Or so I say but I just caught a cold two days ago. The silver lining is that it seems the peak of it has just about passed but I’ve been a bit muddleheaded. Days of Great Regret.
And so of course I collapse as soon as I get home.

Blergh, the deadline for the comments on the popularity poll... if you miss it I’m not gonna stay quiet, Kobuhei!

Heh, when the time comes that I have to descend back to the basecamp, I’ll have completely mastered the mountain trail... and with those words, I think I’m going to quietly keep typing away alone in my room.

...Or so I say, yet I was blindsided by “Otoko-kuzushi” on the very first day. What’s up with that?
Also with BUCK-TICK’s “Zangai” as BGM at maximum volume.

♪ “The nonsense ends here, only desire now” ♪

    ....
And so I suddenly return to my senses and it appears that my brain is melting from both my cold and the happiness virus.
Is it really okay to be this happy every day? The popularity poll was fun, and the all fanworks we’ve received in support from you was amazing, and I only played Beach Volleyball on the day I bought it, and I’m a dumbass who can only clear Alter on easy-mode.
I predict that when January ends the backlash from all this is gonna come back hard.
    Sixth ceasing.
    Fourth ceasing.
    Third ceasing.
    First ceasing.

Oh, also, about Nanako’s “Holy Crucifix Burial Song”, it’s got “Anti-reincarnation” as ruby-text. Reincarnation, hella lame.
Hope you like Nasu's borderline Schizo-posting.

This blog-post is so full of references, you might not understand anything of it if you don't know them. Luckily I had the privilege or researching most of them as I tried translating it.

Title: Probably a reference to the Summit of the Gods, a manga by Jiro Taniguchi. Mentioned in a previous blogpost.
Otoko-kuzushi: Now this is a fucking rabbit-hole. This is probably a nickname for a game know as Bakuretsu Block 7.7 of which information can seemingly only be found on TAKEMOON author Takenashi's now defunct website. You clear blocks in it, or something. Probably had some kind of story, or something. Probably made in Java, or something. Probably not extant on the webs anymore, or something. So forgive me if the part where he talks about it seems non-sensical. Well, it probably is anyways.
    BUCK-TICK: Old-school Visual-Kei band. Here's the exact song he's referencing.
Beach Volleyball and Alter: I don't know I didn't even bother at this point.
Sixth, etc, ceasing: This is referencing some prose from the Melty Blood story.

Thanks for the translation! It was a surprising enjoyable read.

“In my Melty, ○○ appears and all, but I can’t use them. Is it broken?”
“In my Melty, S○○ doesn’t appear so is it broken or what?”
“In this Melty of mine, Sion cannot become mine, is it broken, mayhaps?”
Huh maybe I should get a refund with Type Lumina after all.

I was also looking forward to “CANNONBALL ~ Neko-Neko Machine Mou Race! ~, dummy!
I meeaan, it was to the extent that I fabricated my own website just for the sake of showing my support to Miss Pitch Perfect~~~~~~~~~~!!!
(↑ Sore-loser cuz I didn’t do it. Prosciutto would say I’m still an amateur)

Thinking back to it, at the time of last year’s CANNONBALL announcement, I both writhed in pain and felt despair at its overwhelming stylishness.
About 12 characters in a Master and Servant combination? Wha- I don’t have the slightest! 3 people per team, but there are over 10 teams! Over 50 characters expected, and yet every single one of them are cool ‘n cute! It’s also totally unfair that the dude doing mecha-designs is Kaneko Shinya (the guy who likes saying ‘Here’s your promised 100k dollars’), goddamnit.
Also, each team’s emblem is super wonderful. They’ve made good work out of even the places you’d think people wouldn’t read into and that’s no small feat.

So CANNONBALL is already next week.
I said this last year around this time but, the no.1 game of 2002 was “Kusarihime”.
It was in wanting to create these kinds of games that little Kinoko entered this world. That they’re secretly ‘craziest brother games’ also scores high points for me.
Is something as shocking as that coming once more? I can’t help but feel hopeful.

How was DMC2, you ask? No, I don’t know of any such Parasite Eve-esque games.

...Shit, wait. Even though I’m in the fanclub, I forgot to order from the makers directly… ‘I was busy at the end of the year’ is not gonna cut it as an excuse... I guess I’ve gotta go line up in electric town on friday like everyone else.

PS: To my acquaintances at home.
I bought the DVD box for Red Dwarf. After thoroughly looking through all the stores, I found the final one in the last store I visited. I guess God does exist after all.

So I guess I'll make this a usual corner, considering it might prove necessary; References.

CANNONBALL: VN made by Liar-soft. Most notably the original concept and planning was done by Mr. Meteor (Hoshizora Meteo) who now works with TYPE-MOON.
Kusarihime: Another VN made by Liar-soft. Also planned and written by Meteo. Don't look either of these up if you don't have stomach for lolicon content, by the way.
Prosciutto: Not the ham, but the character from Part 5 of JOJO named after the ham.
Kaneko Shinya: Illustrator, manga artist, etc. Known for Culdcept.
Red Dwarf: The British Science-Fiction series.
DMC2: Devil May Cry 2. A bad game.

    Thanks for the kind words.

In some ways I feel like these are some of the hardest challenges I've had as a translator, but on the other, there's no pressure to produce something particularly impressive, so it's been quite enjoyable in some ways to translate.

I've heard nasu has weird phrasing in japanese, is that true?

or is it just full of obscure chuunispeak, or both?

In terms of his actual writing, yes, he has a very peculiar style. I'd characterize it as very varied, very involved.

In terms of his blogs, uhh, let's just say that he also has a very peculiar style there. It's just not the same one.

I listened to the drama CD of “Cosmos no Sora ni”.
Lately it’s become a habit of mine to listen to drama CD’s when I’m doing the cleanup of my line drawings.

I haven’t played the original game but it was pretty interesting. Full of interesting characterizations.
Besides, lil Kana is moe. Besides, Tamura is moe.
But my favorite was “Harupi~” I suppose, “Harupi~” I suppose.
Because I was part of the Nanase gang from ONE, you see.

I also managed to become aware of the origin of the meme “kushu~” that I occasionally see on blogs. HEHE, HOW CUTE.
Suzu-nee’s “dazo” reminded me of Yoko from Bastard!!

Privately, I’m rather looking forward to the second part of the drama CDs!
Cosmos no Sora ni: Visual Novel from 2001 by Marron.
    Tamura: Kana's voice actor.
Harupi~: Probably referring to Sakuma Haruhi from this game. Known for being an early Tsundere archetype.
ONE: Full title, ONE ~kagayaku kisetsu e~. Visual Novel from 1998 by Tactics.
Bastard!!: Old-ass Dark Fantasy manga by Kazushi Hagiwara. Known for its rather explicit content, among other things.

Well, to be fair I've seen it only twice, but 'if you don't have the stomach for lolicon content' and 'rather explicit', one's codewords for torture porn and the other is just blatant.

As Nasu said, the reason they were making VNs to begin with is because that's what they liked.

    And VNs are extremely pornographic.
