Beheading Spear Thrust
Kubitori-Matazaemon
Anti-Unit, Rank C+A technique of Lancer’s, manifested as a Noble Phantasm. It was honed during his year-long exile from his master’s side, during which Lancer fought by himself. Kubitori-Matazaemon’s name came from the same era, being part of the title of a warrior Lancer slew with the perfected technique. As Lancer took the man’s life, he decided to take the man’s title for his technique.
Kubitori-Matazaemon could be described as the technique of a showoff, using a long spear to decapitate a person with a single thrust. Though his weapon is slightly modified for this purpose, it still uses a relatively unwieldy piercing weapon in a slashing attack. Striking at a precise angle, Lancer will pierce the target’s neck, passing through the spine as well as most of the soft tissue supporting the head. A high-damage attack with a good chance to kill an opponent instantly.
As a technique specialized for use against humans, its effect on beasts and monsters is obviously less than usual.
Headhunter’s Ascension
Suemori no Tatakai
Anti-Unit (Self), Rank BA Noble Phantasm born of one of Lancer’s most notable deeds. It takes the form of enhancement stemming from one’s achievements. However, this is not Suemori no Tatakai’s original form, but rather the form it takes when manifesting in Lancer’s current class. His actions at the Siege of Suemori propelled Lancer into the position of the greatest lord of his region, and later one of the most powerful lords of Japan.
Through killing others, Lancer can increase his own abilities, as long as the act had witnesses. By slaying a worthy foe, Lancer will have ‘proved’ his abilities, and will receive a permanent rank-up to one of his parameters. The parameter raised is the highest-ranked parameter the target had. In the case of multiple options, the parameter raised will be chosen at random. However, as such an act is neither honorable nor impressive, killing ordinary humans will have little to no effect. Despite the increase in ability, Lancer’s magical energy consumption will not increase at all.
In truth, this version of the Noble Phantasm is at its heart a brash attempt to outdo his rival, Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
