Oh man, was talking with a teacher I wanted to take abnormal psych in the fall with and he said straight out, you don't even want to try taking abnormal during the semester that DSM5 was getting thrown around. That shit is going to be brutal.

I got lucky, I'm in Abnormal Psych right now; I'm in the last semester before the new edition comes out, so I don't have to put up with that shit.

Unless it comes up in grad school, argh.

edition of textbook we using this semester just came out in january and spend pretty much half its pages just saying what the possible differences between DSM-IVTR and DSM-5 are gonna be

and DSM-5 comes out next month

Yeah I am gonna have to take it in the spring because of the DSM so it will actually be part of my last semester for my bachelors. Not that it matters cause I am going to have to turn right around and jump back in en route to my LPC anyway.

Well this is one of my last psych courses for BA, (other one being STUDY ABROAD~), so meh
plus grad school its pretty much required you take entire course (or two depending on university) on the DSM

I took abnormal psych when dsm 5 was a far off disaster not to worry about. So I can't relate at all except everything I half remember is gonna be even more half-baked soon!

Got lucky, using earlier edition textbook.

I keep hearing so many rumors from my Abnormal teacher about this thing though. Like that Asperger's as a diagnosis is going to disappear and they're going to do some expansion on the autism spectrum.

I heard some weird things, like they were doing away with a lot of child centric psychosis and incorporating more of an emphasis on developing diseases.

well, my textbook is saying they're just streamling all that into one "autism spectrum disorder" categorie
so its not gone, its just not its own specific disorder, or its part of larger group now

from what im looking at that doesnt really seem to be the case, just things getting shifted around or put into larger categories

or in some cases separated into new ones
