My writing has improved as a result of the corruption!
It's like Roa or Angra Mainyu beefing up our writing prowess. Or Araya awakening our Origins and our skill responded accordingly.
I will say that Alf takes most of the blame for setting me down the path of darkness.

Fuyuki burned. The massive edifice of the Holy Grail, once sought by generations of magi as the gateway to a higher plane, had instead become a portal to hell, its corruption destroying and warping all it touched.
Even with the world on the brink of annihilation, the grail war continued. Magi were persistent, or more accurately, stubborn to the point of madness in that way. The last two masters, drawn by the power emanating from the tainted artifact, had brought their servants, Rider and Saber, to the fray.
Recognizing that time was of the essence, yet still unable to cast aside their differences, the Magi used the last of their command seals in an attempt to ensure victory, before engaging one another and disappearing into the hellish maw.
That had been at least an hour ago, but it was difficult to tell. One's perception of time was somewhat less coherent when fighting a desperate battle at the location of All the Evils of the World, as Roland had learned. While he was one of the greatest knights of his liege, Charlemagne, his opponent was truly a worthy foe.
The Saxon's shield was broad, his movements quick yet strong, and his sword had an unerring accuracy when it came to targeting Roland. Indeed, it often seemed to follow him of its own accord. This did not mean that Roland felt fear of defeat, quite the opposite. The proud knight was glad to have found such a skilled adversary. It was a shame that their battle would soon be ended prematurely.
Roland had felt the prana linking him to his master weaken, all but severed entirely. Either his master had gone far enough into the grail that the connection had been interrupted, or, far more likely, they were dying. Most likely, if Roland continued the battle, defeat would come swiftly. Any victory would be worthless, as he would most likely perish soon after.
The knight knew this, and accepted his fate. He would follow his orders to the bitter end. Anything else was unthinkable. That said, he would need to plan something quickly; Saber had already killed his mount, and as Roland's blows weakened, he pressed the attack, pushing the proud knight back again and again.
Only Roland's armor and skill had stopped him from being gutted, and he knew this was a tenuous state of affairs. Sadly, only one option was available to him. Using the last vestiges of his strength, Roland swung his sword in a lethal two handed arc, aiming for Sabers legs. Such a massive blow was obvious, and the opposing servant moved backwards, content to let the knight waste his sapping strength.
It was not Sabers life Roland had been seeking, but rather to only delay him. As the Saxon moved back, Roland had already raised his famous Oliphant to his lips. As the item that both killed him and ensured his fame, it was a double edged sword, potentially bringing victory, but certainly bringing death.
Roland sounded the horn, and activated his last Noble Phantasm: The Stand of Roland. Upon activation, the phantasm performs similar to mad enhancement. Rather than putting extra strain on the master, and suppressing higher thought, Roland would instead become extremely powerful, more than a match for most servants. It was not without a price; while the master would not feel any additional strain, and Roland would replenish his prana, such power was volatile. It would literally destroy him from the inside out, doing more damage the longer it was sustained. For this reason, and the pride of its wielder, it could only be deployed when defeat was the only outcome.
Stronger than ever before, the knight moved. One moment he had been using his Oliphant, and the next he was swinging his sword at Sabers neck. Saber blocked with his shield, using the motion to open the way for a stab aimed at Riders stomach, only to find that Roland’s shield arm had intercepted his sword arm. They grappled, and Roland pried away the sword, tossing it aside with enhanced strength, leaving him open for Sabers mailed punch, snapping his head back and denting his helmet. Saber swiftly punched again, crippling Riders left shoulder, but was himself left open for Roland’s head butt. Unarmed skill or no, the Saxon was stunned, allowing the knight to withdraw.
The two opponents had a moment to judge the damage done. Saber had been disarmed, and his helmet had been rendered unusable. Roland had lost his shield arm, but retained his armor and sword. Saber charged, seeking to pummel his enemy into submission with shield and fist. Rider, his vision starting to bleed red, intercepted the punch with his already crippled arm. The appendage bent sickeningly, but he had his opening, sword slashing at a Saxon throat. His opponent managed to dodge below it, but Roland merely continued the swing, his sword nearly taking off Sabers arm in a single chop.
The end was nearing, one way or another. Saber managed to evade another lethal strike, using his remaining arm to draw a seemingly plain blade blade from the air itself. While Roland did not know it, this was the weapon used to slay the awe inspiring Dragon of Earnaness, capable of piercing any armor, even the hide of a dragon. The knight may not have known the power of the blade, but he attacked as Saber summoned it, his body burning from within while his Phantasm reached its end. Both servants swung.
Roland stood frozen, his attack ended, before he fell, head and body separating. The knight may have been defeated, but his final attack had succeeded. Beowulf looked down at the sword lodged in his heart, and offered a grudging salute, before he too succumbed.
Fuyuki burned, and while perhaps some Magi were left alive, the grail war ended, in the hellish pit of madness that had once been sought as the prize.

I dunno. Beowulf gets a good enough grip on Roland, and there goes his arm. Or head. Not to mention a single lucky strike with Hrunting, and the fight is over due to Roland suddenly missing a limb or half his torso.
And I agree, Beowulf has a fucking RIDICULOUS unarmed skill. He was able to rip off arms as a man. That should translate to something pretty damn strong when a Servant.
...okay, a general dare!
Shirou's accidental summoning is even more faulty and somehow he ends up summoning Jack the Ripper.

Well, yeah. I meant, had it not been Beowulf, the situation would have likely gone better for Roland.

Ironically, had it likely been any other servant than Roland, Beowulf would have won that. Same for if Saber had been someone other than Beowulf, Roland would have won that. Both are OMGWTFBBQ tier when it comes to phantasms likely. Beowulf with two or three swords, Roland with Durandal, his horse and the Oliphant. Either is a catch when it comes to getting a Servant.
