedom involves responsibility, and most people are frightened of responsibility."

Overall, if Beast II Tiamat was humanities challenge to not return to the Mother's Womb and grow up as a species, then Beast II Freud Id is the challenge to stay adults.

tl,dr: Beast II's presence alone is enough to degrade each human back to a child, by letting them act according to the immature and uncontrolled impulses. He as an uncaring father prevents them from growing up by removing any expectations laying on them.
