See now, it's shit like this that makes people fascinated with serial killers. Disturbing af? Yes. Fascinating? Also yes.

And nope, still breathing. I'm just in summer college courses and dealing with family shenanigans, so I can and will disappear for extended periods of time.

Sorry to say this but I stole one of chem24’s skills while making this sheet, but you were complaining there weren’t enough Pope Servants so… is (super-wanked) Archbishop close enough? This seems somewhat obnoxious of me, as nobody else has posted any sheets recently, sorry. Still got the problem with the font as well. It's not my best sheet but please feel free to leave your criticisms of it, then I can leech away your good ideas.

    Servant Identity

    Servant Class: Ruler
    True Name: Anselm d’Aosta
Aliases: Saint Anselm, Anselm of Canterbury
    Alignment: Lawful Good
    Alternate Classes: Caster, Rider

    Parameters:
    Strength- E
    Agility- E
    Endurance- D
    Mana- A
    Luck- C
    Noble Phantasm- EX

Personality: Ruler initially comes across as a kindly ageing teacher, going out of his way to help others he is a very considerate and tactful individual. He can be reserved and contemplative and if left to his own devices would likely decide to write or see to some matter where he believes he can do good, a perfect candidate for the Ruler class he has a strong sense of duty that is what pushed him to become an Abbot and then Archbishop, when he would much rather have been some manner of Hermit or reserved Monk. He isn’t necessarily humble, but he is not prideful rather he has a good estimation of his own ability, perceiving himself as a “good thinker” as such the roles of Abbot and Archbishop were ones he was right to take.

Despite his usually quiet and duty-bound disposition Ruler will sometimes become sly and ill-tempered if he sees something he deems quite amoral, especially from those in positions of power. Often he will stick to the sidelines of the Grail War but if he believes a person of villainous intent would take the Grail he will begin to gather Servants to his side, or seek to crush this foe at the most opportune moment. Otherwise he has no interest in the Grail War like most Ruler Servants, although he will usually keep a close eye on the events of the war he may take his time helping ordinary civilians or writing.

Ruler makes a point of reminding Master’s that they have a responsibility to their Servant, to treat them with dignity and try to aid them in their goal as well as their own. Chastising those who he would describe as “fools” he is secretly disappointed that he would be unlikely to appear in other Grail wars due to the missing nature of his relics.

    Background

Monk, Abbot, Archbishop and then Saint. Some would say that Saint Anselm had a very successful career in the Church. Born close to Aosta in Upper Burgundy information on Anselm’s childhood is barebones, he would likely have come from a background of dispossessed nobility but there is little else that we can comment on. It was at the age of 27 that Anselm joined the Benedictine Abbey of Bec, here he wrote on philosophy and was influenced by the monastic tradition of the Benedictines. Three years later, despite being only 30, Anselm became the Abbot of Bec. He was lauded as a sagacious and effective Abbot, maintaining Bec’s financial and ecclesiastical independence and security, under his guidance Bec became a beacon of learning throughout Europe and students came from all across the continent to study at the Abbey. It was at this time, while defending the Abbey from the political maneuverings of both the Archbishops and the Nobility, that he wrote some of his greatest philosophical works including the Monologion, Proslogion and a compilation of dialogues.

Making a name for himself not only as a kindly Abbot but as a wise Theologian and Philosopher Anselm became the Archbishop of Canterbury, although a debate exists over whether he was willing to take up this role or if he was forced into this position. Though it was during the Investiture Controversy Anselm fought to defend the interests of Canterbury even though his agitation of the English monarchy led to him being twice exiled. Though there were some issues on which he did not succeed by his death he had managed to lead reforms within the Church and furthered the position of Canterbury as a seat of ecclesiastical power within the country.

Some have called Anselm the father of scholasticism, an illuminating and penetrating mind and a successful Archbishop. Whatever titles he earns, definitively he became one of the most important Church figures of his time and left a mark on the discussions over the existence of God and other Theological matters.

    Appearance

Appearance: Most at first sight would identify Ruler as a monk, or some kind of religious figure. Only those completely isolated from religious ideas would fail to see him as a holy man of some kind. He has an unathletic build, with the stomach of an ageing gentleman. Pale, unhealthy looking skin and a white mop of hair that is swept away from his face completes the image of one who is uncaring for their own body. His facial expression always appears somewhat quizzical, but seems quite suited for his often calm and contented nature.

Donning a mix of clothing from when he was Archbishop and Abbot, he forgoes his Mitre, for reasons of convenience, instead the main clothing of his term as Archbishop is his crozier and pallium. He has the black habit of a Benedictine Abbot, his command seals are present on his back and are stylistically similar to the pair of crossed crozier’s found in the heraldry of the Archbishop of Canterbury.

    Skills

    Class Skills:

Magic Resistance (C): The protection against magical effects. Quite different from resistance it does not reject magical energy but instead cancels spells altogether. At such an average rank it is still useful in a war where Magecraft is present everywhere, cancelling spells of a rank below two verses. This does not protect from High-Thaumaturgy or Greater Rituals.

True Name Discernment (B): A class skill of the Ruler container, status information such as the identity, skills and parameters are automatically revealed when encountering another Servant. At this rank a direct encounter with a Servant will automatically reveal the Servant’s full status information. Against those Servants who employ concealment effects a Luck check is required.

God’s Resolution (A): The privilege of a Ruler Servant, the Servant is provided with two Command Spells for each other Servant in the Grail War. These Command Spells cannot be repurposed for other Servants and even with such a high rank in the skill the Command Spells of others cannot be acquired by the Servant.

    Personal Skills:

Saint (C): A skill that indicates one being acknowledged as a Saint, allowing for certain abilities to be selected upon summoning. At this rank the following abilities can be selected: Raising the effectiveness of sacraments, automatic HP recovery or a rank up to Charisma.

Charisma (D-): A composite skill of a person’s charm and the natural talent to command or unify. It is a rare talent that can increase the effectiveness of allies during group battles as well as aiding the skillholder in many other situations. At this rank Ruler cannot lead a nation, and even leading a conventional army is not an easy feat even if it is one he can become accustomed to. However he is a skilled leader in all other cases, not only as a teacher but he could be called a pre-eminent Abbot or Archbishop who is capable of leading the religion of a whole country with skill. The negative modifier refers to his difficulty with secular organisations, but he is an effective leader within a religious group.

Revelation (E): A skill to hear the “voice of the heavens” and from there take optimised action, it is equivalent to Instinct, but quite unlike the former it accommodates all matters related to the achievement of a goal, even choosing the most suitable path while travelling. It is not a skill that can be properly explained to one who does not possess it. At this pitifully low rank it is unlikely that Ruler would hear a “voice from the heavens”, even if he did receive a revelation the chances of any pertinent information being revealed is slim. In life Ruler had an encounter with God at the summit of the Becca di Nona, during which God questioned him before sharing bread.

Invocation of the Sacraments (A): The ability to use the sacraments of the Holy Church, the thaumaturgical system employed by the Church. Ruler is proficient in the use of many sacraments, from the simple baptismal rite to even some of the most complex relics and invocations. He can create a variety of relics, charms and weaponry to be used both in battle and daily routine, making it a skill quite similar to Item Construction. Being an Abbot at a young age before becoming a Saint and Archbishop who held significant influence within the Church Ruler has this skill at a very high ranking, although he is competent in using them it should be noted that he prefers to not employ Black Keys in combat.

    Noble Phantasms

Cur Deus Homo- Nihil Autem Est Supra Omne Quod Deus Non Est, Nisi Deus: (A, Barrier): Ruler’s first Noble Phantasm has resulted from his work in creating and popularising the satisfaction theory of atonement. In his book “Cur Deus Homo” or “Why God became Man” Ruler argued that Christ’s death was atonement. However, unlike the previous stance of the Church that Christ dies to atone a debt to the Devil, Ruler claimed Christ’s death was an atonement to God, for the sins of mankind. Sins that could only be paid with an infinite good, which could only be God himself. It was a major work of theology and has shaped Christian dogma until the present day.

A constantly active Noble Phantasm that is inherent to Ruler’s existence, as much a part of him as his Saint-Graph or his Skills. A soft glow that emanates from Ruler’s body, it is not enough to illuminate the area surrounding Ruler, though it is visually similar to the light of Excalibur or other Divine Constructs those who have seen both will feel that it is quite different to such light. The light acts as a conceptual barrier of sorts, shielding Ruler’s body both externally and internally. As example of the satisfaction theory of atonement any result of “ill will” that comes into contact with this barrier can be redirected to “a being of infinite good”, or God. Effectively this makes attacks that encounter Ruler nothing, they are being redirected to a conceptually unkillable being having no true effect on anyone. A Noble Phantasm compensating for Ruler’s low Endurance parameter, it will negate almost anything that could harm Ruler, attacks, curses, magecraft of all kinds, perhaps even True Magic although this will likely not be tested. Only an attack of incredibly power, such as a Noble Phantasm of A Rank or higher, could hope to pierce Cur Deus Homo.

It should be noted that trying to harm Ruler with an attack related to Divinity is utterly futile, both Holy and Unholy weaponry is absolutely ineffective against Cur Deus Homo as, by representing mankind’s forgiveness for it’s original sin, any debt or power such Holy or Unholy power had over Ruler is negated. It may even be better to concentrate on defeating this Noble Phantasm instead of looking for some kind of Anti-Saint weaponry.

Proslogion- Ergo domine credimus te esse aliquid quo nihil maius cogitari possit: (EX, Anti-Unit): Ruler’s second and most powerful Noble Phantasm, while Cur Deus Homo provides an incredibly powerful defense, Proslogion is a Noble Phantasm of almost unparalleled offensive power.

The Proslogion was a book written in the style of a meditation, it is famous for outlining one of the first known examples of the Ontological Argument for the Existence of God. The argument will only be briefly outlined and even then in a very crude sense, Anselm argues God to be logically necessary as being “that which no greater thing could be conceived”. Anselm then asserts that if God is “that which no greater thing could be conceived” that it must exist, as something which exists is greater than something which does not exist.

Upon invoking the full name of the Noble Phantasm a single target of Ruler’s choice is affected. It is almost as if an internal debate starts within that person as the Ontological Argument is planted directly into their thoughts, this initial “attack” of sorts is not resistible by any means, Magic Resistance, Mental Pollution or Divinity will not aid the target in avoiding this. What will be an instant to those watching the target might be an hour inside the mind of the target as they debate whether or not the Ontological Argument proves the existence of God.

In the case that they accept the Argument, or are not able to provide a logical reason for their disagreement with the Argument, the “being above all else”, that is, God will be created within the target. They are now at Ruler’s mercy, while they maintain free will and nothing will truly seem to have changed to the target they could, at a moment, be defeated by Ruler. If Ruler willed it, an Absolute power above all else would cause the target to disappear, their body would disintegrate like a pile of dust when faced with a strong wind. Ultimately, there is unlikely to be a way to resist this attack, to resist omnipotence, if the target is not able to defeat the internal Argument.

If the target is able to provide counter-arguments and as such disprove the Ontological Argument in a logical manner the “being above all else” cannot come into existence within them, instead the attack will take on a mental form, severely damaging the target. However in this instance resistance to mental attacks, such as that provided by Mental Pollution, can aid the target in surviving this damage.

Lets me say this at least. Damn you, Sherlock!

I'm making a sheet right now actually. Let's just say I'm using someone else's sheet as a comparison...

Ah sorry, it was a cool name and there aren't really any skills I know of (aside from Saint, but that's quite limited) that denote a Servant with Church Sacrament usage. So I, once again, stole something from someone else.
Kind of worried about what you mean with your second point.... Either I've written a sheet that you were going to write (again) or you are insinuating you are basing a sheet... off of one of my sheets. Which is one of the worst things you could do. Of course these are both quite self-centered so I could be absolutely wrong about these.

I think he borrowed the Authoritarian Skill from MehKitteh for his Thomas Danforth sheet once.

Yes, the grave crime of skill theft -_- I believe I took Authoritarian from MehKitteh
I also steal Royd's identity, all the time.

...You know there's a canonical Skill literally named Baptism Sacrament, right?

That aside, the Anselm sheet was actually pretty interesting. Especially Proslogion, the idea of an NP that can only be fought off through debating it rationally is an idea I've never seen before. Though it seems kind of hax, since the Ontological Argument itself (IMO, no offense to Anselm) has more holes in it then a sinking ship I'd say most philosophically inclined opponents shouldn't have much trouble convincing themselves of its falsity.*

*Amongst the rebuttals I can recall off the top of my head, existence doesn't seem like a "property" of things in the way that say, redness or roundness is and regarding it equivalently with other properties gets one into all sorts of fascinatingly weird philosophical difficulties (welcome to Meinong's Jungle). Also the argument applies to anything, not just God, so it also "proves" that an ideal donut (for example) exists.

It's literally a worse Jean, except the NPs are broken. It is incredibly bad, using his work as an excuse to give him an EX Rank Noble Phantasm. I'm pretty much cursed when it comes to making these sheets by the fact that I'm the idiot writing them, so somehow I managed to overlook Baptism Sacrament... I should probably stop though, I even stole the idea for Abigail Williams so my sheets are slowly strangling any originality out of this thread -_-
Also pretty sure that First Folio done it originally, it actually made sense with it's attributes.

Am I not allowed to dislike my own work. I'd think that making observations was okay, I'm trying to work on what you have said in the past. If I come across otherwise I'll try and stop that (I have been trying).

Obviously there's nothing wrong with seeing flaws in your own work (God knows I tend to be my own biggest critic too), but you're laying it on a little thick. No offense.

Also, you didn't "steal" the idea for your Abigail Williams sheet from me just because I once offhandedly considered writing up the character. That's just silly.

...A question, but is it alright to make sheets for the minor Knights of the Round? While they're not detailed, there were some impressive details about them.
The Act of dozing off in the afternoon is a luxury indeed.

Entirely? Dang, that sucks... the only time that happened with me was my Lady Sun sheet, and it took a fair while before I had the motivation to write it up again...
