Basically, when you use violence as a tool you better be prepared to receive it in turn. If you are willing to resort to violence then you at least should also be willing to accept retaliating violence as a valid answer. Otherwise you just want to be an uncontested top dog.

We are doing well in China, and the fact that very few cases have appear despite the National Day opening is good news. But L3 is Chinese American, so his boss and homeland is Trump and USA respectively.

As of Mulan, it got sandwiched since we see it as pandering to the West and vice versa.

Unlike the Supreme Leader of China, the President of the US does not have as much power as he and others seem to think he does. That's why we have those numbers that gainsay him.
