Kerí Psychís
Smoldering Sting Of Love
(B, Anti-Unit)
Lancer's Noble Phantasm and sole weapon is a simple waxen candle of the finest quality, lengthened and fashioned into the shape of a spear. A solitary flame blooms at the tip, burning inexhaustibly without need of fuel. It is the very same candle that in legend spilt burning wax on the shoulder of her divine lover Eros, dealing an agonizing wound which symbolized the broken trust between them.
Having dealt an excruciating wound that temporarily shattered the love between Lancer and her godly husband, this Noble Phantasm carries both the concepts of "
affliction" and "
severing magical bonds", entwining the effects of a certain Celtic spearman's lance and Colchian princess' dagger. Despite its seeming frailty, strikes from her weapon will inflict scorching wounds that burn into the target's central nervous system, corroding their spiritual essence from within. Much like the pain of lost love, injuries left by this spear continually grow and fester- defying treatment both mundane and magical. Even the healing arts of Apollo prove helpless to soothe them.
Secondly, those stricken by her
will find their ability to supply Mana to outside sources severely crippled. Bounded Fields and Reality Marbles quickly lose stability and collapse, while familiars or magical constructs such as those created through Projection Magic crumble away like sand without Mana to support their existence. However the contract binding Masters and Heroic Spirits is exempt from this, being upheld by the Greater Grail itself.
The only boon that can heal the damage dealt by this Noble Phantasm is "
the power of love" in Lancer's words. Spending time with one they love more than anything will slowly alleviate the injuries of the afflicted, making them more responsive to treatment and healing Magecraft. Just as Eros finally recovered from his lovesickness upon reuniting with Lancer, so too does the presence of one's sweetheart work wonders in tending to the torrid wounds of passion.
It should be noted that Lancer herself is just as vulnerable to the effects of her Noble Phantasm and thus must exercise great care in handling it.
Persefóni Katára
Concealed Curse Of Slumber
(A, Anti-Team)
The box supposedly full of magical beauty which Lancer retrieved from the queen of the underworld Persephone as her final task to prove herself worthy of marrying Eros. However, Persephone- who bore a long-standing rivalry with Aphrodite- had infused the box not with beauty but a potent curse from the underworld itself, bringing eternal slumber to any who opens it.
By an unfortunate twist of fate, its curse instead befell Lancer herself. Beset by self-doubt on the final leg of her journey, she sought to use the box to rejuvenate her own disheveled appearance from months of wandering the wilderness of Greece. Instead an infernal sleep overcame Lancer, placing her in a deep and unmoving torpor. Only the last-second intervention of Eros himself who pled with the gods to have Lancer converted to one of their own saved her from an untimely and miserable end.
That box is Lancer's second Noble Phantasm, still bearing the somnolent curse from when she originally received it. A beautiful box fit for a goddess, made of wood with delicate golden trim. Once opened, the box belches forth foul Stygian mist- the essence of the underworld- that forms a cloud over her surroundings, extending roughly ten feet in all directions before dissipating. Those within that range must pass a Luck check, else they fall into a deep and irrecoverable slumber. Once affected, the target immediately loses all consciousness and their bodily functions will gradually shut down- essentially undergoing the process of death in slow motion.
Only a powerful healing Noble Phantasm or Magecraft at the level of the gods can rouse the target from their dark sleep. By its nature as a curse this Noble Phantasm can also be guarded against by
Magic Resistance, providing a chance of recovery with rank A or higher negating the mist's effect entirely.
While this Noble Phantasm is powerful it is also indiscriminate, posing just as much danger to Lancer herself or her allies. Flinging it open and then running like Hell is the most straightforward option, but even that is obviously risky. The best option would be if Lancer could someone trick the opponent into opening the box themselves while she is safely outside its area-of-effect. However few participants in the Grail War would be so foolish as to open a gift bestowed by an enemy, while Lancer is too honorable to pull such a trick on one who has already earned her trust.
Once its contents are unleashed, this Noble Phantasm is wholly emptied and becomes nothing more then a mundane box without phantasmal properties.
